A Guide for DAoC Hunters

Lots of Options

You need to spec for 50 composite stealth, 32+ BC, and then figure out how to balance your melee and your archery based on play style. Some good stopping points in the melee lines include 39, 44, and 50. Some good stopping points in the archery line include 41, 43, 46, and 47--Pick what’s right for you. Don’t bother with 50 archery on a hunter. Stones are easy to come by these days, so don’t be afraid to experiment.

There are so many options we can’t discuss all of them, but some standard archetypal specs look like this:

Melee: 50 sword, 41 BC, Composite 50 stealth, rest bow.

Pure Sniper: 47-50  Bow, 41 or 50 BC, Composite 50 stealth, rest spear. I preffer the 47 bow, 50 BC option for kiting.

Hybrid: 44 melee (often spear), 32-33 BC, Composite 50 stealth, rest bow—which will be low to mid 40s depending on RR. Drop spear to 39 and pump those points into archery if you want a more bow-oriented hybrid spec.

The best starter spec is a hybrid spec: 46 bow, 39 spear, 33 BC, 35 stealth.

Still Stuck?

Hybrids: much like blondes, they have the most fun.

Melee hunters: get all the glory.

Bow hunters: shorter timers, much frustration. Consequently, they are found in groups more often than hunters who can melee.
