In this Walmart made world, it seems that people are starting to look for change.  A collective of artists and crafters from around the state have come together under the umbrella of Etsy.com and BuyHandmade.org to try and redirect consumers to an emerging movement: craftivism.

WHAT IS ETSY? 
 If you haven’t heard of Etsy before, the CT Etsy Street Team would like to change that.  Etsy is an online market place where art and craft in all mediums can be bought and sold. Each artist sets up their own virtual shop and uses Etsy resources, as well as their own to build a customer base. Etsy's mission is to help rebuild the economy while also helping artists to make a living and reconnect makers with buyers.

WHAT IS THE CONNECTICUT ETSY TEAM?

The team was an idea of Etsy, to start grouping people by location or craft to work together to promote each other as well as the site. How each team goes about that is a completely up to them. 

The CT Etsy Street Team is a group of small business owners from around the state, who are predominantly women.  As a team, they hope to interest the public with their individual wares, as well as steer people away from products that are mass-produced while also trying to make Etsy a household name.
