1/1

As a discussion leader, it is my duty to make sure that you guys learn the material and understand the concepts and mechanisms involved in Organic Chemistry. More importantly, I hope to pass on a passion for those possibly interested in Organic Chemistry. It is a difficult subject, but nevertheless easy to master if you approached the subject the right way.

This website has been created on January 05, 2007 and will be updated periodically over the years. It contains concise information on the main topics in Organic Chemistry. I do not particularly like the idea of giving away answers since I feel that it is the student's responsibility to pick up problem-solving skills, and eventually find the joy of learning and discovery. Hence I will touch on the main issues in the textbook (Vollhardt and Schore), emphasizing certain tricks and theories outside the book, and will post extra questions and exercises that is unattainable from the book.

My approach to Organic Chemistry will be from a structural point of view, stressing the understanding of the general structure of a number of organic molecules, identifying functional groups, predicting possible electronic environments of molecules, and finally use these fundamental ideas to solve the notorious problems in Organic Chemistry that really don't "require much memorization".
