1) What is a crystal?

A crystal is a regularly-repeating atomic structure that is formed from building-block-like units of matter.  It is also a tool one may use for healing the mind, body, and spirit.  Crystals form inside of the earth through heat and pressure which cause its atoms and molecules to follow a blueprint (crystalline encoding).  These molecules take on the most stable form possible by repeating until the crystal is fully formed.

2) What is crystal healing?

 

Crystal healing is a form of vibrational medicine in which subtle energy given off by a crystal is used to treat the body, the mind, and the spirit.  Since crystals emit beneficial energetic vibrations, introducing them into one’s energy field can actually help to repair energetic imbalances within the ethereal body.  For this reason, crystal healing can be performed on anything that possesses an energy field, be it a person, a plant or animal, or the environment.

 

Although crystals have been used to treat the body, mind, and spirit, crystal healing is not meant to replace conventional medicine.  Instead, it should be used along with allopathic treatments to compliment and enhance them.  The most important thing to keep in mind when beginning to use crystals for healing purposes is that a crystal’s power is relatively inert until one intentionally directs its energy.  It is not the crystal that possesses healing energy; it is one’s intent to heal, by way of the crystal, which manifests results.

 

The art of crystal healing has been present in many eras and cultures, some dating back for thousands of years.  It was commonplace in ancient Hebrew and Mayan societies as well as in the Native American, Indian, and Tibetan cultures.  Although not yet fully accepted by Western medicine, its methods are still often used and prescribed in many other parts of the world.  Since each type of crystal carries with it a unique energetic vibration, certain types of crystals can be utilized in the treatment of specific physical, emotional, or spiritual ailments.

3) What are chakras and how do they relate to crystal healing?

Chakras are vortices of energy found in the energy field of the human body.  These energy centers act as satellites to the universe, taking in energy, using it to influence the mind, the body, and the spirit, and then returning it back to the universe.  Each chakra rules aspecific section of the physical body, specific emotions, and certain aspects of one’s spiritual self.  There are seven major chakras found along the spine, but there are many other minor chakras located all throughout the physical body.

In crystal healing, the seven chakra system is typically used.  However, there are many minor chakras that can be used under particular circumstances.  In fact, all of these chakras are influenced by the crystal's healing energy during a healing session, but the energy is more precisely directed to the body's seven main energy centers.

4) I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction - I am about to under take a University course - but I, at times, can't focus.  I need to be more focused in order to get through my intense 3 months of learning and examinations for me to be able to continue with my studies. I have been looking for a focusing crystal to channel all my energies to get through this. I have heard of Ulexite - this is to bring Focus and Insight.  I am unfamiliar with this and hope you can help.      -Jane Turner, Liverpool, England

There are a few recommendations that I can make for you, but choose the crystal that you are most attacted to and that feels right for you.  Ulexite brings clarity and lucidity to all activities, although you may need to use a grounding stone (such as Black Tourmaline or Red Jasper) as its energy can leave one a little in the clouds.  Therefore, Ulexite would not be my top recommendation (also, it can be a bt pricey depending on current availability).  A stone like Fluorite (any color will do, but especially green or violet) may be a better choice.  This stone aids in enhancing focus and concentration (especially while studying or while learning new things).  Golden tiger's Eye aids in pulling together many details to make sense of a whole, so this may also be a good choice if you are required to memorize many facts, etc.  You may also do well with a simple Clear Quartz (also known as RockCrystal) as this crystal amplifies intention.  If your intention is to be focused and absorb material from your studies, then clear quartz can work well for you.  I hope that this information finds you well and helps you in the coming months.
