Students from as young as 3 years old (pre-primary) can begin to develop an appreciation
of music, drama and movement through free dance body awareness, simple co-ordinated steps,
and have the opportunity to participate in a short routine at the annual concert.
Those students 6 years and over are encouraged to enter the Royal Academy of Dancing
(R.A.D.) examinations at their appropriate grade level. This syllabus is recognised
world-wide and while classical style and technique are paramount, it incorporates Free
Movement and Character.
Free Movement encourages individual freedom, expression and breadth of
movement, while Character encourages strength, musicality and rhythm. Older grades
may also be given the option of trying the Russian Method.
Classical students from 3 years to senior look forward to our annual concert. They
may be involved in a routine or have a character role in our story book performance.
Whatever their role, they work hard and enjoy the experience.
