Welcome!

I get a lot of emails about computer problems. The following steps along with a little bit of common sense will keep your pc running smoothly. I use every single one of these programs almost everyday, I would not recommend anything I haven't personally tried out. I will be posting links here to help you with your computer problems, list free programs, post links to paid programs If I think they are worth the price and from time to time I will be giving away free G-mail accounts

Please Read Disclaimer

(FREE)- I have just finished testing the new Microsoft Anti-Spyware program and I find it very, very helpful. You can never have too many spyware programs and they don't conflict with each other although you may get an error popup from Adaware or Spybot stating they might. (NOTE: This program only works Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Server™ 2003, You could try it on Windows 98 or ME but as far as I know it doesn't work on those.

(TRIAL)- Try ACE Utilities, they have a 30 day trial. The program is $29.95 if you decide to purchase it, which I have...I think it's well worth it!
Get Ace Utilities Here!

(FREE)- I have 50 gmail accounts to give away, the first 50 people to email me woodfam@gmail.com with GMAIL in the subject line to get them.

(FREE)- Get a good firewall I recommend ZoneAlarm

(FREE)- Use a dependable anti-virus AVG Free Edition I have been using it a little over 3 yrs, nothing gets by it. After you download it be sure and check for updates and update it at least every 14 days to keep protected.
(I recommend either Automatic Updates or at least every 7 days)

(FREE)- Keep your pc updated with free updates from Microsoft: Open up internet explorer, click on tools, then click on windows update, you will be taken to the update site, once there click on scan for updates, ALWAYS take the critical updates first, then you can pick and choose the other updates you may need or want. You will be asked to reboot several times during different updates. I do not recommend downloading driver updates from microsoft for video cards, modems, sound card,etc...It is better to go to the website of the company that made your hardware and update your driver from there.

(FREE)- Get a popup blocker, this will block website popups on Internet Explorer that install spyware and trojan horses on your pc EMS Free Surfer Companion Scroll down the page and click on "EMS Free Surfer Companion, version 1.3.0.0" that will start the download

(FREE)- Another great Anti-spyware program is: SpyBot Search & Destroy, you can choose which version to download based on your version of windows.

(FREE)- You should also try Adaware from Lavasoft to help get rid of adware.

(FREE)-I suggest using an alternative browser to Internet Explorer, I use Mozilla Firefox It's a great browser featuring tabbed browsing, built in popup killer, google search bar, fully customizable background and text colors, and many plugins to choose from.
A quick tip about Firefox, it doesn't come with plugins for java, flash or quicktime, you have to install these plugins yourself but it's very easy to do.

(FREE)- If you get a virus or trojan and have trouble getting rid of it, try HouseCall from Trend Micro, it's an online virus scan that will scan your PC and automatically clean any viruses it finds!

Now, the common sense part...NEVER open an email attachment unless you personally asked someone to send it to you, Most viruses and trojans can send themselves to you from a friends infected pc with the friends return addy on it.

I hope these steps will be of some use to you pc users out there,if you need help installing or figuring out any of the programs I mentioned email me woodfam@gmail.com with HELP in the subject line and I will be glad to help you out.
