HMS Danae

Singapore to New Zealand

After a long voyage, we found ourselves fighting our way into Sydney Harbour, Austrailia, through one of the worst storms in living memory. Highlight of the visit was seeing the Australian flag on the famous bridge replaced by the White Ensign. Danæ's Booties denied all knowledge. We quickly departed.

After a quick sail around Wellington harbour, with the Bunting Tossers (in full blues) busy painting the Signal Deck because of the unexpected visit of the media in helicopetrs, New Zealand offered fantastic hospitality at both Picton and New Plymouth, with queues of people inviting 'Jack' to their homes.

A second visit to Sydney followed, then we headed north to the Coral Sea for a quick exercise with the American, Royal Australian, Malayan and Royal New Zealand Navies.
