SUMMER 2006
Due to our success in being awarded a grant from the Local Network Fund, we were able to supply 2 coaches Josh Palmer and Matt Nash to teach Chantry children and young people aged between 5 and 25, this was very well attended and enjoyed by all.
At the end of the programme the children put on a display for their parents showing them what they had learnt over the last 6 weeks.
England and Ipswich under 18 coach Nick Drane came along with 3 of his top players from the Ipswich Tomcats Squad to answer questions raised by the children and award them with certificates for taking part.
Suffolk ACRE have said that as they were so pleased with the organisation of the programme and that it was so well attended they would be happy to extend it - so keep an eye on the 'Future coaching programmes' page where confirmations of dates and times will be posted.
This was made possible with thanks to Suffolk ACRE and the 'Local Network Fund'
Ever wanted to play basketball like Michael Jordan or perhaps you can already play but would love to impress your mates by learning new flashy ball skills. Or you just want something to keep you occupied in the long school summer holiday. Chantry Youth Development Initiative have been successful in obtaining funding from The Local Network Fund to pay for professional coaches to come to the basketball court along Hawthorn Drive and teach you the wonders of basketball.
12 – 16 / 6.00pm – 7.30pm
17 – 25 / 7.30pm – 9.00pm
All participants will be awarded a certificate of attendance at the end of the programme
So just come along at the times suitable for your age and we will register you as a member of the programme and the rest is up to you, learn, have fun but most of all enjoy yourself!
Thanks to the Local Network Fund for making this possible.
Please note: All children under 11 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to and from the court and ideally remain with the children and give support to the basketball coaches – The organisers, CYDI, can not be responsible for children outside of the court.
