Welcome!
Thank you for visiting our very first website! Boy, do we have quite the story! My boyfriend and I have lived in this small, quiet apartment for a while, and we knew there was something missing. We aren't allowed to have cats or dogs, but we CAN have caged animals. We thought long and hard, and decided to invest in raising rats. We started off with two all white rats. I really wanted a hooded rat, so we searched for a long time for one, and my boyfriend finally brought one home to me one night after work. However, not having the knowledge of where to get baby rats, he picked one up at a local pet store, that apparently housed male and female rats in the same cage. I named her Kyra, and she was a very lively, friendly rat, who loved to lick my hand and ride around on my shoulder. Three weeks after we got her, we noticed a giant nest she had made, and her stomach had popped out and her nipples were definitely showing. So now, confident Kyra is pregnant, we have moved her into her own cage and have prepared to raise baby rats. However, we cannot keep them, since we live in a small apartment, and cannot care for as many as 23 baby rats. I have decided to create a web page to post pictures of the babies in hopes of placing them in loving homes, and for those who have experience in raising rats and their babies to hopefully give us some pointers. We are very new to raising rats, but have done a ton of research to do this the right way! Please, if you have any advice, wish to purchse a baby of your own, or just want to share your precious rat stories and pictures, do so!
The Story of Kyra
The story of Kyra is unveiled... I came home from work a little early today because I was starting to get a migraine. I immediately got on my computer to see if anybody else had visited my website or had written me about my babies :) Something very random, but wonderful happened. I got an email from this girl named Hannah who happened to see my babies listed on craigslist, and recognized the picture of Kyra. I emailed her a picture of Kyra, and she immediately realized that she was originally hers, previously known as Nina. Unfortunately, Hannah had too many rats, and gave away three of her babies, including Nina* to a girl who claimed to take good care of them forever. Shortly after, my boyfriend found Nina at a local pet store, and brought her home to me because he knew I would love her. Nina* was raised in Augusta, ME from a breeder. I always wondered why she was so sweet and loving, because it's hard to find rats at a pet store that were ever shown the time of day and had learned to love humans like Nina* does. Any who, Nina, now called Kyra, is in a loving home, and would like the previous owner, Hannah, know that she is in excellent hands. I am VERY glad to know that she was raised well, and not in some tank with a million other babies just for snake food, because Kyra, nor her babies, will ever be snake food, because I love them too much :)
