Hybrid High

Here I will be adding Hybrid High short stories. I have so many ideas for Hybrid High, but some of them have nothing to do with the story or won't fit into the story, so I'm turning them into short stories! I only have one finished and I'm working on some more. They will give you some info on what Hybrid High is like and what the students are like, and (hopefully) will entertain you. And they usually have to do with events that are going on, like Holidays.

          Rem woke up and looked at her clock. It showed “12:06 PM.” She had slept late again. She looked around the room to see everyone else was gone. Then she got up, got dressed, and got ready to head out for another summer day at Hybrid High.

          Before she opened the door, she noticed the calendar that Myst hung on the door. X’s marked all the days that passes. Rem looked at today’s date. 4^th of July! Independence Day!

          It was the day that Americans celebrated their freedom. Most Hybrids hated this day. They can’t celebrate; they are not free.

          Tears started to form in Rem’s eyes. She wondered when Hybrids would get their freedom. Would it be ever?

          She wiped the tears away and went to the cafeteria. Today they were serving roast beef and Italian subs. She picked up a roast beef sub then headed to the snack section to get a few muffins, her favorite treat. Then she went to the soda machine to get a Sprite.

          After she got her meal, she sat down at a table. None of her friends were there yet, but her rival, Irana, was there. The exchanged their usual, unfriendly glares and continued eating. When she finished eating she cleaned up and headed out the door.

          As soon as she got to the door, Myst, Lenora, and Luke came in.

          “Hey Rem,” Luke greeted.

          “You guys have the worst timing,” Rem replied.

          “Well maybe you should’ve woke up, lazy bum,” Myst taunted.

          “Why didn’t you wake me up?!”

          “Don’t you think we tried?” Lenora said. “Trying to wake you up is like trying to talk to Myst when she’s reading. Impossible.”

          “Oh, well… I’m going to the beach. You guys gonna meet me there?”

          All three of them nodded their heads and went to go get lunch.

          Rem headed to her dorm to get a bathing suit. All her clothes were all over her bed and on the ground. She bent down and picked up a red two-piece bathing suit, then went into the bathroom to change.

          Once she was all changed, she put on her sandals, grabbed a towel that was lying on her bed, and headed to the beach. Of course, first she had to go through the forest, which was filled with Hybrids playing their silly games.

          She spotted Kano threatening her sister, Nica, but it never seemed to work.

          “Hey Kano,” Rem called. “Wanna get away from your sister and go to the beach,” she whispered, so Nica wouldn’t hear.

          “Yeah, I just gotta get my bathing suit. I’ll meet you there.”

          Rem nodded and walked away. As she walked, she could hear Nica’s loud and annoying voice pestering Kano on where she was going.

          Finally she got to the beach. There weren’t many Hybrids here today, since the staff was going to host paintball in the forest soon. But she did see Kahna, Hector, and Wisp.

          “Eek, a shark! A shark!” Rem joked as she swam near Kahna.

          “Very funny,” Kahna said, sarcastically, and then went under water.

          Soon Rem’s friends came and they swam until it got dark. They would’ve gone for a night swim if Mr. Duke hadn’t come.

          “We’re going to be showing fireworks here, so we need everyone to clear out of the water,” He explained.

          “Fireworks? What if humans notice?” Myst worried.

          “Don’t worry. They’re too enthralled by their own firework shows.”

          Then they all exchanged glances and hurried out of the water.

          “Woo hoo! Fireworks!” Rem yelled and danced around.

          Soon more and more Hybrids gathered at the beach, some of them paint stained. Of course Nica came over and stood next to Kano, ready to annoy her.

          A loud test firework went off and everyone sat on the beach, looking up at the sky. Then came the actual show. It was beautiful, even though it came from humans. Colors filled the sky and for once, Rem forgot about all the troubles between Hybrids and humans. She could be sitting next to one right now, and she wouldn’t care.

          The fireworks were that great.
