How Does it Work

Normal air molecules are electrically neutral, with no net positive or negative charge. Under certain conditions, however, it is possible for individual molecules to acquire a charge by gaining or losing an electron, forming a positive or negative air ion. It has been known for some time that a preponderance of negative air ions in the atmosphere inhibits the growth of certain micro-organisms; but new research indicates that a high local concentration of negative air ions acts as a powerful microbiocide without any apparent aDverse effect on underlying physiological tissue.
The Dentron Biogun provides a convenient way of delivering a concentrated stream of negative air ions which can be precisely targeted to the site of infection. It does so by applying a high voltage to a special emitter plugged into a probe handle, causing electrons to be sprayed onto the surrounding air molecules and resulting in a gentle "wind" of negative air ions which kill any micro-organisms they meet. The emitter is thin and flexible, and can be autoclaved after use to ensure a sterile treatment.
But enough of the technical details,
Basically, during the treatment the patient hold the hand electrode (to complete the circuit) while the practitioner simply keeps the end of the emitter about 5 millimetres away from the surface to be treated for a period depending on the severity of the infection.
There are no known definitive contraindications to this form of therapy.
