Hello & welcome to "The Devon & Cornwall Staffordshire Bull Terrier Ringcraft club" and although the name suggests we are solely a SBT training club we have now had permission from the Kennel Club to socialise & train ALL bullbreeds!! so if you would like to come along to the club & get friendly advice on any health or fitness matter or would like advice & practise training towards exhibiting your bull breed we would be more than happy to welcome you to our club. we always have various commitee members present at most of our meetings from a wide range of backgrounds & experience who would be more than welcome to give you help, support & sound advice. you may only have an interest in the breed & would like to come along prior to purchasing your new pup or rescue. . either way we would help you & point you in the right direction!
During the course of the evening we start off with general socialisation & encourage members to mingle and let each others dogs greet one another in a controlled enviroment . . we usually use this time to chat over a cuppa & a biscuit. . . there is generally somebody on hand to "go over" your dog or pup as a judge would & give advice on handling or health issues during this time.
we then get all the pups on the mat & have a mock show line-up which although doesnt take as long as a real show gives the pups a taste of the atmosphere inside the show ring & is as important to the pup as it is to the handler! we have seasoned veterans of the ring to complete novice handlers & give the best handled or most improved pup a trophy to take home until the next meeting by way of offering encouragment & we find it also encourages other members to give support and congratulate our fellow members! we then do the same with the older dogs & although it is important practise time we all treat it light heartedly and in no way are we competitive during practice sessions. In fact we are very supportive to each other even at championship shows where we are sometimes even in the same classes competing against each other!
by this time we are ready to sit back down & have another cuppa or chat & wait for the prize raffle! we usually have dog related prizes & the odd bar of choccy etc & we always welcome raffle donations.
please don't think that you need to be in anyway interested in showing your bull breed to attend our sessions or to become a member,
we are more than happy if you just want to come along for a chat & socialise your dog or dogs.
