Open House is coming are you ready?! On March 13th when you come to the school make sure you stop in thelibrary for the Book Fair and the computer lab to see some great student projects, but this is a technology class so I will ask that you come prepared......that means bringyour technology: a smart phone, iPad or something with a camera and a couple ofa pps pre-loaded. Consider adding these apps:
Scholastic Book Fairs: The NEW Book Fairs app is absolutely FREE and is available for the iPad®, iPhone® andAndroid™ mobile devices. With any scan of a book cover or barcode these detailsare displayed: AR level, book summary, price, awards, and more. Parents are also able to search thousands of titles to find recommendations on similar books, create wish lists, and even make purchases for books available online. Purchases that are made through your Online Fair and add to your total Book Fair sales.
Aurasma: Aurasma is an augmented reality app that’s changing the way millions of people see and interact with the world. It is available for the iPad®, iPhone® and Android™ mobile devices. What is Augmented Reality? Student’s master pieces, and other labeled images, will be hung in the school at Open House and when the Aurasma app (on any smart phone or tablet) scans this “trigger image” their video will then appear. Still curious? Try it out. On your smart phone or tablet, download theAurasma app and then scan an ordinary $1 bill. Watch what happens. It also worksfor the $20 bill. Next seach for Dassa and begin following our channel (you cannot see our videos unless you complete this step). Try it out! Check out the picture on Dassa McKinney’s Website (www.dassamckinney.webs.com) , run your camera over the trigger image of the library and see what appears.
ColAR Mix: See 1st grade drawings in beautifully hand-animated 3Dworlds! After reading the book “The Dot”by Peter H. Reynolds students took their art and writing skills and broughtthem to life. To see for yourself, download the ColAR Mix app, availablefor the iPad®, iPhone® and Android™ mobile devices (note: This Appd oesn't work on ipod and iphone3, 3S*).
