Steele finishes 10th in Scottish Open

Julian Steele today finshes a creditable 10th place in the Scottish Open at Houston in a meeting full of world class riders. The meeting was won by Tipton's Lee Peron. The meeting provided Julian with some good experiences of the riding against some of the best riders in the World and he was greatful to his promotion for giving him the opportunity, "I really enjoyed myself out there today, obviosuly I would have liked to have scored a few more points but all in all I have got to be happy because in reality the field was almost good enough to be World Final quality. Its great that James keeps giving me the opportunity in riding in meetings like this and it can only help in the long run in terms of me acheiving my full ambition of one day becoming World Champion."

 



Cougars stay top.

The Cougars won a hard fought meeting tonight against the Everton Steelers by 48-42 with home star Lewis Henry continuing his good form with 14 points leading the team to victory. Henry was ably supported by the remainder of the team each rider contributing points at key stages most notably Ricky Beech who provided two heat wins in his score of 7 points including in Heat 3 when Julian Steele was excluded and in Heat 14 to guarantee the victory for the Cougars.

Cougars scores: Lewis Henry 14(5), Julian Steele 8(5), Ricky Beech 7(4), Darren Rice 7(4), Dave Turvey 7(6), Phil Powell 3+2(3), Neil Hayward 2(3).



Cougars unchanged for visit of Everton

Monday 17th July 2006

The Cougars have announced that the team will be unchanged for the first eveer meeting between the Cougars and new boys Everton Steelers. The team are looking to maintain there unbeaten start to the season, although opposing riders Greg Goss and Toby Jeffers are likley to pose some problems for the Cougars, however Team Manager and Promoter James Calderbank is confident of victory, "Obviously is going to be a tough meeting against Everton but with the boys in the form that they are in, in particular Lewis Henry we are confident of the win and hopefully put ourselves in a good position to win the bonus point later on in the season.

Cougars announce Individual

Monday 10th July 2006

The Cougars are delighted to announce the Blue Flag Holidays Individual will take place this year on Thursday 5th October 2006. Last years event was a great success with a great line up and a bumper crowd with the promotion hoping for much the same in this season's event.

Entries are to be accepted from all riders with no limits on averages and the like. One riders definately competing will be home star Julian Steele, with the meeting again giving the 18 year old Steele a great opportunity to perform against more experience performers.

Further announcements regarding the field will be announced in due course.



Henry leads Cougars to Irlam win

Lewis Henry scored a faultless 15 point maximum today to lead the Cougars to an impressive away victory at Irlam Tigers this afternoon. Henry and boy wonder Julian Steele guaranteed victory in a last heat 5-1, with Steele proving his class coming from last to 2nd to join teammate Henry who was untouchable from the start all afternoon. The duo were ably backed up by the remainder of the team whom all got vital points throughout the meeting.

Cougars scores: Lewis Henry 15(5), Julian Steele 10+1(5), Dave Turvey 7(5), Darren Rice 6(4), Ricky Beech 4+3(4), Phil Powell 3+1(4), Neil Hayward 2(3).



Academy side struggle at Coventry

Thursday 6th July 2006

After last weeks impressive opening to the Academy season, the Cougars junior team struggled to come to terms with the track conditions and finished a disapointing 4th place in the meeting at Coventry, Dover Titans won the meeting with 29 points from home side Coventry (27), Aisha's Motors (24) and the Cougars on 16. 15 year old Tim Sanderson was the best performing rider with 8 points from his 4 rides, whilst Simon Fish scored 6 from his 4 rides.
