Anne is a performer in her own right as well as the organiser of the Crystal Folk club, she has appreared at numerous festivals notably, Upton on Severn, Alcester, Wolverhampton, Sutton Coldfield Valentines Festival, Burntwood. She has headlined numerous gigs and has supported such artistes as Vin Garbett and Jez Lowe. Apres gig notes - On Sunday we made the trek to the Station Hotel, Station Street, Sutton Coldfield home of the "Jug O Punch Folk club" which runs on the last Sunday of each month. We were accompanied by SueStevens from the Lighthouse who was hoping for a floor spot. We did not know what to expect as we had never visited the Club before. The station Hotel would seem to be a Victorian establishment, its large, airy, sparsly furnished and sells a good range of guest beers, last year it was home to the Sutton Valentine Folk Festival organised by Bob Lines, as its name suggests its situated oposite the railway station in Sutton. The Folk Club was held in an upstairs room which had re cently been decorated in an entirely different style to downstairs some wouild stay in the "Fanny Hill" style, luxurious reds,deep armchars, drapes, subdued lighting and wooden floor, not at all what we expected really and WARM, not your usual Folk Club experience. The event was quite well attended, more audience than performers and we were made very welcome by the organisers.
Proceedings kicked off with floor spots from Joe Lee, Sue, and Nick, Margaret and Des (making their debut as a duo), Doreen and John. The compere was Aidan Mullinder. Anne performed 2 45 minute spots puntuated by an interval and more floor singers. The set was very well received and finished promptly at 11pm (the Landlord evidently does not want anyone hanging around much after this). We would like to thank the organisers for a very pleasant evening and the audience for their appreciation, we would recommend a visit if you are in the area.
