It's rather hard to describe oneself, I must admit. What's much easier is to
describe who I think I am.
So let's start with the basics. My name is Athena Jiang and I'm going to be a sophomore in High Tech
High School. And that's all, because I dislike making everything so...basic.
I'm turning 14 in November and I live in New Jersey, which happens to be one of the most uninteresting
yet desirable places to live in. Come on...the beach is only five minutes away, and that makes
everyone happy. In addition to the nice beach, living in Monmouth County also gives me access to an
uberkewl school known as
HTHS. It's a rather small school, with under 250 students, but 90% of the
people think that it's amazing beyond comparison, as do any visitors. The best expression on their
faces is when they see all of our giant, maroon,
open lockers. The enivornment is highly
conducive to trusting one another, and the fact that we are #1 in the state and that we admit the
best people from each town doesn't hurt either.
Now, more about myself...I guess a good way to summarize me would be "subtly memorable". For instance,
I'm Asian and a wonderful perpetrator of the oh-my-god-you're-Asian-so-you're-brilliant stereotype.
But people also think of me as more-as the hyper person dashing through the halls, as the distributor
of public domain assignments, as the midget who doesn't eat enough, drinks too much caffeine, then
goes pressing buzzers for academic team...and somehow get a bunch of questions right. I happen to
like flip flops and bubble tea, laugh at excessive girliness, and I'm also quirky as hell. Lack of
parallel structure there, but English class is over and I can write however I so choose.
And yes, I do like to write. All the visitors are probably from the HPRPG, so you know that I
frequent that site. Plus I'm in the middle of 4 or so fanfictions, as well as just having started an
original story. But I don't have any hopes or aspirations to get published for fiction; I don't think
I have that kind of potential or creativity or just plain talent. Besides, it's pretty easy for me to
admit to things, as it just makes it even easier for me to pursue the sorts of activities I really
happen to like.
As befitting a girl from the geek school, I have an insane fascination with just about all things
technological, scientific, or mathematical. Except biology, which I just took and happened to despise
for its excessive rote memorization. Other than that, I expect to wind up in one of those fields,
applied or otherwise, as a career. Trust me, everything's all going to click...eventually.
Over the past year, however, I've also become more interested in sociology and politics, mostly due
to a certain person in my classes whom I respect for his thoughts and theories and whom I can hold
an intelligent argument with whenever necessary. Unfortunately, being a yellow person doesn't give any
advantage for being a lawyer or a politician. So maybe I'll settle for business, a nice combination
of science and the humanities?
Anyway, I think that's enough rambling about myself. So enjoy your day, and au revoir until our paths
cross again.
