Cub Scout Pack 202

Webelos Plan Blanket Drive

As a service project, the webelos dens of Pack 202 are  organizing a "Blanket Drive" to benefit BUCM (Burke United Christian Ministries).  Due to recent cutbacks, BUCM is low on funds available to people in need of assistance with heating bills this winter.  The high cost of fuel and high unemployment in Burke County has increased the need for assistance in fuel bills.  To help out, we are asking that anyone that would like bring new or gently used blankets to the scout hut.  We will take these blankets to BUCM and they will distribute them. We had very good results with our coat drive and this should be a good project for us as well.  Please spread the word to your families and churches so we can help make a difference.  Everyone deserves to be warm this winter.

Webelos Attend Boy Scout Camporee

A group of our webelos scouts attended the annual Tablerock District Fall Camporee this past weekend. We were the largest group in attendance for the event, including all boy scout troops!  Our group consisted of 11 Webelos II scouts and 1 Webelos I scout.  Bubba Keller attended for Troop 202 and acted as Senior Patrol Leader.  Both the Cobra and Dragon patrols were well represented.  Our group was asked to do an opening flag ceremony and also serve as the choir to lead the singing for the Sunday worship service.
At the conclusion of the camporee it was stated by other scoutmasters that had they been eligible, they would have received the Spirit Award.  They were however, given an honorary Spirit Award.  They were the only group that was in full Class A uniforms at every flag ceremony and each patrol also presented a skit for the campfire program alongside the Boy Scout Troops in attendance.  They represented  Pack 202 very well and we are very proud of them.  They have set the standard high for the next camporee.

Way to go Guys!!! Check out photos from the event on the photo gallery page.
