Tails ( miles)

Miles "Tails" Prower

Tails is a young orange fox-boy who was born with twin tails (hence his nickname).  Tails looks up to Sonic and admires him as a hero and will do anything to be at Sonic's side for more adventuring.  Tails can use his two tails as mini-rotors to enable him to fly for a short time, he can also cary Sonic for short distances.  Tails, unlike Sonic, has also a natural ability to swim, using his paws as paddles in water.  Tails may be young but he has an uncanny ability to build machines and robots, indeed his mechanical skills almost rival that of Robotnik himself.  Tails uses his Bi-Plane Tornado to fly for longer distances and now utilises the Tornado 2 jet plane to cover large distance, Tornado 2 can also be transformed into the Cyclone at the touch of a button.  If Tails is able to absorb the power of all Seven Chaos Emeralds and 50 Golden Rings he can transform into Super Tails, a golden version of himself, aided by Chaos-Powered Flickie's.

Tails was introduced to the Sonic The Hedgehog gaming world in "Sonic The Hedgehog 2" on Master System although he did not play an active role, rather that of Doctor Robotnik's hostage.  Tails got an active role in "Sonic The Hedgehog Chaos" where he helped Sonic track down Eggman and the Chaos Emeralds.  Mega Drive owners were introduced to Tails in "Sonic The Hedgehog 2" where Tails was a playable character and could also be an on-screen buddy as well.  Tails recieved another role in "Sonic The Hedgehog 3" in which he could actually use his twin tails as propellors to fly for a short time.  Tails got his own title game in the form of "Tails' Adventures" and "Tails' Sky Patrol" for Game Gear.

In "Sonic Adventure" on Dreamcast, Tails used his mechanical skills to aid Sonic's quest to stop Chaos and in "Sonic Adventure 2" Tails takes on a larger and more active role in his Cyclone machine.  Tails returned to the skies in "Sonic Heroes", where he functioned as the Flying member of Team Sonic. Tails is also able to incorporate cybernetic weapons into his attacks, as seen in "Sonic Battle". Tails also has a cameo appearance in "Sonic Blast 3D: Flickie's Island", "Sonic The Hedgehog CD" and "Sonic The Hedgehog Triple Trouble".  It is rare that you will see Sonic and not see Tails too far behind.

Knuckles The Echida

Knuckles The Echidna

Knuckles was SEGA's big time production character when "Sonic The Hedgehog 3" was being made.  Knuckles played the role of gullible villian in Sonic 3, having been convinced by Doctor Robotnik that Sonic and Tails were the enemies looking to steal the Chaos Emeralds.  Knuckles was convinced that Eggman was the real enemy when he stole the Master Emerald.  Since that misunderstanding Sonic and Knuckles have always had a heated rivalry and mistrust of each other.

Approximately 15 years of age, Knuckles comes from an ancient race of Echidnas who once thrived on the Floating Angel Island.  An ancient aquatic life form known as Chaos was responsible for wiping out Knuckle's ancestors and Knuckles is the last remaining Echidna- sworn to protect the Master Emerald and Floating Island from all intruders.  Knuckles is gifted with the uncanny ability to glide with his dreadlocks for a short periods of time, he also has the ability to dig into the Earth and has uncharted strength.  Knuckles is also a superb martial artist and probably the world's greatest treasure hunter.

Knuckles had a cameo role in "Sonic Blast 3D: Flickie's Island" and "Sonic The Hedgehog Triple Trouble" before earning his first title role in "Knuckles' Chaotix" in which he teamed with Mighty The Armadillo, Vector The Crocodile, Charmie Bee and Espio The Chameleon.  Knuckles returned in "Sonic Adventure" in a quest to recover the shattered pieces of the Master Emerald, "Sonic Adventure" also introduced a fellow Echidna, Tikal, to the story.  Knuckles played a similar role in "Sonic Adventure 2" in which he raced against Rouge The Bat to recover the Master Emerald.  "Sonic Adventure" and "Sonic Adventure 2" sees Knuckles and Sonic finally patch up their differances. Their effectiveness at working together really came through in "Sonic heroes", where Knuckles used his strength to help Sonic and Tails fight against Eggman's battleships and then aided greatly in taking down Metal Sonic.

Knuckles, like Sonic, is able to absorb Emerald power to become Super and Hyper Knuckles.  Knuckles is a loyal and trustworthy ally but is also a loner by nature and preferes not to get involved in outsiders business, that said he does harbour a deep rooted grudge against Eggman.

Other Dark Side Characters

From Sonic The Hedgehog Triple Trouble- Nack The Weasel.  Also known as Fang The Sniper.  Nack is a jewel thief who had his eye on the Chaos Emeralds, he formed an unlikely alliance with Eggman and Knuckles to seize the power of the Chaos Emeralds but Sonic and Tails put a stop to their plans.  Nack has since played cameos in Sonic Drift Racing and Sonic R.  In Fleetway comics, Nack was a member of The Chaotix Crew but turned on them during a mission to destroy the Brotherhood Of Metallix, he continually popped up at the worst times to turn a bad situation worse with his Shrinking/Growing capsules and devious nature.

From Sonic The Hedgehog CD, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Sonic Heroes- The Metal Sonic Badniks.  In Sonic The Hedgehog 2 the Metal Sonic was a crude imitation of Sonic, called the Silver Sonic, it was easily destroyed aboard the Death Egg.  The Metallix Metal Sonic appeared in Sonic CD, kidnapping Amy Rose and feiling the Little Planet by altering time itself.  Metal Sonic is much more lethal, faster and more deadly than its predecessor, it sports a large cannon built into its chest plate and speed to match that of Sonic.  Metal Sonic appeared again in Sonic 3. As Mecha Sonic is was stronger than before it was able to absorb the power of the Chaos Emeralds to become Super Mecha Sonic.  However, Mecha Sonic was built to be a match for Sonic and proved inferior to Knuckles' brute strength.  Metal Sonic, and a Mecha Knuckles, appeared again in Sonic R and Metal Sonic popped up again in Sonic Adventure 2 Multi-Player. Metal Sonic made his big comeback in Sonic Heroes, where he used his new unique capabilities to copy the life form data from all the freedom fighters and transform himself into the ultimate Metal Overlord. However, he was defeated by Super Sonic and left in the hands of Shadow and Omega...

From Sonic And Knuckles- The Egg Robo.  This Eggman-like Badnik spead chaos and destruction around Floating Island to distract Knuckles whilst Eggman completed his Death Egg Space Station.  The Egg Robos come equipped with rocket packs and heavy-duty lasers and have appeared in other Sonic games recently; such as Sonic Adventure 2.  The E-1000 series of Badniks are an upgraded form of the Egg Robo.

From Sonic Adventure- Chaos.  A liquid beast from ancient times, Chaos has the ability to absorb the power of the Chaos Emeralds to grow stronger.  Chaos once wiped out a race of Echidna on Floating Island and was sealed away to protect the world.  Eggman released Chaos and fed him the Emeralds, eventually Chaos absorbed all the evil Chaos energy to become Perfect Chaos and only one thing could stop him; the power of the good Chaos energy personified in Super Sonic!  Super Sonic was able to put Chaos away and save the Earth from destruction.  Chaos's rage was calmed and he became the pacified protector of the Chao once more.  Chaos Zero is playable in Sonic Adventure 2's Multi-Player and also as a secret playable character in Sonic Battle.

From Sonic Adventure 2- Rouge The Bat.  An undercover spy for the American government and world class jewel theif, Rouge was sent in to infiltrate Eggman's plot to harnes the power of the ARK Space Coloney above Earth and to discover the secrets of "Project Shadow".  Rouge is an excellent martial artist, specialising in kicks and flying techniques.  Her treasure hunting abilities rival that of Knuckles himself.  Knuckles; determination to guard the Chaos Emeralds caused Rouge to have a change of heart and she handed over her pieces to Knuckles enabaling the Master Emerald to be restored in order to stop the rapid descent of the ARK.  Rouge makes her Anime debut in Sonic X and also is part of Team Dark, along with Shadow and "Omega", in Sonic Heroes as well as starring in Sonic Battle game on GameBoy Advance.

From Sonic Adventure 2- Shadow The Hedgehog.  The Ultimate Life Form created by Professor Gerald Robotnik aboard the Space Coloney ARK.  Shadow is an immortal with the power to warp anywhere instantaniously at light speed using the Chaos Control.  Shadow was ejected from the Space Coloney by his dying friend Maria Robotnik, Eggman's cousin, when a team ofsoldiers came to take him away.  Shadow made it his vow to fulfill Maria's last wish, unfortunately he assumed it was one of revenge and, along with Eggman, he harnessed the destructive powers of the ARK and threatened to destroy the Earth.  When the real Ultimate Life Form, the BioLizard, set the ARK on a crash course to Earth Shadow remembered Maria's true wish to see the Earth in peace after a pep-talk from Amy Rose.  Shadow absorbed Emerald power to become Super Shadow and, together with Super Sonic, destroyed the BioLizard.  Thought dead after this ordeal, Shadow awoke in an underground chamber in Sonic Heores. Suffering from immense amnesia, Shadow teamed up with Rouge and Omega to find the answers to what happened to him. This quest led Shadow to helping Sonic fight the rouge Metal Sonic. Shadow then found himself with less answers than before, even a brief encounter with Profesor Gerald's other pet project Emerl did little to help Shadow come to terms with himself. It remains to be seen just who and what Shadow really is...

From Sonic Heroes- E-123 "Omega. Omega is the last E-series Robot create dby Doctor Eggman. Omega was locked up in a sealed chamber with Shadow. This enraged Omega and he made it his mission to destroy all of Eggman's creations. This led to him joining forces with Shadow and Rouge to get their revenge on Eggman. This in tern led them into an encounter with the rogue Metal Sonic. After Super Sonic defeated the maniac Robot, Metal Sonic found himself in the hands of the powerful Omega...

From Sonic Advance 3- Gemerl. Gemerl is a copy of Emerl, the ultimate fighting Robot which defied Eggman and sacrificed itself to save the world in Sonic Battle. Little is known of Gemerl except that is has a tendancy to recover from attacks quickly and grow stronger after each fight. Gemerl eventually became too powerful for Eggman to control and Eggman was forced to once again join forces with Sonic to destroy Gemerl. However, Gemerl survived. Tails found Gemerl and used his knowledge of Robotics to re-program the Robot to be friendly to all life.

Other Good Side Characters

From Sonic Arcade- Ray The Flying Squirrel.  Ray starred alongside Sonic in his first Arcade adventure.  Ray is capable of flight and can use his tail to swing from poles.  In the Archie universe, Ray and Mighty are good friends and Ray is a key member of Chaotix and other Freedom Fighter groups, although essentially nothing is known about Ray's true characteristics.

From Sonic The Hedgehog 2- Super Sonic.  When Sonic absorbs the good energy of the seven Chaos Emeralds he transforms into a golden, lightning fast entity called Super Sonic.  Super Sonic is invunerable but his energy depends on the repeated absorbtion of Golden Rings.  Sonic can also transform into Hyper Sonic, a flashing golden Hedgehog of power.  Super Sonic has appeared in almost every Sonic The Hedgehog game after Sonic The Hedgehog 2.  Other Super and Hyper Hero Characters include Super Tails, accompanied by golden Flickie's, and Super/Hyper Knuckles.  In Fleetway comics, Super Sonic was a demon bent on destruction who was seperated from Sonic's body, lost his energy, turned good and then transformed into an evil demon whilst attempting to destroy Perfect Chaos.  In Archie comics, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles transform into their upgraded forms much like Dragonball Z Super-Saiyens to combat great threats.

From Sonic Blast 3D: Flickie's Island- The Flickie's.  Flickie's appeared as organic batteries in previous Sonic games but four Flickie's were introduced especially in Sonic 3D Blast.  These special types of Flickie's could travel in and out of Mobius's dimension using Giant Rings.  Eggman hoped to harness the power of these rings but was stopped by Sonic.  The traditional blue Flicky and its kind made a return in Sonic Adventure.

From Knuckles Chaotix- The Chaotix Crew.  Vector The Crocodile, Mighty The Armadillo, Espio The Chameleon and Charmy Bee.  This group of Freedom Fighters teamed up with Knuckles to take on Eggman as the diabolical Doctor attempted to once again take over Floating Island with six Chaos Rings.  Mighty first appeared in Sonic Arcade, alongside Ray.  Vector was originally part of Sonic's Band which was to feature in the sound test of "Sonic The Hedgehog One" but he never made the cut.  Charmy's design was used on a Badnik in the Rusty Ruin Zone of Sonic 3D Blast.  All of Chaotix, except Mighty, make their long-awaited return in Sonic Heroes, featuring their own "Sonic Adventure"-style redesigns. Together they joined the fight against the rogue Metal Sonic, despite the fact that they were fooled into working for Eggman.

From Sonic Adventure- Big The Cat and Froggy.  Big is a large, obese purple cat who loves to fish.  He got caught up in Sonic's quest to stop the liquid monster Chaos when Big's friend Froggy went missing.  Big's fishing techniques were useful for gaining Sonic Emblams.  Big makes cameo appearances in Sonic Adventure 2 but you have to look hard to see him.  Big is part of Team Rose, along with Amy and Cream, in Sonic Heroes.

From Sonic Adventure- E-102-Gamma and Flicky.  An upgraded Egg Robo who was created as one in a series of E-1000 series.  Gamma suffered a malfunction in its internal programming and aidied Amy Rose's escape from Eggman.  E-102-Gamma's organic battery is that of a female Flicky who was reunited with Amy's Flicky friend after Eggman's Airship was destroyed. The design of Gamma was re-used and turned into Chaos Gamma in Sonic Battle.

From Sonic Adventure- Tikal.  A female Echidna from an ancient tribe who were wiped out centauries ago by the liquid monster Chaos.  Tikal appeared as a small ball of light and revealed her powers in time to see the destruction of Perfect Chaos.  Tikal also played a cameo in Sonic Adventure 2 Multi-Player.

From Sonic Adventure- Chao.  Chao are peaceful little animals who can evolve and adapt when they absorb animals and Chao Drive.  Chaos is the protector of the Chao.

From Sonic Battle- Emerl. Emerl is the ultimate fighting Robot known as the Gizoid (meaning "Everything") which absorbs Chaos Emeralds and the fighting skills of others to grow stronger. Emerl will only listen to the one it establishes a "Link" with. Luckily for Emerl, he established a Link with Sonic, who, along with his friends, taught Emerl all sorts of attacks and moral values. Emerl was mis-used in the ancient past and responsible for the destruction of an ancient civilisation. Professor Gerald Robotnik found Emerl and discovered the secrets of Emerl's systems. Emerl sacrificed himself to save the world from Eggman's orbital laser cannon and his design was copied by Eggman to create Gemerl.

From Sonic Advance 2- Cream The Rabbit.  Cream is a high-jumping rabbit who is accompanied by a flying Chao companion called Cheese, Cream is able to fly by flapping her ears like wings.  Cream plays a cameo role in "Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut", is part of Team Rose, along with Amy and Big, in Sonic Heroes and will feature in the up-coming Sonic Battle game on Game boy.

Dynamite

Bean the Dynamite - Debut: Sonic the Fighters (Sonic Sega Character)

It is said that anyone with a fixation on explosives is leaning on the demented side. Bean is by no means an exception. This guy likes bombs, and he likes 'em a lot. Don't let his innocent facade fool you, this guy is hauling major firepower.

Other than hanging out in a dynamite factory, little is known of Bean. Though according to rumours (though this has not been confirmed), Bean could be the son of Bin, a character from the original Sega arcade classic Dynamite Dux.
