In 1996 the first Tomb raider game was released in fully 3D graphics which at the time were completely revolutionary. the aim of the game was to travel to exotic places and collect artifacts on the way leaving nothing behind except corpses and expended gun clips, it was a pretty straight forward good versus evil.
The next four games Tomb raider dagger of xian, Tomb raider the advertures of Lara croft,Tomb raider the last revelation and Tomb raider chronicles were all basically the same but were still very enjoyable.
Then came the ps2 and Lara had her first makeover ever which made her look less like her old self, which wasn't a bad thing but it left the dedicated players yearning for the old lara, this game was no longer just a straight cut good versus evil you could make choices this time, this scared some gamers but drew others toward the game.
Crystal dynamics has taken over for core desighn and developed Tomb raider legend and with it came yet another make over this time she looks more like the old lara, which was much apreciated by less recent gamers. This game has the same charactaristcs as AoD but has better environments, stories and characters. and a smother control system and even further enhanced graphics.
Crystal dynamics has taken over once again and desighned Tomb raider, Anniversary edition. This game is a re-make of the very first tomb raider game the characters have been drastically changed and improved, the environments in wich lara has been placed in this game have a great resemblance to those in the original TR game for the PS1. meaning that if you have played the original you will know where everything is in the game, (except the shotgun ;).) and it does feel alot more like the original TR games than Legend did because a little bit of the atmosphere in the game has been restored, if you liked legend this game is for you. if you didn't don't knock it untill you've tried it.
