Questions and Answers

Q: Isn't this just Age of Empires?

A:  Not exactly, as both are historical based RTSes, this mod will feature a wider span of history, and instead of advancing by ages, the game will progress through various technolgies.

Q: Technologies?

A: Just like in Civilization, technologies represent various human acheivments and are the mark of progress.  Thus, If you want to build spearmen, you research bronze working, if you want temples, you research ceremonial burial.  You are allowed only a few basic structures and units at the start of the game, and you must research technolgies in order to gain access to better units.

Q: How realistic will it be?

A:  The game will favor balance over realism, however, certain measures will be taken to ensure that certain units triumph over others.  Units with bronze and iron armour may be able to take mopre shots from melee weapons, but gunpowder units will ignore this armour, thus guving them a large advanatage, just in real life.  What does this mean for you?  No more spearmen killing tanks.

Q: Release date?

A: A long long long time from now.  Check the various sections to see our progress.  There is a demo out too.  I might make a release for each age that I complete.

Q: What is a temple and how does it work?

A: The temple is a building that heals your units a slow rate.  As you progress, you will gain access to more effective means such as cathedrals and eventually hospitals.  But the temple is the cheapest and first one available to you.

Q: How many civilizations will there be?  And how will they be different?

A:  I am shooting for all 32.  However, if each side only having access to 1 special unit may seem boring, then I will condense them.  Each civilization will have access to 1 special unit that only it can build.  This unit will replace another unit similair to it.  For example the romans build legionaires instead of swordsmen.  Each civilization will also gain a trait which makes them more efficent in one area; seafaring, militaristic, scientific.... Each civ wil also fall into a cultural category which only affects the artwork of that faction; those being meso-american, grece-roman, middle-eastern,  european, and east-asian.

Q; What is a settler?

A: The settler will take the place of the MCV.  That is, you will start the game with one and deploy it to make your first city.
