Welcome to Proverbs 31 Nubians!
I love my goaties, and have gotten to the point of not
knowing how I got along without them! They are fun, entertaining, and
very useful here on the farm.
We got into meat goats (Boer) for the children to
have a profitable hobby/business that would further their education.
It's alot of work, but rewarding; caring for the goats and educating
ourselves about all that's involved in buying, raising, breeding,
showing, and selling these animals has been fun, and something we can
do as a family.
We got into Dairy goats because we had a need. The kids love milk- and
we all love yogurt, cheese, and any kind of dairy product! But...Tori
and Taylor had allergies and asthma that was bad enough to cause us to
have to give medications that had undesirable side effects. Tori
had been getting allergy shots for years with only partial relief, and
we had to make the trek to the specialists' office every three months.
No good. We decided we had to quit milk - at least for a trial, because
a friend had given me an article about cow's milk, pasteurized milk,
and the effects of all the growth hormones and antibiotics pumped into
the dairy animals in commercial herds.
When we moved here, we had already been convinced of the health
benefits of raw milk, and especially that of goat milk. I am happy to
report that a year later both children are completely off their
prescriptions and suffering no symptoms of allergies or asthma.
Debi Hopkins wrote a very good and easy to understand article recently.
I hope you will find it helpful and inspiring! Good health is such a
blessing.

We dam raise our kids. They drink healthy, raw milk from their CAE
negative dams. Pastuerized milk is dead milk. It hasn't got the same
immune system-building and nutriative qualities as God-given, raw milk.
~* They are handled daily by children and VERY friendly. We test for CAE annually.
~*
They are disbudded, vaccinated, treated with cocci prevention at 21 days
for five consecutive days, wormed, and tattooed before they are sold.
~*
We will not sell goats to homes without another goat for company, or
one without proper fencing. Tethering isn't acceptable.
~* I discourage people from buying my goats for "brush eaters",
unless they will also be well-cared for pets, because
they generally do not have a humane life when winter comes and they
become too much of a chore. They often go without proper shelter,
water, worming and get chased by neighborhood dogs.
This
is Clair and her kids, Jonathon, Bella, and Max.
