The story of Harry Potter's world continues 2 years after his would-be Graduation from Hogwarts. It is the story of their reconstruction, and the growing threat that looms from the muggles they were trying to save.
With Voldemort finally defeated, the Wizarding World can sleep a little easier at night. But perhaps this growing ease is a mistake?
Perhaps some are left wondering at what cost did they survive, while others are simply thankful for their good fortune. The only thing everyone knows for sure is that Voldemort is gone...and now what?
After graduation, many students went on to help their respective sides in the growing shadow of the war. Aurors were trained quickly, and in some cases, shoddily. When war hit, both sides suffered many losses.
But the height of the war only lasted for one year. In the midst, Hogwarts was partially destroyed. But as with many things, the process of rebuilding included new growth. It was decided that Hogwarts should be expanded to include a Wizarding University.
About another year later, in the midst of Winter, Hogwarts was whole once more. The University is now open to many students, eager to recapture their Hogwart's days or build their knowledge. Acceptance is based on NEWT levels, and no one is denied because of former affiliation. It is, afterall, a time for new beginnings.
The University is separate from Hogwarts. Dorms are available, but students will be encouraged to find off-campus accomodations in Hogsmeade or London. Some former graduates will, of course, choose not to go back to Hogwarts or will not have high enough NEWT scores to attend. These citizens, however, will no doubt find some hope in the fact that life goes on in the Wizarding World, and the University is a shining beacon of this ideal.
Voldemort had a way of planting the seed of fear and cultivating it to his purposes. During the height of the war it was very simple, indeed, to reveal the carefully hidden Wizarding World to the Muggles. But it didn't last for long. Tirelessly, the Ministry of Magic worked with Muggle officials to put out the wildfire of discovery and any muggle backlash against wizards was stamped out quickly as Voldemort was finally defeated.
The Wizarding World has been rebuilding ever since, and the full attention of the Ministry of Magic has been turned to that daunting task. Now that things have settled, the memory of the Muggles discovering this world rebuilt is an unthreatening half-dream.
But the fires haven't been completely extinguished, and they grow more fierce everyday. Too late has the Ministry realized the growing danger, and the veil between the worlds has finally dissolved, leaving Wizards open to the persecuting whims of the Muggle world once more. There is no going back now, no putting out the fire for it has burned quietly and for too long.
