David's Sculpture and Model Site

Welcome to my webpage. This is just for showing some of the sculpts and models I've made over the years. Right now I'm going through kind of a statue sculpting phase, as you can see below.

Thanks for visiting.

To contact me, email at djames1701a@att.net. Sorry, I'm not making any kits at the moment.

Here's an Indiana Jones bust I just finished, and painted in bronze. Since everyone else always sculpts him with a wry grin, I decided to go for more of a serious and determined expression.

I also tried to "dust it up" a little afterwards to give it an aged look...

Aaaand....  here's a black and white of Christopher Reeve's Superman. It's probably the last one of these I'm going to do for awhile.

As always, there are more pics in the "sculpts" folder.

Finally got my latest Superman finished. It's based off the art of Ed McGuinness. I also decided to ditch the steel color and go for a simple dark gray instead. I also repainted the bases.

For a change of pace, here's a non-superhero sculpt I finished of a friend who posed for me. I decided to paint it off-white for that "classical sculpture" kind of look.

Here's something I threw together for fun for another website. It's basically everything I did in 2007 compressed into one box (obviously not all of them are finished).

Apparently I had a lot of free time...

... And here's the color version of my Fleischer Supes. When I have the time, I'd like to create a more cartoon-inspired base of some sort, but this will do for now.

11/25/07

Here's another one in my Superman series. It's the Fleischer Superman from the 1940s cartoons. I'm also working on a color version with a different base...

10/24/07

Finally got this one painted. It's a bust of O-Ren Ishii from the first Kill Bill movie:

Here's a new one I'm working on-- a small bust of Spider-Woman. Still have a ways to go...

Also, the black seemed a little too harsh on my Superman statue earlier, so I went with a metallic gray instead. It's a bit lighter, yet still looks pretty cool I think.

I also gave it a new base.

Here's my completed Swan "Superman Black and White", inspired by the Batman Black and White statues out there. Mine isn't half as good of course, but it was fun to try anyway.

Here's a couple more that have yet to be finished or painted.

Spock from the new Trek movie, played by Zachary Quinto (still just guessing what he'll look like):

And a Superman Returns sculpt:

Here's a sculpt I finished of The 10th Doctor (from Doctor Who). I decided to go for a bronze look this time, and I really like the results.

I went ahead and repainted my Curt Swan Superman too, and think it's a huge improvement.

Here's a few projects I've started recently, in various stages of completion. Don't know if I'll ever finish them all.

Data from Star Trek:

Yet another Lucy Liu:

There's not much of a costume yet, but this was a Spider-woman statue I was working on.

In keeping with the retro theme, here's a Batman I finished using the original 1939 costume...

Here's a Supergirl I just finished painting. It's basically supposed to be the classic, silver-age costume. First is the sketch, then the final version.

Here's a glimpse at another 1/6 figure I'm working on. I would show the head but... I haven't quite sculpted it yet.

I added some updated pics of my Refit bridge. It still needs a lot of work and touching up, and I need to add a couple more chairs and details like the silver fire extinguishers, but it's getting closer.

Here's a sculpt I just finished of Jayna from the Wonder Twins. I thought it would be fun to try to update and modernize the character.

First is the sketch, then the painted final version:

Here's another sculpt I'm currently working on. It's supposed to be what Bizarro might look like if he appeared on the 1950s TV series. I tried to make him an ugly, mean looking boxer type.
