Pack Leaders Begin Year of Celebration Recognition Program

Pack 219 has kicked off the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Scouting by having all registered leaders participate in the "Year of Celebration" recognition program.  This program is designed to provide a meaningful way to participate in the 100th Anniversay while increasing awareness in the core values of Leadership, Achievement, Community Service, Character and the Outdoors.

Once the program has kicked off and is in full swing with the pack leaders, Pack 219 will expand the program to include the Cub Scouts and Den Chiefs.

                                    Scouts Honor Veterans

Glen Alpine Scouts from Pack 219 and Troop 197 participated in the Burke County Veteran's Day ceremony at Patton High School and honored local veteran's by presenting them with stars from retired American flags in recognition for their service to our nation.  The scouts are pictured with Dale Wilson, a USMC veteran and 2009 National Disabled Veteran of the Year.

                                Care Packages for the Troops

Pack 219 has started gathering items for two care packages that will be sent to local troops serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan.  We will be sending a package to Spc. Allen Schoenen and Spc. Joe Winebarger, who are currently deployed to Iraq.  Another package will be sent to Sgt. Obie Carswell, who is currently serving in Afghanistan.  All three of these soldiers are from Burke County and are serving their country proudly.  Pack 219 has a proud history of sending care packages to our troops and we are honored to be able to do this again this year.  A supply list will be posted on the website, as well as at GAUMC.
