Summer is here and our summer workshop is almost upon us! We have lots of things to discuss at the upcoming meeting, come out and make your voice heard!!

* Brainstorm possible workshop instructors for Winter Workshop and DotD
* Brainstorm
instructors to invite to hold free workshops at DotD.
* Brainstorm dance studios, provide info for Bill and Pat.
* Need someone to look into the details for holding a Candy Bar fund raiser.

Tribe - we really need a Tribe.net page rather than a Myspace page. But we need a volunteer! Are you game?
The Summer Workshop is coming up! We have already voted to have Prince Andrew come out and teach us some Indo-Belly Fusion!! It's going to be great, after all, he is a Prince! Come out and help us choose the date, you won't want to miss this workshop.
Do you have new ideas for our Student Recital? We would love to hear them! Can't make it to the meeting? Email us!
Jingle All the Way is going to be better than ever this year and we need your help and performances. The theme is "A Christmas Carol - Belly Dancing Ghosts of the Past, Present, and Future". Which one are you? Start planning your theme now, there's only a few months left! To reserve your idea before someone else snatches it up, email us!
And last but not least, Day of the Dance has been moved to August of 2009!! Help us make a better event than ever at the fabulous Lancaster Performing Arts Center! We need volunteers, and dancers to make this event happen. Please email us if you would like to help out!
Have you heard? We have new PR Officers, Pat and Bill Van Gorder. They plan to do a fabulous job. If you have ideas and/or contacts to help with PR, email us!
The April meeting for the Desert Communities' Chapter will be held on: April 20th at 8:30am @ Scramblez Restaurant (on 30th Street West and Ave. L)
We will be discussing possible locations for Jingle All the Way, we are looking for the possibility of a church. If you have any ideas for a venue, please attend the meeting and we can discuss them.
We will also be discussing the summer workshop and voting on whom the instructor will be. Come out and vote for the instructor you would like to see.
There are many other things on the agenda, including Day of the Dance 2009!

January's meeting went very well!

officer for our DC Chapter. The person appointed would receive a
complimentary membership (personal and/or family if applicable). Do you know how to
tell a good story? Have the art of the cliffhanger down to a science?
If so, you're exactly the kind of person we're looking for to do
publicity for our chapter! If you have experience with press releases,
ads, and working with the press... or if you want to learn, then you
would be great for the job! If interested, please submit a proposal to

Papier Mache Party!!
Come out and join us for a papier mache party for Day of the Dance!!
We need extra hands and volunteers
to come out and help make decorations for this year's Day of the Dance.
We will be making papier mache masks and tissue paper flowers. Having
you there would be fabulous!!
Here's what we need you to
bring (it doesn't have to be everything, just as much as you have
laying around or are willing to purchase and donate): Newspapers and/or white tissue paper Plastic bottles/jugs (like milk cartons) and/or balloons Sequins, feathers, yarn, scraps of fabric, beads, glitter, and/or any other craft items Glue! very important ingredient for papier mache (Elmer's glue will work fine) Acrylic poster paints Colored tissue paper (for the flowers) Yarn (to tie flowers) Something to drink and snack on
We must know how many people are
going to show up. We have enough room for about 8 people, but may need
to make extra arrangements for more (ie: chairs, table, etc.) PLEASE

January 2008 Meeting
It's a brand new year!!! Come out and help us celebrate all that is grand for the Desert Communities Chapter!
We have a new board, some new ideas, and will be moving forward with old ones. It's going to be fabulous! On the agenda are Day of the Dance, coming up on February 9th, welcoming our new board members, and our presenting our all new elected officer! Let's see as many shiny new faces as possible, we need your help. Support your local board! If you can't make it, we understand, however, you can still email Blume and she will set you up with a job to do.

Hello everyone!! Well, it's almost the end of another great year! And we have one more fabulous event to look forward to!! That's right, Jingle All the Way: Babes in Toyland promises to be another incredible show this year! We can't wait to see you all there!
October's meeting was very small, and I really would love to see more of you at our meetings if at all possible. Please come out and show your support for your chapter, we miss you all! We have many jobs left in need of filling for the upcoming year and a few more positions that we could use your help with for Jingle. If you can't make it to the meeting, don't forget, you can email Blume and she will get you hooked up with a job!

I am sad to announce that Renee will not be running for President next year. However, she will still be involved and volunteering... yay, we're not rid of her yet!

March 2007 Meeting
Wow, we had another great meeting, that makes 2 for 2 for the new year!! Come out and join us at our next meeting on March 24th at Darla's house (during the garage sale) at 10am. Join us early and help out for set up of the garage sale, stay after the meeting to help with clean up, or just come out for the meeting portion of the day. Email Darla for directions. We are also looking for a volunteer to handle the chapter's promotion for the year as our media coordinator. This person would be responsible for obtaining advertisements in the local paper and on the local radio stations for our events. In addition, this person would procure sponsors to advertise in our programs that are passed out at the events. They would also give the chapter insight into additional advertisement opportunities. Desert Communitites is having it's first ever fundraiser garage sale! March 24th, 2007 at 7am. The proceeds from the garage sale will go towards the payment of our storage facility. We need volunteers to help with pricing items and working at the garage sale. We also need items!! Donate used clothes, household items, and anything that you just don't need or want anymore.
