Layla was really the rabbit that started my rabbit habbit.
I had gotten a mini rex doe from one of my friends,
however that proved disaster, she was a total wench,
always biting me etc...one day my dogs broke into
my room and killed her, poor thing. So I was on
the search for some new rabbits, I got about 5
mini rex's from my 4H leader and from
Girl's Golden Ranch Rabbitry I got some
Jersey Woolies, Layla, a sweet Himilayan,
however was still available, and she was free,
as she was not a good mother, well something
about her just really captured my heart, so that
day I took her home with me. From that
moment Layla and I just clicked and I knew
I was hooked on rabbits. Layla was one of
the only rabbits, that when the weather got
questionable outside she was always in my
room, munching on hay and sleeping next
to my head at night. About 3 months after
I got Layla, she got really sick, not quite
sure what it was, but the vet thinks it was
Enteritis. After 2 days of trying to save
her, my wonderful Layla passed away
:-( YOU WILL ALWAYS BE
REMEMBERED LAYLA!!!!!!!
Dash was my first Tan rabbit and is who made
me fall in love with the breed! Dash was a
fantastic Tan, great conformation and such
a sweet disposition. He actually was a
house rabbit, litter trained in my room.
Well finally my dad wanted the rabbit
outside, it was still quite warm here in
Michigan (50 degrees in December),
so I thought ok, Dash'll be fine.
Well one night it got much colder
than anticipated, as it often does
in Michigan and beloved Dash
froze to death. I was absolutley
devistated, I had totally fallen
in love with Dash, he was more
than just a rabbit, he was my pet.
Just remember Dash, you are
what got it started and you will
always be remember and thanked for that!
