	It all started when Nagao Dai was hired by Avex as a composer. Avex recognised Dai's talent as he was asked to compose songs for singers like Ayumi and Hitomi, which became very popular. But Dai had a dream, which is to have his own band. Avex gave him the chance when they selected Van Tomiko as the vocalist and Ryo Owatari as the guitarist. The trio released their debut single 'Tangerine Dream' on 29th September 1999. They started humbly in the beginning, performing live at the streets of Shibuya and other places. After a few years of hardwork, they managed to gain vast popularity in Japan and beyond, reaching out to fans all over the world. It's a pity that Dai decided not to make appearances and participate in DAI's giggs anymore. But even with him going behind the scene, DAI is still going strong through Van-chan's captivating voice and Ryo-san's masterful guitar skills.
