I know I'm in my own little world; But it's okay....they know me here
I am a self taught artist and have been painting for over thirty years. I live in a small town with my husband Ron, three children Jesse, Ronnie and Caitlin and our pets; Furby, a japanese chin, a black cat named Taco and a Quaker Parrot named Micah. I was blessed with my father's artistic nature. Although he never took art quite as seriously as I do, he could draw; especially cartoons. When we were young, he decorated our cigar boxes for elementary school with characters like "Snuffy Smith" and "Popeye the Sailor".
Dad was my best critic. I could always depend on him to give me a true opinion of my painting. If something didn't look quite right to me, I could ask him and sometimes I didn't like what he had to say, but he was usually right! I enjoyed art classes in school and was encouraged by my high school art teacher Mr. Dethorne Moore, to try my hand at painting.

My early years were spent experimenting mostly with oils . In the late 1970s when fabric painting became popular and "waterfowl painted" ties, handbags and skirts were the craze, I discovered the wonders of acrylic. At last I'd found my ideal painting medium. One thing I was never blessed with was patience and waiting for oils to dry took patience. For some time I still used oils to soften the lines in my acrylic portraits, but with experience I have learned how to produce the same results with acrylics.
Through the years I have painted a variety of subjects; landscapes, pets, people and their prized possessions such as houses, vehicles and tractors. I have painted on various objects other than canvas such as eggs (chicken, duck, goose, emu and ostrich), boat paddles, wooden step stools, signs, old barn wood, slate...etc....etc...Unfortunately, I didn't start taking photographs of my work until the past few years. The art on these pages reflects some of my more current work. Most of my paintings are commissioned artwork but when I have time, I just paint for the fun of it.
