Hermann
Göring Division LHS is a WWII re-enactment group which consists of like
minded people from every walk of life who have a common interest in the
air arm of The Wehrmact, which was in active service from 1939-1945.
Our
membership includes, amateur historians, living history re-enactors and
vehicle collectors. We all
however have a main interest in the Hermann Goring Division, which for one
reason or another is less known about in comparison to other Units,
Regiments, or Divisions that fought during the Second World War.
One
of our main objectives is to educate the wider audience as to how this
Division grew into one of the best fighting units of WWII.
We do this by re-creating the uniforms of this elite Division,
displaying them, together with period vehicles and equipment at major
military shows around the UK. We
also participate in public and private battles, which re-create the
historic battles that were fought in the period 1939-1945.
HGD LHS portrays
the uniforms of this elite Division by wearing and displaying a wide and
varied range of impressions. Unlike
most other re-enactment Society’s in the UK we do not portray a specific
Kompanie at a specific time, our objective is portray the generic
fighting men of this Division who fought on all fronts in WWII.
As
you would expect, because of the nature of our hobby HGD LHS is fully
insured and each member is covered by the Groups Personal Liability
Insurance. This is one of the
main stipulations of being members of the National Association of
Re-enactors (NAReS). This is the only national body that represents re-enactors
interests and also ensures authenticity and safety standards are
continually reviewed and improved for all re-enactors in the UK. Its aims and members can be found here .
