Replacing Pollen Filter

Lift up the bonnet and go to the Cowl Panel. The Cowl Panel is the length of plastic that runs the length of the windscreen glass and separates the windscreen from the engine bay. It can be seen in the following piccy as the plastic with the group of raised vents for the air intake on it.

Remove the three screws that hold the Cowl Panel in place (circled in yellow in the piccy below) using a Torx 25 headed screwdriver.

Now, lift off the weatherstrip edging (see next piccy). This edging strip stops water from running down the windscreen and into the engine bay. If you don’t lift it out the way, it will catch between the wing and the corner of the windscreen when you try to raise the Cowl Panel).

Gently raising the Cowl Panel, you’ll be able to see the Pollen filter hiding inside. In the piccy below, you can see the Pollen filter release catch (circled in yellow). Push and lift the catch gently and the filter will be released. You can now remove the old filter from it’s housing under the Cowl Panel.

For comparison, the next piccy has the old Pollen filter on the left and the new Pollen filter on the right.

Please note the next piccy highlights the location of the release catch which must be installed with the catch facing towards the front of the car.

Once again, lift the Cowl Panel up and slide the new Pollen filter into place, ensuring the release catch clicks into position as shown below.

Re-fit the Cowl Panel edging trim and replace the 3 screws to ensure the Cowl Panel is secured in place once more. Job done. Please check the condition of the Pollen filter every 10,000 miles to ensure optimum performance.
