Ndoli Out At Sea After Clash With Land
|
Cronies were left reeling after only managing to gain a draw with their match against Newtown Youth. The All Blacks started off poorly and lacked postional organisation from the off with striker Mark Flay playing as a defender and lynchpin Niall Martin playing as an attacker. This confusion led to Shitown taking a 2 goal lead. The first goal was an absolute blast from the past by Dave McOrangesocks. His thunderbolt left keeper Matt Webb flailing like a trout on the end of Captain Birdseye's rod. He made up for this though with a string of fine saves to keep the score down to a small margin. Unfortunately Newgays stole a second goal after a flukey shot snuck in. This was the catalyst Cronies needed to push on and try and claw back the match. Despite being clearly the better TEAM they just couldn't find the goal they craved with both Flay and Frank Ndoli hitting the woodwork. The referee, Tim nice but dim, was also failing to help matters by penalising Cronies players for even touching Aaron 'Wank' Land. Tiernan West felt the refs wrath after Land ran into him from behind whilst West was in possession of the ball. Unfortunately for the 'City Boys' this was a sign of things to come. There was enough time left in the first half for James Ndoli to slot home a reply. At half time Cronies were forced into a major tactical reshuffle as West was forced off ,due to a terrible hand injury sustained whilst challenging fellow Cronie Michael Benyon during Beacon Knights clash with Elmore, and Matt Webb was unable to continue in goal through a dislocated elbow, maybe. This meant that Billy Rouse, who was due to be sitting out and serving his 1 match suspension was forced to play in goal and Webb took his place outfield. Cronies started livelier than their poor opponents but this did not stop them restoring the 2 goal advantage after another lucky goal. This spurred on The Villagers and they were determined to pull it back. But once again the man in the middle conspired against them by booking Sunday League debutant Niall Martin for shoulderbarging Aaron Land off the ball. He was booked for winning the ball fairly to the dismay of his teammates. Newtown's Aaron Matthews reacted angrily to the challenge however and tried to confront Martin, only to be booked for his troubles. That was Newtown's second yellow of the game as they were a dirtier team. Ndoli managed to pull another goal back for CFC with another good strike after glorious team play from Flay. They could have equalised aswell shortly after with player/manager Matt Webb striking the post with a speculative effort. The ball just didnt want to go for Cronies but when it seemed like they didnt have a chance they were handed a lifeline when theyre defender stepped in his own box. Ndoli stepped up and squared the tie from the penalty spot, which sent the shit keeper the wrong way. The ball finally seemed to be in Cronies court when a moment of madness from Tim ruined the game as a spectacle for all involved. Aaron Land was running down the left flank with the ball but got it stuck under his feet as Frank 'Bruno' Ndoli tackled him. Ndoli came away from the challenge with the ball at his feet but, due to Land being possibly the weakest person in the world he fell onto the bar which opens the fire door and fell through the door in a dramatic dive which Pires would have been proud of. For this 'foul' Ndoli received his marching orders because in the words of Tim, "He made no attempt to play the ball and it was reckless." When Webb queried him over his decision saying, "There was no intent there, he won the ball fairly!" He could only repost with, "I am not even going to respond to that!". Not long after this incident he blew the whistle for full time with Cronies still in attack and looking good for a winner. However this was just the start of things to come with some unsavoury moments after the final whistle. The arrogant keeper got in a stressy with Webb and refused to shake his hand after Webb accidently propelled the ball in his general direction. This started a confrontation between the players but was quickly diffused by Tim. Things didn't improve for the team from this moment though. as Ndoli walked back in to get his stuff from the dugout Tim came over to tell him he had a 1 match ban for his red card. Frank refused to accept this though and when threatend with an extended 3 week ban, he replied, "Yeah so what bruv, gimme a 3 week ban". So he got one. Matters worsened for the young man outside the sportshall with Tim telling him that if he failed to calm down and stop gobbing off he would receive a 3 month ban from all football. Frank didnt seem to care at this threat though as he doesn't like Tim.
Tim: Give me your name, else ill report you to the Devon FA and you'll get a 3 month ban.
Ndoli: Yeah right you can't do that.
Tim: (Pointing at referee uniform) I can, i'm an official referee, give me your name or else ill report you.
Ndoli: But how are you supposed to report me if you havent got my name?
This killed Tim.
Tim: What is your name?
Frank James Bruno : My name is James Bruno.
Tim: Frank James Bruno
Frank James Bruno: Yeah you joker.
But Frank was not finished there and continued his abuse towards him until he left the reception in a rage to cool down outside. When Tim asked his teammates what his name was they wouldn't tell him as they didn't want to stitch him up.
Even after cooling down outside for a few minutes Bruno wanted to wait outside for Tim so he could punch him, but he was persuaded to jog on.
After tonights events, Cronies disciplinary record after 3 games in the new sunday league reads like this, 3 yellows and 3 reds. Ndoli has picked up 2 yellows and a red, Martin has received a yellow and Rouse and Roast have received a red card each. This is some achievement as they now have more cards than points.
Team: Webb, West (Rouse), Martin, Ndoli
Newtown: 2 Yellows
Cronies: 1 Yellow, 1 Red |

Terrorising Tyrer Torments Terrorists
|
In Cronies final saturday night at Clifton Hill appearance they played tough outfit Zaeem instead of the scheduled fixture against Lightning McQueen. Zaeem stole into a 2-nil lead after Cronies let their concentration slip at the back. They managed to peg it back to 2-1 at the break courtesy of a Mark Flay penalty. Cronies gaffer Matt Webb replaced youngster Jacob O'Callaghan for livewire striker Stewart Tyrer at the break to give the team more attacking impetus. It paid divedends with Cronies rippng a tired looking team to shreds with their quick thinking and forward play. In the end Cronies killed the match off winning 8-4. Stewart Tyrer was booked for over zealous goal celebrating(shouting yes in a funny voice) and fouling one of their players in a professional foul. This is not the first time Tyrer has been in controversy after he received a lifetime ban the previous he played against Zaeem for apparent racism. This was later rescinded on appeal.

Buns In The Oven For Baker

Cronies have handed a trial to 16 year old Matt Baker. He was recently scouted whilst playing in the Kick It Out Tournament for Franks Barmy Army. He is due to be a substitute for Cronies against Clifton Hill Saturday League new boys Alex Spencer. He played in goal for FBA but is lined up to play outfield for CFC. |

Injury Agony For Youngter
|
Cronies starlet Harry Rogers faces a lengthy 5 weeks on the touchline after breaking his wrist playing for his school team on Thursday. In St Lukes 3-1 reverse to West Exe he slipped and snapped his wrist in half with his hand only just hanging on by a thread. After a tense 12 hour operation surgeons managed to reattach the hand completely and save his whole arm. It was only after the operation that the full extent of the damage was known, Fabrice Fernandes, the club doctor, told of Roger's story.
" It was probably the worst injury i have ever seen in my life! If it wasn't for the quick thinking of the paramedics at the scene he could have lost all of the right hand side of his body."
Long suffering fans will wonder when Cronies Academy injury crisis will end with Ryan Clarke also breaking his leg badly. |

Cronies battled hard and dug deep to claim all 2 points in their vital derby clash. It was a gritty affair in the opening stages with neither team managing to get any clear cut chances with most of the football being scrapped for in the centre of the park. Cronies handed a second start to Gavin Weeks in goal with usual custodian Matt Webb taking his place in the heart of defence with Josh Dizzle Denning. When Cronies did manage to fashion a goal bound attempt in the form of Tom Burridge's low drive the Coastal keeper was equal to it and pulled off a neat save.
The second half saw Webb reclaim his place in goal so Weeks could assist the lone striker Frank Ndoli but this tactical move was soon switched again when midfield lynchpin Michael Benyon injured his knee and was forced to play the remainder of the match in goal. This shake-up seemed to stir Cronies into life with some total football being played at times. They finally mustered their breakthrough midway through the second period, Webb seizing possession after a Coastal defender tripped on the ball before cutting a fine ball inside to the onrushing Ndoli who notched emphatically with the talismanic striker making it 11 for the campaign.
From this point on the match descended into a scrappy affair with Cronies defending heroically at times to prevent Coastal from drawing level. Cronies could have put the tie to bed but Gav Weeks fluffed his lines with the goal at his mercy after Frank Ndolis shot rebounded off the keeper. Cronies managed to hold out for the win and regain their 4 point advantage at the top of the table after True Story toppled Exeter Allstars to leapfrog them into 2nd position. |

Michael Benyon is now back from a career threatening broken spine, Cronies FC club physio Alessandro Diego told the press today. He had already ruptured it but aggravated the injury once again whilst playing on heroically in Cronies 1-0 win over True Story. He was due to take a month out on the sidelines but has returned to playing last night with a cameo appearance in Young Guns 2-0 reverse in the Premiership and was also a unused sub in Cronies 4-0 mauling of basement battlers Team Jason.
Benyon told the press last night, "I'm fine", but Cronies players and fans alike will be hoping he can stay fit for the remainder of the season as Cronies charge for honours. |

The 3-0 scoreline doesn't show the true story of the match and rather flatters the league leaders. With midfield rock Michael Benyon absent through injury Cronies struggled to get to grips with their Arab opponents who had the majority of the spoils in the opening exchanges.
Infact it even took a fortuitous goal from talismanic forward Frank Ndoli to put them ahead. The stand-in Arabian keeper unlucky spilt the ball over his own goal line. This seemed to be the turning point in the game with Cronies starting to improve their passing game. Ex-Crone Yaqdhan Albusaidi almost restored parity when he shot was saved by the toes of Cronies No1 Matt Webb.
In the second period Cronies were only marginally better although Frank Ndoli did manage to add another 2 goals to claim his second hat-trick of the season. Some good defending from Cronies and a late save from Webb meant they sealed another 2 points.

There are rumours going round that Cronies Star Mark Flay, currently on a wednesday night loan at Young Guns, wants a return to Cronies on a full-time basis, and wants his loan at Young guns terminated after their recent poor displays, he is reportedly downhearted at being stuck in goal, although Young Guns manager Nick Watts fully knows of his desire to play outfield and help Youngs Guns end their goalscoring drought. Mark will apparently sit down and discuss his future with Matt Webb before informing Nick Watts where his future lies, losing Flay might just be the final nail in Young Guns Soccer Sixes Premier Division coffin, and he fully knows he could only be sub most nights for Cronies, but the details will ironed out, and Flay looks seemingly ready to return to the Cronies fold.

Cronies suffered last gasp agony in their first ever meeting with Arabic outfit Zaeem Rovers. Cronies were immediately on the back foot when a Zaeem player ran through unchallenged and slotted home bottom corner.
Cronies pegged it back though and turned it around when Billy Rouse equalised with a well taken goal. Comeback kid Mark 'Wolnaldo' Flay put the All-Blacks ahead against a team who have cheekily gone and got the same kit as Cronies.
Things soon took a downward spiral for Cronies as youngster Martin Tyrer was spotted kicking out at a Zaeem player in an off the ball incident. The referee had no qualms in giving him his marching orders with a straight red card. Cronies were immediately on the back foot and former Cronie Yaqdhan Albusaidi equalised and then put Zaeem ahead either side of half time in this topsy turvy affair. Stewart Tyrer replaced Flay for the second half and made an immediate inpact scoring with a thunderbolt. Zaeem almost predictably put themselves back in front after scoring a fortuitous deflected effort. But Cronies were not happy about this and immediately Tyrer restored parity between the two sides with another smart finish. Unfortunately there was still enough time for Zaeem to nab another goal and this time it was to prove fatal. A Zaeem attacker had a snapshot which seemed innocuous enough but goalkeeper Matt Webb was wrong footed and made a hash off a simple ball, by a deflection off defensive rock Danny Rouse with the ball agonisingly trickling over the line to give The Arabs all 3 points.
Things got even worse for Cronies as Stewart Tyrer was given a lifelong Clifton Hill ban by Tim the referee. More details of that to follow.

A cheeky little upstart snubbed the advances of captain Billy Rouse when he was approached to play for Cronies as they were a player short.
He simply snarled, "No" at the club stalwart, 16.
Ex-Central goalkeeper Matt Phillips was also asked to become their sixth man but was unable to fill the void.
The little kid has now rumoured to have joined Cronies rivals Ship FC. |

It was a dark, windy and rainswept wednesday evening at St James School, the type of conditions which footballers dread, but the kind of match that they love.
This could well prove to be the defining moment in the race for the title. Win and you've opened up an advantage over your rivals, lose and they are sniffing your asses.
A hopeful shot from Frank Ndoli may just have pissed on True Story's title chances and could be a chance for Cronies to push on this season.
It all looked gloomy at the start, with overcast weather and with only 5 players at the start Cronies backs were up against the wall. The first half was all about consolidation, making sure they were still in contention come the interval. Infact it was the opposite with Cronies forcing True Story back into their own half, unable to fully utilise their 1 man advantage. Niall Martin had the best chance of the half almost nudging the league leaders ahead.
With Frank Ndoli returning from his suspension at half-time Cronies were finally able to go all guns blazing in an attempt to blitz 'Story who had only lost their unbeaten record the previous week. Cronies showed their class and team play, solid at the back and attacking with flair and precision. It was a great passing move which led to Ndoli's screamer, the whole team combining well before Ndoli somehow squeezed in his strike. From then on it was all about staying firm at the back. And, for the most part of it, Cronies did, defending stoutly and disciplined. On a couple of occasions though keeper Matt Webb was finally called to prove he's worth his 7 game clean sheet streak, once he bravely confronted the feet of a True Story attacker and on the second occasion he foiled a Jamie Smith attempt with a fine left handed save. Ironically it was infact Smith who was the last player to score against him and came the closest to spoiling the record. Cronies managed to see it home and claim all 2 points.

True Story Pre-Match Interview With Mat t Webb
|
Cronies FC manager Matt Webb has kindly accepted the invitiation to have a pre match interview ahead of what could be, the title decider, versus True Story FC.
This game will be featured on Setanta Sports 6-a-side highlight show, starting at 10PM, Setanta Sports 1
Tough game tonight aginst tough opposition, you looking forward to tonights game?
Matt Webb : Of course its a big match and thats what every player and manager wants to be involved in...a chance to test yourself on the big stage.
But Frank Ndoli got a hat-trick last game, and he could be missing tonight, is he a big miss?
M.W: Well hes the kind of impact player that could make the difference in a title match like we're expecting tonight but we have won games without him so im confident with my squad, regardless of whos playing.
But goalscoring options have been cut down severly, do you think you have one player who could replace Frank Ndoli, or will it have to be a team effort?
M.W: Well if you look at the stats we've had 8 different goalscorers this campaign, although no-ones been prolific we've got players who can step up to the plate nad score if needed.
Is it a secret, or can you reveal the starting 6 to us exclusively at Cronies FC?
M.W: Well if Franks appeal is successful then it will be the same team as last week but if not then Tom Burridge will replace him.
Burridge is more defensive and less prolific, do you have the confidence in him to step up and replace Frank?
M.W: Well its not a like for like replacement, we'll switch the formation, its what i like about our squad, its versatile.
Have you ever thought about calling up Ryan Smales to the wednesday night squad and going outfield yourself?
M.W: Well Ryan Smales in unavailable on wednesday due to Heavitree training so that was never really an option i could have considered.
Ok Matt, one final question, fans have been wondering, Mark Flay is currently on loan at Young Guns, will he ever make a comeback for Cronies?
M.W: Yes..he is a Cronies player and thats the way its going to stay for the foreseeable future.
Thanks for your time matt and good luck.
M.W: No..thank you for your time and cheers we'll try and do the club proud. |

Cronies FC 8-2 Lightning McQueen
|
Cronies got back to Clifton form with this dynamic display which blew away the experience Lightning McQueen in the teams first ever meeting.
Martin Tyrer put away two early chances to put The Red Bulls in front before The McQueens pulled a goal back. Billy Rouse scored with a most spiffing effort and Tyrer made it 4 with his third before yet again McQueen pulled one back. Cronies pulled away in the second timeframe and showed their class with some neat interlinking play. Tyrer and Rouse netted another goal apiece before Danny Rouse got in on the act with a beatifully worked goal and Liam Roast scored a well deserved goal after some gritty perserverence put him through on goal.

In form outfit Cronies FC handed new boys Coastal FC a right royal pasting in this top versus almost bottom clash. With Burridge and Holmes unavailable for action Cronies handed a first start of the season to Ghanaian import Frank Ndoli and former hero Niall Martin. It was infact Martin who opened the evenings scoring with a fierce drive which swerved and dipped satisfyingly into the bulging net. This set the 'All-Blacks' into motion with them playing some attractive, free-flowing football. Josh Denning could have scored after breaking free of his marker with an extraordinary touch although he then blazed over. Frank Ndoli made life hell for the Coastal rear guard with his mazy runs and tricky feet and scored twice in the first half to give Cronies a 3-0 interval advantage.
Cronies pushed on after the break and kept pushing for more goals but were almost caught out on the counter with an opposition striker smashing the post. However it was to be Cronies night with Martin completing his brace and Ndoli notching his hat-trick although it could have been many more. Michael Benyon completed the rout before Denning missed a golden opportunity to get a well deserved second of the season from the penalty spot after the goalkeeper handled outside his area. Alas, it was not to be for the Argentian/Italian/Spanish/Turkish player as his penalty was high, wide and not at all handsome and almost went over the fence of the Astroturf.

Cronies FC 5-0 Wesupply FC
|
CFC rounded off the pitch invasion season with a thoroughly convincing hammering of perennial whipping boys and basement outfit Wesupply in what could prove to Cronies final Pitch Invasion appearance.
The All Blacks/Reds started off the game at a quick pace looking to exploit the visitors defensive frailties with some rapid attacking. They opened scoring after beanpole lankster Billy Rouse met Josh Dennings pinpoint header at the back post. Soon after they doubled it with dangerman Matt Webb finishing with a powerful strike after some good work down the left. Cronies passing play was disrupted with a string of subsitutions and went in to the break leading 2 goals to the good.
The second period started brightly with Denning forcing an own goal with his shot, although the 'Dodgy Goals Commitee Panel' later awarded him the dubious goal. Denning then struck again with a sweet strike before Tom Hooper rounded things off with some good 1-2 football with Rouse. In fairness it could have been alot more if it wasn't for some wasteful shooting. Dan Regan had some glorious chances on his Cronies swansong but was unable to apply the killer touch.

Cronies 1-2 Psycho Strikers
|
Cronies lost to early pace setters and title favourites Psycho Strikers in a match they surely should have won. Cronies team was weakened with several first team regulars absent with Junior Rouse and Junior Tyrer unable to play. Cronies thought their luck was in as Psycho were only able to field four players and The Villagers took an early lead through ........... However things would soon take a turn for the worse with CFC getting caught out at the back allowing The Maniacs to score two breakaway goals against the run of play. Despite the majority of the possession Cronies were unable to find the cutting edge they needed and with the 4 men defending stoutly they just couldn't break through. This was a golden opportunity for Cronies to put some real pressure on the league leaders but blew it with this performance.

Cronie moved to the summit of Division Two after this battling performance against third place Ship FC. In a must win game for Cronies they worked hard in what was a tough match. Neither team could find a breakthrough in an edgy first half with neither side really wanting to commit to many players forward in a risk of getting caught on the counter.
The All Blacks finally made use of their possession with Josh Denning teeing up subsitute Frank Ndoli to put The Villagers ahead. Ship FC appealed as goalkeeper Matt Webb had rolled the ball to Rouse to start the attack whilst outside the area to the back. Their appeals fell on deaf ears however as the goal stood. Cronies asserted their dominance from this point till the final whistle and even managed to nab a second goal, this time Ndoli repaid the favour and squared the ball to Denning who fired home to wrap up all 2 points.
Webb, B.Rouse, Burridge, Denning, Benyon, Holmes (Ndoli). |

Cronies FC 2-0 Haldon Landscapes
|
Cronies blitzed helpless Haldon Landscapes with a dominant performance from start to finish to get their season back to winning ways. Cronies used the experimental 8 man rotational system and it paid dividents with a baffled Haldon Landscapes unable to contain Cronies youth and enthusiasm. Player/ Boss Matt Webb put Cronies ahead with a confident finish after a great run and a one-two with Aaron Beacroft. He almost doubled the lead with an exquisit lob over the stranded Haldon goaltender but to Webb's despair it hit the outside of the upright. Despite their possession Cronies couldn't finish off their moves, coming close several times until Tom Burridge notched deep into the second half with a good finish.

Cronies FC 3-2 Red Express
|
It was a tight match at the Clifton Hill Arena but Cronies managed to edge it thanks to some good team work and the inspirational finishing of Martin Tyrer. Cronies were made to work hard for the points in this encounter and maybe slighly under estimated their opponents early on as they had demolished them 9-1 only the previous month.
There was to be no such scoreline tonight with Express giving Cronies a scare by taking an early lead. Tyrer scored a rapid 2 goal response to put the pressure back on their opponents and completed his hat-trick and get the match ball in the second half to make sure of the points. Once again Red Express worried The Crooners by pulling a goal back late on but it was to be to no avail as Cronies saw out time to take home the win.

Cronies kept up thier promotion push with a well earned 2-0 victory over languishing Yeomans FC.
Cronies were given an early reprieve as Yeomans thought they had scored, but the striker was adjudged to have breached the area. The rest of the first half was played out with neither side creating any clear cut chances. The second half saw Cronies seize the initiative and play some attractive, free-flowing football. The took the lead with a real contender for goal of the season. Sam Holmes lofted a cross-field ball to Stu Tancock who was arriving at the back post. He sweetly struck the ball with the outside of his right foot whilst in mid-air and sent the ball first class past the stricken keeper. Cronies fans held their breath as Michael Benyon was sin-binned for apparently tripping an opponent. The All Blacks weathered the storm however and once he was back on the pitch they scored a decisive second which was a great team goal. After some good work from Webb, Burridge and Tancock in defence, Benyon zapped a ball to Josh Denning who cooly took the ball down and slotted it to Holmes who blasted the in his third of the campaign. Cronies had further chances to add to their tally but Yeomans held firm.

Cronies FC 1-2 Mix Click FC
|
Cronies could count themselves desperately unlucky not to take all 3 points away from this clash with old foes Mix Click. Click took an undeserved lead after some misunderstandings in the Cronies defence and somehow doubled their lead with a tame shot which should never had gone in. Cronies pushed all match but struggled to get the goals they craved. Debutant Aaron Beacroft scored The Villagers only goal with a well struck shot. Cronies continued to pepper shots at the Mix Click goal but luck wasn't shining on them with goal-line clearances and the woodwork denying them deserved goals.

Cronies FC 1-0 Exeter Allstars
|
Cronies fought hard and dug deep to get a 1-0 win over promotion chasing Exeter Allstars. In a close knit game the only thing denying Cronies from storming ahead was the inspirational goalkeeping from the Allstars custodian. Cronies introduced Ghanaian superstar Frank Ndoli at half time to try and conjure up a goal but he just couldnt find the killer touch on his return to the club.It looked for a while that Cronies luck was out until Michael Benyon placed the ball out of the keepers reach and into the bottom corner.

Cronies FC 6-4 The Veterans
|
Cronies started the season witha thrilling win over newcomers The Veterans.
The match started slowly with neither team being able to make any chances. The Veterans then took the lead with a stunning goal from their frontman. Things got from bad to worse as The Vets got a second after some sloppy play. To add to Cronies woes youngster Martin Tyrer picked up a yellow card for what can only be seen as foul and abusive languge. Before the break Cronies got back into the game, with Martin Tyrer scoring to great goals showing that he cant just hit them for distance, he can walk them into the net aswel.
In the second half Cronies started the brighter of the two sides but fell behind once again after another good goal from the Vets. Late call in Liam Roast got cronies back on level terms with a wonderful goal beating 3 players before passing the ball into the net. Billy Rouse then put Cronies ahead with a very good finish from just inside the opposition half. Martin Tyrer completed a hat-trick before The Vets got a late lifeline. Cronies then sealed the win with an absolute screamer from ironically the veteran Danny Rouse, he controlled the ball on the knee and smashed it home from the half way life.

Cronies pulled off a shock win over 3rd place Premiership outfit WSP Isca in a friendly. Cronies outclassed their higher league opposition with slick passing and should have scored more than a solitary Michael Benyon strike deep into the second- half. George Robinson missed several one on ones late on as Cronies cut open WSP. On the few occasions WSP mustered an attack keeper Matt Webb was equal to it. Cronies survived a late scare when Sam Holmes passed the ball back to his own area unawares that Webb was missing from the goal as he was retrieving a ball from the other pitch. Blushes were spared however as the ball trickled just past the post.

Cronies comprehensively beat Division 2 strugglers Team Jason in their 5th league outing of the season. Sam Holmes gave The Villagers the lead late in the first half with George Robinson adding a second later on. It should have been many more but Cronies wasted a lot of good opportunities when it seemed easier to score than to miss. Josh Denning was sin binned for un-sportsmanlike behaviour with only seconds remaining.

With Taylor Wimpey failing to turn up for a second successive season Cronies played a friendly against Premiership side Destruction. Cronies were taught a footballing lesson by The Students and were torn apart by some clinical passing and powerful shooting on a fast surface.
Cronies put up a fight but just couldn't contain the pace of their opposition. Josh Denning scored 2 good second-half goals and Matt Webb was denied by both the posts after a great cross from Dan Regan.

Cronies FC 3-9 Pyscho Strikers
|
The season ended badly for Cronies with a very dissapointing defeat at the hands of Champions Pyscho Strikers.
Pyscho took the lead before a quick reply from Martin Tyrer levelled the scoring. Cronies were then dealt a huge blow when Player/Manager Matt Webb suffered a dead leg forcing him out of the game to be replaced by Mark Flay. Pyscho showed why they are champions with some great football to make it 2-1. Poor marking gifted Pyscho another 3 goals which put the game beyond doubt. M.Tyrer added his second with an outsanding strike to make 5-2. Psycho scored 2 more before Tyrer completed his hat-trick with a cool finish. Before the final whistle pyscho added another 2, to make it 9-3.
With that defeat Cronies had a dissapointing season finished in 5th and will hope to make up for it in the new season. Cronies face The Vetarans in the first game of the new season this saturday.

Despite Cronies not buying any more players they have still been busy fending off the advances of other clubs for their top players. Josh Denning has turned down moves to VfB Stuttgart, Lyon, Torino and ambitious Russians Zenit St Petersburg. The 17 year-old spoke to the press earlier saying, "I would turn down a whole string of clubs because i am loving life playing for The Villagers."
Promising youngster Harry Rogers has gone on a short-term loan to Serie A side Sampdoria to gain first team experience. He had rejected a move to Championship languishers Cardiff City. The move is not just about football, it will help him with his GCSE's by following his mentor Denning by learning the language.
Kilnarnock have had their approach for Ryan Smales and Martin Tyrer rebuffed. It is reported that they offered £5m for both plus Moroccon midfielder Mehdi Taouil or midfielder Danny Invincible. |

Cronies returned to winning ways with a well earned victory over EC Dons last night. Cronies started well and were all over their opposition like a bad rash. They unfortunately couldn't find a break through with Michael Benyon and Sam Holmes unable to find the back of the net. Josh Denning and George Robinson were introduced at the break as Cronies looked for the cutting edge. Tom Burridge managed to get the goal they craved after good work from Denning, Knight and Tancock. Cronies soaked up pressure from the Dons frontline and held out for their third win of the season.
Webb, Tancock, J.Knight, Burridge, Benyon (Denning), Holmes (Robinson).
Man of the Match: Josh Denning
" Firstly i'd like to congratulate the lads for a spiffing performance today and a good result. This season is going to be full of scrappy games won by the odd goal and we showed good tenacity last night. Also i would like to thank assistant manager Mark Flay for his help tonight. It's nice to have someone to help with decisions when you're out on the pitch. I've come under fire recently for choosing some of the players i have done and i would just like to defend my selections. Recently we've had problems getting a squad together so at the moment im just looking for a bit of consistency in the wednesday team. I would also like to add that some of these players were going to be in this team before Cronies took over so it would be unfair to turn them away. I would like to know who these unworthy players are as no-one in the squad is giving Cronies a bad name at the moment. I'm sorry if ive upset some of the senior members of the squad with my selections but its hard to keep everyone happy when you've got 3 teams to pick. At the moment im trying to cut the numbers of players we have in the wednesday team to get a squad of people playing week-in week out. Some of the people playing at the moment may only be temporary so everyone has a chance." |

Hooper rules himself out of Wednesday night league
|
16:41 30/1/08
Club Co-Chairman Thomas Peter Hooper has today ruled himself out of the wednesday league team ahead of tonights game. He seems dissapointed with manager Matt Webb after he is bringing in alot of new faces, some who don't warrant a place in the side.
He had this to say "Well im dissapointed with Matt after he is throwing out debuts to players who nobodies even heard of! He seems to be losing Cronies loyal names with all these new faces, who quite honestly don't deserve to be in the squad!"
Cronies wednesday nights will also be without other Co-Chairman Billy Rouse for next 3 weeks, as he has work commitments and a coaching course.
Cronies lie in 5th place aheads of tonights fixture against E.C Dons. |

Cronies fans will be delighted this evening after hearing that assistant manager Mark Flay turned down an approach from League 1 promotion candidates Leeds United. Ken Bates approached Flay after Gary McAllister agreed to be the manager, but Flay turned him down on the spot, Leeds are now looking at different personnel including Young Guns manager Nick Watts, who is an outside contender, Steve McClaren, the favourite and Gianluca Vialli, although it seems McClaren is the 2nd choice behind Flay.
''Basically Ken Bates approaced me to ask if i was interested in becoming assistant manager to Gary McAllister and possibly taking over from the scotsman when he left, but i turned him down, because i believe Cronies are going places, and i know Leeds are promotion contenders, but so are Cronies, and im not gonna leave my childhood team, even if i was offered triple pay, money is not an object when you enjoy your job, and i can safely say, i have a great job!''
Flay, who has previous coaching experience from his time as Goalkeeping Coach at Heavitree Dynamoes, is also said to be happy that his former Protégé, Ryan Smales, is now getting his chance to prove his worth in goal for Cronies, with two outstanding performances to date. |

Cronies were left reeling yesterday after suffering a setback at the hands of championship contenders Toddies Boys. Cronies started well but Toddies Boys struck early on to put the villagers on the back foot. Tom Hooper equalised soon after after some great team play. Toddies Boys showed their class with another goal but once again they were pegged back with the mercurial Pete Hensor nabbing a goal in his third successive game since joining the club. Things were going swimmingly for The Villagers until the dismissal of player/boss Matt Webb. Cronies were undone by some neat interplay and Webb took up a position on the line, he was adjudged to have blocked a shot with his arm intentionally and was given a controversial straight red even though they scored the rebound. Toddies Boys scored from the resulting penalty which gave them an almost unasssilable advantage. 4-man Cronies and even Toddies Boys were stunned by the decision and things almost got worse for them when Ryan Smales handled outside his area. Toddies Boys put the game beyond the reach of the battling Cronies with a decisive fourh goal. Josh Denning almost gave them a lifeline when he turned exquisitely twice but failed to score after some great goalkeeping.
"This is the first time that this ref has made some dodgy decisions and today he's left us and our opponents baffled. We come down here every week and hand over our hard earned cash for a decent game of football, these referees are getting paid to do a job and at the moment, some referees in particular are spoiling it. I don't like slaging off referees but i have no choice when they are making blatantly crap decisions, i just can't take it anymore. Im happy with the way my team played tonight, they did the good name of Cronies proud and kept battling right to the death, i think Toddies Boys were the better team and maybe deserved the win but not in those circumstances. If i hadn't of been sent-off then who knows? We could have done it. We've just got to be positive now and flush this bad result out of the system, look forward and try and get ourselves back on track, we've got a quality team and hopefully we can go on and do well this season."
Manager Matt Webb's outspoken remarks could land him in even more trouble with the FA as this is not the first time during his reign Cronies have been in hot water.

Cronies romped to victory over a lacklustre Red Express side on Saturday night. Red Express were still shellshocked after the departure of their star goalie and couldn't contain Cronies freeflowing football. Matt Webb set the ball rolling with 2 goals early on with Martin Tyrer making it 3 after Red Express had pulled one back. Cronies kept pushing and after the break with Billy Rouse scoring a quick-fire brace with some fine finishing. Tyrer grabbed a second before player/manager Webb notched his first ever competitive Cronies hat-trick. Tyrer rounded off the victory with 2 more goals after great defending from Ryan Smales and Danny Rouse.
Matt Webb spoke to the News of the World after the match, "I'm ecstatic with the way the lads played today. They went onto the park on a mission and played some cracking footie. Everything was spot-on, the effort was there right up to the final whistle even when we were 9-1 up, hopefully we can keep that going!"

Boss Matt Webb has told the press that his shopping spree is now over at todays press conferencee.
"Ive been very fortunate this transfer window and ive been able to bring in alot of quality players, but now im happy to work with the current squad. We have alot of talented players and it would be unfair to make any more signings. I will re-assess the situation in the summer when the transfer window re-opens."
The recently appointed manager has signed Josh Hannaford, Pete Hensor, Matt Uren, James Knight, Ben Knight, Sam Holmes, Stu Tancock, James MacMartin and Ryan Smales already this January. |

Cronies promotion push was dented last night with a 1 nil reverse against fellow glory chasers True Story. Cronies were immediately on the back foot and had to start with only 5 players until the 3rd minute when the 6th arrived. They were also short due to the non-arrival of Michael Benyon. Cronies struggled to get to grips with their opposition in the 1st half and they gifted them a goal when Stu Tancock inadvertantly passed the ball to True Story's Jamie Smith who slotted home from close range. Ben Knight was handed his Cronies debut at half time as the team set about reversing the deposit. Despite good work from Josh Denning, Tom Burridge and Sam Holmes, Cronies couldn't find the killer touch they desired. They were almost caught out on the counter a couple of times with Matt Webb preventing them from falling further behind. It wasn't to be though and Cronies lost their 100% record.
Player/Manager Matt Webb remarked after the game, "I think this is the wake-up call we need. Hopefully this can kick-start are season. It was always going to be tough tonight and in the end we just lacked a potent finisher and some defensive organisation. I am looking forward to next weeks match where hopefully we will be back to our best."

New Academy Boss Makes First Buy
|
22nd January 2008
Today, Academy manager Billy Rouse purchased his first player since taken up the role 2 weeks ago. Youngster Liam Rouse has put pen to paper on a lucrative 4 year deal. Rouse Jnr will wear the number 2 shirt for the academy as he looks set for his debut in the coming weeks against the reserves in a friendly.
Liam, who has turned 11 today, had this to say "Im absolutely delighted to sign for the club of my dreams! Its a great club and over the moon to have a chance to play. Billy has already made me feel welcome and has shown me around the facilities, i just cant wait to make my debut!"
Liams deal will expire in 2012 where he should step up to first team duties.

Matt Uren-ates on Romans Title Hopes
|
Cronies stole the show in the first outing of the new season with an impressive win over relegated outfit Roman All Over The Pitch. Boss Matt Webb handed debuts to 2 more players tonight, Ryan Smales who rejoined after previously leaving the club and 17 year-old Matt Uren is a colleague of Billy Rouse. The All-Blacks dominated from the off with some slick passing football which left the crowd purring and wanting more. Fine finishing from Matt Uren (2) and Pete Hensor put them into a convincing half-time lead. They took their foot off the pedal slightly in the second period but could have scored more if it wasnt for some good goalkeeping and some unlucky finishing. Disaster struck however as defensive rock Matt Webb was sin-binned after a couple of late challenges. Cronies really lacked his presence and conceded despite the best efforts of Smales. Pete Hensor made sure of the win with a comprehensive strike before Roman grabbed a consolation goal.

Cronies FC have denied making any bid for Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell, although the papers stated differently. Matt Webb said "I have not made a bid for Sol Campbell the papers were simply chasing a story to fill the tabloids".
Tom Hooper bid declined. West Brom today offered a resounding 4.1 Million pounds for Tom Hooper on a two year contract, Cronies have declined this bid and the chairman had this to say in a press conference. "Tom Hooper is a valuable player who we can't afford to lose at this time", exciting times ahead.

James MacMartin scored the only goal in what proved to be a dour affair at Clifton Hill. Both teams were down to their bare bones, Cronies being forced to hand prospect MacMartin, 15, a debut. The Faces only boasted 4 players and Cronies struggled to take advantage of that in the first half not even being the better team. The second half was only marginally better, as Cronies actually scored a goal. MacMartin ramraiding a screamer of a shot out of the keeper's reach. That was as good as it got, Billy Rouse suffered a knee injury and was forced to play the final third in goal. Cronies shut out the game playing football with little imagination, only with the 3 points in mind. Matt Webb put in a series of good challenges and Rouse made a great save to prevent any comeback. Webb got booked for 2 rash challenges, with certain members of the opposition and crowd feeling it should have been more. Young Martin Tyrer also received a yellow for a supposed foul and then kicking the ball away in disgust. The result was met with boos from The Faces crowd as Cronies managed a crucial result over their rivals.
Manager Matt Webb had this to say, " It was a terrible match to play in and it must have been worse to watch, i don't like my team playing footy like that but sometimes in football results are more important than popularity. The young lad MacMartin did well today though as this match was a potential banana-skin and his finish was first rate"

Cronies continued their good start to the season with a convincing victory over Red Army. Chances were few and far between in a cagey first half with both defences keeping it as tight as a badgers anus. The Blacks looked for more creative flair in the second period bringing on Mark Flay and Liam Roast for impressive debutant James Knight and Josh Denning. Sam Holmes put the youngsters ahead with a powerful drive and celebrated in style with a kiss from Billy Rouse. Rouse doubled their advantage with a penalty after a Red Army defender encroached the area. Cronies played out the rest of the game relatively untroubled until a great strike from a Red Army attacker pulled a goal back for a nervy finish.
After this result Cronies go top as the only team with a 100% record.

New Academy boss Billy Rouse, 16, has expressed his delight for two of his Academy stars. Martin Tyrer and Harry Rogers are both set for six week trials at Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City respectively.
"Im absolutely delighted for the youngsters! They have both been in suberb form all season, espicially when they have stepped up to the first team. Its suberb for them but i want to ask is - what took you so long? These players are a great asset to our club, or any club for that matter so i just cant believe its taken the 'big teams' so long to come in for them. All i can say now is good luck to the lads." |

New manager Matt Webb has been a busy beaver so far during the transfer window looking for new faces. He last night tied up a deal for Pete Hensor who made a trialist appearance in yesterday's win. He has put pen to paper on a 1 year deal to play in the Monday Night league.
The club is believed to be close to securing deals for a sportsworld trio. Sam Holmes, Simon Holmes and Stu Tancock could all feature in tomorrow's Soccer Sixes match versus Red Army.
Sam Toghill is currently in negotiations with Team Bath over a possible loan move for the youth keeper. He has already turned down offers from Leigh RMI, AFC Telford and Ryman League South team Leatherhead. The club also turned down a cash offer, believed to be around £2,500, for the 14 year-old, from Southern League team Mangotsfield United. The youngster has yet to break into the first team and new academy boss Billy Rouse wants him to get some first team experience.
Dan Regan has rebuffed an approach from Serie B strugglers Frosinone. He has vowed to stay and fight for his place at Cronies even though he is out of contract at the end of the next Pitch Invasion season. He was told at the start of the transfer window that he could leave the club but he wanted to stay for another season at least. |

Chairmen Billy Rouse and Tom Hooper have decided to give the managers position to Matt Webb full time. This comes on the back of some good performances from the Cronies. His only defeat came at the hands of champions Muts Nuts although that game was awarded to Cronies so technically he has a 100% record with the other matches being a 1-0 win over Northern Hay, a 6-5 triumph over Inter Behindhaven and lasts night victory against Haldon Landscapes.
He had this to say at today's press conference,
" I am proud and honoured to be able to say that i am first team manager of Cronies FC. I hope to take the club to great success."
It has also been announced that Mark Flay will be his assistant with Billy Rouse taking over Webb's former role as Academy boss and club captain. |

Cronies FC 7-3 Haldon Landscapes
|
Cronies rounded off the season in style with a convincing rout of Haldon Landscapes in a rowdy match. Mark Flay opened the scoring after pouncing on a loose ball after confusion struck between the keeper and the defence. Haldon came back into the fray however as persistence down the left flank opened up the Cronies defence to equalise past the helpless Rouse. They then took the lead after debutant Pete Hensor was bundled out of the way and the Haldon attacker slotted home. Despite the protests of the Cronies players the goal stood. Martin Tyrer equalised with a clever finish and almost put them in front witha speculative effort from the half way line. Haldon put themselves in front for the second time in controversial fashion, Cronies players started to walk off the pitch as they thought the referee had blown for half time however it was the ref from the adjacent pitches' whistle, the Haldon players played on however and scored with the ball slipping through Rouse's hands. Several Cronies players were reprimanded and had to be dragged away from the ref in protest. Cronies bucked up their ideas in the second half with Rouse making some key blocks and Josh Denning putting his life on the line with some awesome defending. Tom Hooper grabbed a second half brace and Pete Hensor got a debut hat-trick as Cronies romped home in spectacular fashion. It could of been more if certain Cronies players had been more unselfish instead of going for personal gain.
Cronies will wait and see if the incident at half-time will land them in hot water with the FA. Although they may sue Haldon after they were quoted before the match as calling Cronies 'gay', which violates several FA laws on homophobism.
Cronies final league position is third now as they have been awarded a 3-0 win against Muts Nuts as they did not pay their match fee.

Haldon Landscapes Preview
|
Cronies go into the final match of the season against Haldon looking to finish off a poor season with a win. Hopes will be high after last weeks performance against league winners Muts Nuts.
Player/ Caretaker boss Matt Webb has ruled himself out of the match will a bruised hip with Dan Regan expected to replace him. Pete Hensor could make his club debut and Josh Hannaford is due to play again with the rest of the team the same as last week. Billy Rouse is filling in between the sticks. |

Dutch international Klaas- Jan Huntelaar has rebuffed manager Matt Webb's attempts to sign him. At a recent press conference the forward had this to say, " No! "
Cronies are believed to have joined the chase for Exeter hitman Jamie Mackie. The forward, 22, wants to stay in the area and a move to Cronies would suit him best according to a source close to the player.
The clubs hunt for a second choice keeper has been unfruitful so far, ex- Manchester and West Ham star Raimond van der Gouw has rejected a chance to be player-coach for the All Blacks. Another former Red Devils stopper Mark Bosnich has snubbed their approach as he wants to play at a higher level. 34-year old Italian Carlo Cudicini is currently mulling over the option of joining the club.
On the managerial front Sam Allardyce has ruled himself out of the bid to become the new boss at the Wonford Club as has Bobby Robson and Steve Maclaren. One time target Jurgen Klinsmann has now moved to Bayern Munich. |
