Freytag’s Plot Pyramid for Dramatic Action

 

The following labels apply to the stages of action in a traditionally structured play:

 

  1. Exposition or Inciting Action (the events that start the action of the play).
  2. Rising Action
  3. The Climax also called The Crisis, the high point of interest in the play
  4. Falling Action
  5. The Denouement, the unraveling of the plot, the ending
