THE ONE EIGHTY YOUTH PROJECT

Turning The Tide Together

CHANGING POTTERS GREEN FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

The ONE EIGHTY Youth Project

The overall aim of the ONE EIGHTY Youth project is to provide positive activities and programmes for young people aged 11-18 living in the Potters Green area.

Our objectives are to:

Respond to the needs of local young people by giving them “somewhere to go, something to do” as well as forum for being a positive voice into the wider community

Connect local adults with local young people to ‘build bridges’ and promote positive relationships and community integration in a safe environment

Build a sense of “self worth” in individuals and groups of young people as they are empowered to make a positive difference in the lives of others

The aims and objectives of the ONE EIGHTY Youth Project fit well within the Governments ‘Every Child Matter’ agenda to help young people:

·                       Be healthy

·                       Stay safe

·                       Enjoy and achieve

·                       Make a positive contribution

·                       Achieve economic well-being

In Coventry children and young people have identified a sixth Every child Matters outcome, which is important to them - 'having supportive friends, families and communities'. This is the outcome that perhaps best represents the heart of the ONE EIGHTY Youth Project. It is our desire that we see an inclusive community, valuing and respecting each sector of the neighbourhood, in an atmosphere free from antisocial behaviour from young and old alike.
