Welcome to my piece of t'interweb.
My interest in music began when I taught myself how to play the recorder and read music at the age of 8. At St. Stephen's RC Primary School the opportunity came up to learn clarinet with Helen Chamberlain where I won the Davis Cup and then at Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School with Julia Hones and piano with Susan Mallard. I was a regular member of the Erith Clarinet Choir and won many awards at festivals and competitions for solo performances. At Chis'n'Sid I achieved Distinction at Grade 8 and the Associate of London College of Music Diploma in Clarinet Playing. 'A' grades were achieved at O and A level music thanks to Mary Davies and Geoffrey Molyneux. Saturday mornings were spent participating in various groups and orchestras including the Bexley London Borough Schools Symphony Orchestra at the Bexley Music Centre between 1974 and 1981. Was a founder member of the Chislehurst And Sidcup Grammar School Former Pupils' Music Society and the Dixie Dilemma Jazz Band.
At Trinity College of Music London studied clarinet with Keith Puddy, piano with Joan Barker and harmony with Dr. Brian Blackwood. Was awarded the Licentiate of Trinity College London Teachers Diploma and the Graduate of Trinity College London Diploma with Honours. Recorder lessons were taken with Philip Thorby.
Began teaching in 1982 and since graduating from Trinity in 1984 have taught privately and in local schools (e.g. Picardy School, Erith School, St Catherine's School for Girls, St Mary and St Joseph's School) as a visiting teacher. Since 2004 have concentrated on expanding my private practice.
