Alot has been happening at Cronies over the past week or so, this is a recap of some of the shit that has been flying so far.
- 2 NEW KITS- On Tuesday nights, Leisure Leagues have provided us with new shirts for our new team. The shirts are cotton and sport the leisure league motifs and all of them have a number 10 on them, bizarre.. The official colour of our Tuesday team is Irish Green, this was chosen to provide Cronies with some luck of the irish. This new league has also meant a chance to hand debuts to 2 new players, Lee Kelly and Dexter Booth. 22 year-old Kelly has a wealth of 6 aside experience after playing for several teams in the Soccer Sixes league structure. He has represented Real Fetish during their featful Premier Division relegation campaign and has stayed with the club despite being a stand out star performer. He has also played for Coastal FC in the Premier Division on both Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Kelly's preferred role is as the target man up top and it is hoped his clinical finishing and wise all round play can help Cronies to the summit of the table. Dex Booth, also 22, was brought in to add some beeth into the team and give us some defensive grit. Just like Lee he scored on his debut with a fine goal. He also has a bucket load of experience having played for Whipton Wanderers in the Prem Division and has just completed a move to rivals Micawbers.
- The second new kit was given to the club by Soccer 'Prostar Leagues' Sixes who gave the club 8 Prostar Jerseys as reward for winning the league last season. They are predominantly red with white sleeves, it is not yet known where these kits will be worn as Cronies have a Blackburn shirt for Wednesday nights. The shirts were given a run out on the Sunday however, with the team spouting out victoriously 9-3.
- Another new debutant is youngster Vadilson Reis. He stepped in at short notice as Cronies were struggling for players for last wednesdays clash with Whipton Wanderers. Frank Ndoli used his contacts to bring Reis in, Ndoli decribed the player as, " An international player".
- TOPSHAM TOWN TOURNAMENT:- Cronies did well after a sloppy start to this tournament, which was held at Topsham Town's ground. The first game was always going to be a tough encounter against Phil White's Muts Nuts who showed us why we had never previously beaten them with a 5-0 drubbing. Things were to get better in the next game against Barley Rovers, who fielded Cronies players James Clampin and Abdoul aswell as Fred Kingdom and ex Exeter City starlet Matty Bye. Cronies had the better of the play and really should have won if they had taken all their chances and were desperately unlucky to only come away with a point which left them pretty much down and out of the tournament already. This was to be Billy Rouse's final tournament game as he had injured his knee, later tests showed that he had hurt his ligaments and his hamstring and needed crutches. Their final group game came against Exmouth Town who fielded a strong side including an ex- QPR professional. With nothing to lose Cronies played some free flowing and enigmatic football, going ahead after 20 seconds through a solid Niall Martin strike. Not long after Matt Webb struck the crossbar with an absolute ping on his right peg before finding the underside of the bar and in with a superb left footed thunderbolt after being released by Jacob O'Callaghan. Martin Tyrer sealed the win with a good finish late on in the first half. Cronies managed to hold on in the second half despite going down to 4 players for a couple of minutes as Tyrer Jnr. was sinbinned for dissent. This emphatic win meant that Cronies needed table toppes Muts Nuts to beat Exmouth for the Cronies to go through, however they fielded a weaker team and lost 4-2 meaning The Seasiders joined Muts Nuts in the second round, although they lost in their next match to eventual winners Wonford who had a solid team including ex City trainee Ben Harris. Cronies can be proud of a good day at this fine festival of football and can count themselves unlucky not to make it into the final 8. Unfortunately Otterton didnt turn up so each team in the group played 1 less game.

TUESDAY! Apparently its the new night for 5 aside fun!
|
| Cronies have announced that they have officially entered the new Tuesday night Leisure League at St James school. This is thought to be the alternative to the SoccerSixes Wednesday night league which they are believed to be pulling out of in the not too distant future. The new league is also 6 aside but the squad that will play in it is still unknown at the moment. They enter league with immediate effect and start off on the 23rd of June at 8.30 pm vs. Whipton Wanderers, a team in which Cronies legend and Soccer Sixes skipper Frank 'James''Bruno''Yeboah' Ndoli plays for. Cronies take over a team who have already played 3 games this season, picking up one draw and 2 defeats leaving them sixth out of eight. |

|
| Cronies have announced their entrance into the annual Topsham Town 5 a-side Tournament. They initially failed to enter into the tournament that was scheduled to be played last Saturday but was postponed due to adverse weather conditions but will be played in a couple of weeks. |

CRONIES START NEW LEAGUE ** Cronies 6-0 Massive Attack
|
|
|
Cronies 5-2 Cant Shoot Wont Shoot
|
Cronies fought back from a goal down to destroy their counterparts in this festival of free-flowing and exciting football. Cronies started the evening bottom of the table after a torrid start to the season where they have struggled to find enough players to play, however the starting line-up tonight was a much more recognisable one to the one which one the league last season, and identical to the side that faced Coastal the only other time The Villagers have won this season.
It was a slow start however and an early Paul Ruddock goal gave Cant Shoot the lead after Cronies failed to get back and help each other out defensively. Midway through the half Cronies finally started to play some attacking, sexy football and a great Niall Martin strike brought them level. Despite rampaging their opponents goal with shots and attacks Cronies could not find another goal and had to wait until 2 minutes after the interval to finally take the lead, this time Yaqdhan Albusaidi found himself space after a mazy run to put away his 72nd goal in a Cronies shirt. Despite having the lead Cronies continued with their forays into CSWS's half and were rewarded not long after when Niall Martin notched his brace. Things got a bit edgy within 5 minutes as CSWS managed to pull a goal back through Adi Selway, it was unfortunate for the young Croniemen as they had defended valiantly up until that point, with Jacob O'Callaghan and Harry Rogers putting in some fine tackles and Matt Webb in goal pulling off some magnificent saves. Cronies really should have made the game safe with a whole string of opportunities, Webb kept throwing the ball up top to Albusaidi who managed to shrug off the attentions of Andy Channing every time to find himself through on goal and missing several one-on-ones. O'Callaghan made an extraordinary run from his own area to catch up with one of Webb's missile throws after Channing and Albusaidi had tangled and missed the ball, young O'Callaghan had alot of time to compose himself but a solid stop from the keeper thwarted his attempt much to his dismay after a fantastic run. Much to his relief Cronies managed to put the game to bed with time running out, Albusaidi scored after some stylish passing movement and 18 year-old veteran Josh Denning notched his 1st of the season with a well struck and coolly finished goal after he found himself in time and space on the edge of the area after a deflected corner.
5-2 was how it stayed and every single Cronies player should be proud after a fine display and the man of the match award was split between all 6 amigos.
Manager Matt Webb had this to say about the match, "Although it took us a while to get involved and look interested in the match we really took the game to them and showed what damage we can do when we have the ball at our feet. We were unlucky not to score more, but their keeper had a great game and our shooting wasnt as clinical as it should of been. Well done to Josh Denning for scoring, the lad is chuffed to bits and is going to sleep happy tonight, another special mention for O'Callaghan aswell, he missed the match the other week and he is cut to bits inside about it, he went out there tonight and gave everything he got to make up for it, he was a rock in defence and snuffed out a lot of attacks. He should be proud of his performance and that was a great example to the team of what hard work can do for you."
With last season's top goalscorer Frank Ndoli back in contention next week, Webb will have a massive selection headache choosing his team.
TEAM: 1 Webb, 2 O'Callaghan, 3 N.Martin, 8 Denning, 10 Albusaidi, 11 Rogers (c). |

Cronies battled well but found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline having been forced to play the match with only 5 men. It was always going to be an uphill task for The Villagers after the non-arrival of Jacob O'Callaghan, however some slick passing meant they took the lead within the first two minutes, young attacker Harry Rogers applying the finishing touch to a good move. Wonder Boys fought back and used the extra man to put Cronies on the back foot, Ben Baker with a good finish to even things up. Despite the disadvantage Cronies were playing the better football even with the treacherous conditions and it was not long after when Niall Martin squeezed home to give him his 4th goal in the last 3 games. They managed to take in a 2-1 lead at half-time, the second half was a struggle with Cronies failing to keep hold of the ball allowing their poor opponents to play the ball around. The equaliser came a few minutes into the second half when Baker found himself unmarked and through on goal to loft the ball over the stranded Matt Webb and off the underside of the crossbar for a good goal. Some rugged defending and some good saves helped to keep things all square for a few minutes until midway through the second half Wonder Boys extra man paid dividends as Baker once again found himself with alot of time to coolly finish to nab his hat-trick. Cronies applyed alot of pressure in the dying moments but couldnt quite find the luck they deserved as Wonder Boys held out for all 2 points. Cronies did themselves proud even though they were short and surely if they had all 6 men they would have thrashed a quite simply poor opponent. Josh Denning was captain on the night of his 100th Cronies appearance, a proud day for him and the first black player to achieve such a feat. Cronies manager Matt Webb was unable for comment on what would happen to absent O'Callaghan, he is still awaiting contact from the player and will hear the reason before he makes any decisions although some members of the squad were reportedly unhappy about being left short and were calling for him to be removed from the squad.
Other squad players unable to play were Billy Rouse (Beacon Knights 2nd vs. Winkleigh 2nd) and Frank Ndoli (Heavitree S.U. vs. Newtown).
TEAM: Webb, Denning (c), N.Martin, Rogers, Albusaidi. |

Cronies were loving life after a convincing 6-2 over 2nd place Nimrods at the Clifton Hill Arena this evening. They started the game in a dominating manner and in the early moments went ahead through the legendary Liam Roast. They quickly made it 2 nil with a smart finish from the lively Yaqdhan Albusaidi. Not long after Niall Martin feigned a shot twice to fool the Nimrods defence before striking to make it 3-0. Nimrods then managed to get themselves back in the game with some possession and a goal near the edge of the box. Liam Roast then notched his 2nd with another good team goal. The second half started off slowly as Cronies kept possession well and frustrated their opponents. Yaqdhan Albusaidi bamboozled the defenders to get his third before poor marking allowed the Nimrods striker to power home a shot. However not long after Albusaidi managed to jinx his way through the tiring opponents to get his well deserved hat trick. Good defending from Ty West kept the strikers out while Liam Roast and Sheikh Yaqdhan Albusaidi can count themselves very unlucky not too have scored at least another 3 goals each as they couldnt quite put the finishing touch on some good moves.
TEAM: Webb, West, N.Martin, Roast (c), Albusaidi. |

| Cronies head honcho Matt Webb has announced that they may be taking over Clifton Hill Wednesday League outfit Average Joes. 'The Joes' were founded approxiamtely 4 months ago as a team that would represent the players Exeter College BTEC Sport Second Year class. However due to poor early results the team has struggled to field a team in recents weeks and with a lack of a major financial backer are staring administration and even bankruptcy in the face. The deal would see the Cronies still playing in the Soccer Sixes League but having another team during the summer in the Clifton League. It is unsure how many of the current Average Joes players would continue to play but current Manager Roger Goff has told the Express & Echo of his desire to continue playing as much as he could. Cronies manager Matt Webb already plays for Average Joes when his Cronies commitments allow him and it is believed he would continue playing in the new team. Details of the merger have yet to be finalised but it is believed Cronies should take over before the start of the new season which is in a few weeks. |

Cronies bounced back from last weeks 3-0 trouncing at the hands of new boys Hamlin Hammers with a convincing win over last season bronze medallists Coastal FC. Billy Rouse was again absent due to his 11 a-side commitments and Frank Ndoli was at Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea- Everton. Due to his new found wealth Niall Martin was able to play and it was his powerful strike from just inside the half way line that gave Cronies the lead. The Villagers struggled for the next 10 minutes or so, coming under an onslaught from their attacking Italian rivals with Cristian V coming close on several occasions with keeper Matt Webb having to make some saves. However Coastal's persistance finally paid dividends when Cristian V found himself with time and space to power home a shot from the edge of the d. The turning point of this match came shortly after as young Harry Rogers burst down the left wing only to be tripped by the meathead defender. The free-kick was given but the defender was adamant that he had not fouled Rogers. The pair exchanged insults, 'Fuck off you little twat' was met with 'Fuck off you bald cunt'. The defender reacted angrily to this 'bald cunt' remark and then raised his hands to Rogers and shoved him in the face with the youngster sent sprawling. The referee took a dim view to such aggressive actions and promptly sent the defender off despite his appeals. The defender even seemed amazed that he was sent off for the whole match and not just sin-binned. This really opened the game up and gave Cronies more space to play. Just before half-time Omanian international Yaqdhan Albusaidi notched his first of the season with a well placed finish. For most of the second period Cronies dominated proceedings and really should have added more to their tally instead of the solitary goal which was scored by Niall Martin with another good strike.
TEAM: Webb(c), O'Callaghan, Denning, N.Martin, Rogers, Albusaidi. |

| With the money troubles that are currently putting the whole country in doom, Cronies have announced that they have cut their playing budget to make sure the club survives through the tough times. Financial backer Matt Webb has confirmed that the club will not be having any more new kits for the foreseeable future to save money. Although the club is safe from administration at the current time Webb wants to protect it from any potential crisis in the long term, this also means everyone will have to pay their match fees on time (Frank!!). |

| Cronies have bolstered their squad for the rest of the Soccer Sixes season by signing Brendon Holmes. Holmes, 17, has signed intially to the end of the season and made his debut last night in the convincing 5-0 thumping of True Story. He had previously been on non-contract terms at the club and was an unused sub in the 3-2 win over Exeter Allstars two weeks ago. |

Ndoli Out At Sea After Clash With Land
|
Cronies were left reeling after only managing to gain a draw with their match against Newtown Youth. The All Blacks started off poorly and lacked postional organisation from the off with striker Mark Flay playing as a defender and lynchpin Niall Martin playing as an attacker. This confusion led to Shitown taking a 2 goal lead. The first goal was an absolute blast from the past by Dave McOrangesocks. His thunderbolt left keeper Matt Webb flailing like a trout on the end of Captain Birdseye's rod. He made up for this though with a string of fine saves to keep the score down to a small margin. Unfortunately Newgays stole a second goal after a flukey shot snuck in. This was the catalyst Cronies needed to push on and try and claw back the match. Despite being clearly the better TEAM they just couldn't find the goal they craved with both Flay and Frank Ndoli hitting the woodwork. The referee, Tim nice but dim, was also failing to help matters by penalising Cronies players for even touching Aaron 'Wank' Land. Tiernan West felt the refs wrath after Land ran into him from behind whilst West was in possession of the ball. Unfortunately for the 'City Boys' this was a sign of things to come. There was enough time left in the first half for James Ndoli to slot home a reply. At half time Cronies were forced into a major tactical reshuffle as West was forced off ,due to a terrible hand injury sustained whilst challenging fellow Cronie Michael Benyon during Beacon Knights clash with Elmore, and Matt Webb was unable to continue in goal through a dislocated elbow, maybe. This meant that Billy Rouse, who was due to be sitting out and serving his 1 match suspension was forced to play in goal and Webb took his place outfield. Cronies started livelier than their poor opponents but this did not stop them restoring the 2 goal advantage after another lucky goal. This spurred on The Villagers and they were determined to pull it back. But once again the man in the middle conspired against them by booking Sunday League debutant Niall Martin for shoulderbarging Aaron Land off the ball. He was booked for winning the ball fairly to the dismay of his teammates. Newtown's Aaron Matthews reacted angrily to the challenge however and tried to confront Martin, only to be booked for his troubles. That was Newtown's second yellow of the game as they were a dirtier team. Ndoli managed to pull another goal back for CFC with another good strike after glorious team play from Flay. They could have equalised aswell shortly after with player/manager Matt Webb striking the post with a speculative effort. The ball just didnt want to go for Cronies but when it seemed like they didnt have a chance they were handed a lifeline when theyre defender stepped in his own box. Ndoli stepped up and squared the tie from the penalty spot, which sent the shit keeper the wrong way. The ball finally seemed to be in Cronies court when a moment of madness from Tim ruined the game as a spectacle for all involved. Aaron Land was running down the left flank with the ball but got it stuck under his feet as Frank 'Bruno' Ndoli tackled him. Ndoli came away from the challenge with the ball at his feet but, due to Land being possibly the weakest person in the world he fell onto the bar which opens the fire door and fell through the door in a dramatic dive which Pires would have been proud of. For this 'foul' Ndoli received his marching orders because in the words of Tim, "He made no attempt to play the ball and it was reckless." When Webb queried him over his decision saying, "There was no intent there, he won the ball fairly!" He could only repost with, "I am not even going to respond to that!". Not long after this incident he blew the whistle for full time with Cronies still in attack and looking good for a winner. However this was just the start of things to come with some unsavoury moments after the final whistle. The arrogant keeper got in a stressy with Webb and refused to shake his hand after Webb accidently propelled the ball in his general direction. This started a confrontation between the players but was quickly diffused by Tim. Things didn't improve for the team from this moment though. as Ndoli walked back in to get his stuff from the dugout Tim came over to tell him he had a 1 match ban for his red card. Frank refused to accept this though and when threatend with an extended 3 week ban, he replied, "Yeah so what bruv, gimme a 3 week ban". So he got one. Matters worsened for the young man outside the sportshall with Tim telling him that if he failed to calm down and stop gobbing off he would receive a 3 month ban from all football. Frank didnt seem to care at this threat though as he doesn't like Tim.
Tim: Give me your name, else ill report you to the Devon FA and you'll get a 3 month ban.
Ndoli: Yeah right you can't do that.
Tim: (Pointing at referee uniform) I can, i'm an official referee, give me your name or else ill report you.
Ndoli: But how are you supposed to report me if you havent got my name?
This killed Tim.
Tim: What is your name?
Frank James Bruno : My name is James Bruno.
Tim: Frank James Bruno
Frank James Bruno: Yeah you joker.
But Frank was not finished there and continued his abuse towards him until he left the reception in a rage to cool down outside. When Tim asked his teammates what his name was they wouldn't tell him as they didn't want to stitch him up.
Even after cooling down outside for a few minutes Bruno wanted to wait outside for Tim so he could punch him, but he was persuaded to jog on.
After tonights events, Cronies disciplinary record after 3 games in the new sunday league reads like this, 3 yellows and 3 reds. Ndoli has picked up 2 yellows and a red, Martin has received a yellow and Rouse and Roast have received a red card each. This is some achievement as they now have more cards than points.
Team: Webb, West (Rouse), Martin, Ndoli
Newtown: 2 Yellows
Cronies: 1 Yellow, 1 Red |

Terrorising Tyrer Torments Terrorists
|
In Cronies final saturday night at Clifton Hill appearance they played tough outfit Zaeem instead of the scheduled fixture against Lightning McQueen. Zaeem stole into a 2-nil lead after Cronies let their concentration slip at the back. They managed to peg it back to 2-1 at the break courtesy of a Mark Flay penalty. Cronies gaffer Matt Webb replaced youngster Jacob O'Callaghan for livewire striker Stewart Tyrer at the break to give the team more attacking impetus. It paid divedends with Cronies rippng a tired looking team to shreds with their quick thinking and forward play. In the end Cronies killed the match off winning 8-4. Stewart Tyrer was booked for over zealous goal celebrating(shouting yes in a funny voice) and fouling one of their players in a professional foul. This is not the first time Tyrer has been in controversy after he received a lifetime ban the previous he played against Zaeem for apparent racism. This was later rescinded on appeal.

Injury Agony For Youngter
|
Cronies starlet Harry Rogers faces a lengthy 5 weeks on the touchline after breaking his wrist playing for his school team on Thursday. In St Lukes 3-1 reverse to West Exe he slipped and snapped his wrist in half with his hand only just hanging on by a thread. After a tense 12 hour operation surgeons managed to reattach the hand completely and save his whole arm. It was only after the operation that the full extent of the damage was known, Fabrice Fernandes, the club doctor, told of Roger's story.
" It was probably the worst injury i have ever seen in my life! If it wasn't for the quick thinking of the paramedics at the scene he could have lost all of the right hand side of his body."
Long suffering fans will wonder when Cronies Academy injury crisis will end with Ryan Clarke also breaking his leg badly. |

Cronies battled hard and dug deep to claim all 2 points in their vital derby clash. It was a gritty affair in the opening stages with neither team managing to get any clear cut chances with most of the football being scrapped for in the centre of the park. Cronies handed a second start to Gavin Weeks in goal with usual custodian Matt Webb taking his place in the heart of defence with Josh Dizzle Denning. When Cronies did manage to fashion a goal bound attempt in the form of Tom Burridge's low drive the Coastal keeper was equal to it and pulled off a neat save.
The second half saw Webb reclaim his place in goal so Weeks could assist the lone striker Frank Ndoli but this tactical move was soon switched again when midfield lynchpin Michael Benyon injured his knee and was forced to play the remainder of the match in goal. This shake-up seemed to stir Cronies into life with some total football being played at times. They finally mustered their breakthrough midway through the second period, Webb seizing possession after a Coastal defender tripped on the ball before cutting a fine ball inside to the onrushing Ndoli who notched emphatically with the talismanic striker making it 11 for the campaign.
From this point on the match descended into a scrappy affair with Cronies defending heroically at times to prevent Coastal from drawing level. Cronies could have put the tie to bed but Gav Weeks fluffed his lines with the goal at his mercy after Frank Ndolis shot rebounded off the keeper. Cronies managed to hold out for the win and regain their 4 point advantage at the top of the table after True Story toppled Exeter Allstars to leapfrog them into 2nd position. |

Michael Benyon is now back from a career threatening broken spine, Cronies FC club physio Alessandro Diego told the press today. He had already ruptured it but aggravated the injury once again whilst playing on heroically in Cronies 1-0 win over True Story. He was due to take a month out on the sidelines but has returned to playing last night with a cameo appearance in Young Guns 2-0 reverse in the Premiership and was also a unused sub in Cronies 4-0 mauling of basement battlers Team Jason.
Benyon told the press last night, "I'm fine", but Cronies players and fans alike will be hoping he can stay fit for the remainder of the season as Cronies charge for honours. |

|
The 3-0 scoreline doesn't show the true story of the match and rather flatters the league leaders. With midfield rock Michael Benyon absent through injury Cronies struggled to get to grips with their Arab opponents who had the majority of the spoils in the opening exchanges.
Infact it even took a fortuitous goal from talismanic forward Frank Ndoli to put them ahead. The stand-in Arabian keeper unlucky spilt the ball over his own goal line. This seemed to be the turning point in the game with Cronies starting to improve their passing game. Ex-Crone Yaqdhan Albusaidi almost restored parity when he shot was saved by the toes of Cronies No1 Matt Webb.
In the second period Cronies were only marginally better although Frank Ndoli did manage to add another 2 goals to claim his second hat-trick of the season. Some good defending from Cronies and a late save from Webb meant they sealed another 2 points.

There are rumours going round that Cronies Star Mark Flay, currently on a wednesday night loan at Young Guns, wants a return to Cronies on a full-time basis, and wants his loan at Young guns terminated after their recent poor displays, he is reportedly downhearted at being stuck in goal, although Young Guns manager Nick Watts fully knows of his desire to play outfield and help Youngs Guns end their goalscoring drought. Mark will apparently sit down and discuss his future with Matt Webb before informing Nick Watts where his future lies, losing Flay might just be the final nail in Young Guns Soccer Sixes Premier Division coffin, and he fully knows he could only be sub most nights for Cronies, but the details will ironed out, and Flay looks seemingly ready to return to the Cronies fold.
More on this news as we get it... |

Cronies suffered last gasp agony in their first ever meeting with Arabic outfit Zaeem Rovers. Cronies were immediately on the back foot when a Zaeem player ran through unchallenged and slotted home bottom corner.
Cronies pegged it back though and turned it around when Billy Rouse equalised with a well taken goal. Comeback kid Mark 'Wolnaldo' Flay put the All-Blacks ahead against a team who have cheekily gone and got the same kit as Cronies.
Things soon took a downward spiral for Cronies as youngster Martin Tyrer was spotted kicking out at a Zaeem player in an off the ball incident. The referee had no qualms in giving him his marching orders with a straight red card. Cronies were immediately on the back foot and former Cronie Yaqdhan Albusaidi equalised and then put Zaeem ahead either side of half time in this topsy turvy affair. Stewart Tyrer replaced Flay for the second half and made an immediate inpact scoring with a thunderbolt. Zaeem almost predictably put themselves back in front after scoring a fortuitous deflected effort. But Cronies were not happy about this and immediately Tyrer restored parity between the two sides with another smart finish. Unfortunately there was still enough time for Zaeem to nab another goal and this time it was to prove fatal. A Zaeem attacker had a snapshot which seemed innocuous enough but goalkeeper Matt Webb was wrong footed and made a hash off a simple ball, by a deflection off defensive rock Danny Rouse with the ball agonisingly trickling over the line to give The Arabs all 3 points.
Things got even worse for Cronies as Stewart Tyrer was given a lifelong Clifton Hill ban by Tim the referee. More details of that to follow.

A cheeky little upstart snubbed the advances of captain Billy Rouse when he was approached to play for Cronies as they were a player short.
He simply snarled, "No" at the club stalwart, 16.
Ex-Central goalkeeper Matt Phillips was also asked to become their sixth man but was unable to fill the void.
The little kid has now rumoured to have joined Cronies rivals Ship FC. |

It was a dark, windy and rainswept wednesday evening at St James School, the type of conditions which footballers dread, but the kind of match that they love.
This could well prove to be the defining moment in the race for the title. Win and you've opened up an advantage over your rivals, lose and they are sniffing your asses.
A hopeful shot from Frank Ndoli may just have pissed on True Story's title chances and could be a chance for Cronies to push on this season.
It all looked gloomy at the start, with overcast weather and with only 5 players at the start Cronies backs were up against the wall. The first half was all about consolidation, making sure they were still in contention come the interval. Infact it was the opposite with Cronies forcing True Story back into their own half, unable to fully utilise their 1 man advantage. Niall Martin had the best chance of the half almost nudging the league leaders ahead.
With Frank Ndoli returning from his suspension at half-time Cronies were finally able to go all guns blazing in an attempt to blitz 'Story who had only lost their unbeaten record the previous week. Cronies showed their class and team play, solid at the back and attacking with flair and precision. It was a great passing move which led to Ndoli's screamer, the whole team combining well before Ndoli somehow squeezed in his strike. From then on it was all about staying firm at the back. And, for the most part of it, Cronies did, defending stoutly and disciplined. On a couple of occasions though keeper Matt Webb was finally called to prove he's worth his 7 game clean sheet streak, once he bravely confronted the feet of a True Story attacker and on the second occasion he foiled a Jamie Smith attempt with a fine left handed save. Ironically it was infact Smith who was the last player to score against him and came the closest to spoiling the record. Cronies managed to see it home and claim all 2 points.

True Story Pre-Match Interview With Mat t Webb
|
Cronies FC manager Matt Webb has kindly accepted the invitiation to have a pre match interview ahead of what could be, the title decider, versus True Story FC.
This game will be featured on Setanta Sports 6-a-side highlight show, starting at 10PM, Setanta Sports 1
Tough game tonight aginst tough opposition, you looking forward to tonights game?
Matt Webb : Of course its a big match and thats what every player and manager wants to be involved in...a chance to test yourself on the big stage.
But Frank Ndoli got a hat-trick last game, and he could be missing tonight, is he a big miss?
M.W: Well hes the kind of impact player that could make the difference in a title match like we're expecting tonight but we have won games without him so im confident with my squad, regardless of whos playing.
But goalscoring options have been cut down severly, do you think you have one player who could replace Frank Ndoli, or will it have to be a team effort?
M.W: Well if you look at the stats we've had 8 different goalscorers this campaign, although no-ones been prolific we've got players who can step up to the plate nad score if needed.
Is it a secret, or can you reveal the starting 6 to us exclusively at Cronies FC?
M.W: Well if Franks appeal is successful then it will be the same team as last week but if not then Tom Burridge will replace him.
Burridge is more defensive and less prolific, do you have the confidence in him to step up and replace Frank?
M.W: Well its not a like for like replacement, we'll switch the formation, its what i like about our squad, its versatile.
Have you ever thought about calling up Ryan Smales to the wednesday night squad and going outfield yourself?
M.W: Well Ryan Smales in unavailable on wednesday due to Heavitree training so that was never really an option i could have considered.
Ok Matt, one final question, fans have been wondering, Mark Flay is currently on loan at Young Guns, will he ever make a comeback for Cronies?
M.W: Yes..he is a Cronies player and thats the way its going to stay for the foreseeable future.
Thanks for your time matt and good luck.
M.W: No..thank you for your time and cheers we'll try and do the club proud. |

Cronies FC 8-2 Lightning McQueen
|
Cronies got back to Clifton form with this dynamic display which blew away the experience Lightning McQueen in the teams first ever meeting.
Martin Tyrer put away two early chances to put The Red Bulls in front before The McQueens pulled a goal back. Billy Rouse scored with a most spiffing effort and Tyrer made it 4 with his third before yet again McQueen pulled one back. Cronies pulled away in the second timeframe and showed their class with some neat interlinking play. Tyrer and Rouse netted another goal apiece before Danny Rouse got in on the act with a beatifully worked goal and Liam Roast scored a well deserved goal after some gritty perserverence put him through on goal.

In form outfit Cronies FC handed new boys Coastal FC a right royal pasting in this top versus almost bottom clash. With Burridge and Holmes unavailable for action Cronies handed a first start of the season to Ghanaian import Frank Ndoli and former hero Niall Martin. It was infact Martin who opened the evenings scoring with a fierce drive which swerved and dipped satisfyingly into the bulging net. This set the 'All-Blacks' into motion with them playing some attractive, free-flowing football. Josh Denning could have scored after breaking free of his marker with an extraordinary touch although he then blazed over. Frank Ndoli made life hell for the Coastal rear guard with his mazy runs and tricky feet and scored twice in the first half to give Cronies a 3-0 interval advantage.
Cronies pushed on after the break and kept pushing for more goals but were almost caught out on the counter with an opposition striker smashing the post. However it was to be Cronies night with Martin completing his brace and Ndoli notching his hat-trick although it could have been many more. Michael Benyon completed the rout before Denning missed a golden opportunity to get a well deserved second of the season from the penalty spot after the goalkeeper handled outside his area. Alas, it was not to be for the Argentian/Italian/Spanish/Turkish player as his penalty was high, wide and not at all handsome and almost went over the fence of the Astroturf.

Cronies FC 5-0 Wesupply FC
|
CFC rounded off the pitch invasion season with a thoroughly convincing hammering of perennial whipping boys and basement outfit Wesupply in what could prove to Cronies final Pitch Invasion appearance.
The All Blacks/Reds started off the game at a quick pace looking to exploit the visitors defensive frailties with some rapid attacking. They opened scoring after beanpole lankster Billy Rouse met Josh Dennings pinpoint header at the back post. Soon after they doubled it with dangerman Matt Webb finishing with a powerful strike after some good work down the left. Cronies passing play was disrupted with a string of subsitutions and went in to the break leading 2 goals to the good.
The second period started brightly with Denning forcing an own goal with his shot, although the 'Dodgy Goals Commitee Panel' later awarded him the dubious goal. Denning then struck again with a sweet strike before Tom Hooper rounded things off with some good 1-2 football with Rouse. In fairness it could have been alot more if it wasn't for some wasteful shooting. Dan Regan had some glorious chances on his Cronies swansong but was unable to apply the killer touch.

Cronies 1-2 Psycho Strikers
|
Cronies lost to early pace setters and title favourites Psycho Strikers in a match they surely should have won. Cronies team was weakened with several first team regulars absent with Junior Rouse and Junior Tyrer unable to play. Cronies thought their luck was in as Psycho were only able to field four players and The Villagers took an early lead through ........... However things would soon take a turn for the worse with CFC getting caught out at the back allowing The Maniacs to score two breakaway goals against the run of play. Despite the majority of the possession Cronies were unable to find the cutting edge they needed and with the 4 men defending stoutly they just couldn't break through. This was a golden opportunity for Cronies to put some real pressure on the league leaders but blew it with this performance.

Cronie moved to the summit of Division Two after this battling performance against third place Ship FC. In a must win game for Cronies they worked hard in what was a tough match. Neither team could find a breakthrough in an edgy first half with neither side really wanting to commit to many players forward in a risk of getting caught on the counter.
The All Blacks finally made use of their possession with Josh Denning teeing up subsitute Frank Ndoli to put The Villagers ahead. Ship FC appealed as goalkeeper Matt Webb had rolled the ball to Rouse to start the attack whilst outside the area to the back. Their appeals fell on deaf ears however as the goal stood. Cronies asserted their dominance from this point till the final whistle and even managed to nab a second goal, this time Ndoli repaid the favour and squared the ball to Denning who fired home to wrap up all 2 points.

Cronies FC 2-0 Haldon Landscapes
|
Cronies blitzed helpless Haldon Landscapes with a dominant performance from start to finish to get their season back to winning ways. Cronies used the experimental 8 man rotational system and it paid dividents with a baffled Haldon Landscapes unable to contain Cronies youth and enthusiasm. Player/ Boss Matt Webb put Cronies ahead with a confident finish after a great run and a one-two with Aaron Beacroft. He almost doubled the lead with an exquisit lob over the stranded Haldon goaltender but to Webb's despair it hit the outside of the upright. Despite their possession Cronies couldn't finish off their moves, coming close several times until Tom Burridge notched deep into the second half with a good finish.

Cronies FC 3-2 Red Express
|
It was a tight match at the Clifton Hill Arena but Cronies managed to edge it thanks to some good team work and the inspirational finishing of Martin Tyrer. Cronies were made to work hard for the points in this encounter and maybe slighly under estimated their opponents early on as they had demolished them 9-1 only the previous month.
There was to be no such scoreline tonight with Express giving Cronies a scare by taking an early lead. Tyrer scored a rapid 2 goal response to put the pressure back on their opponents and completed his hat-trick and get the match ball in the second half to make sure of the points. Once again Red Express worried The Crooners by pulling a goal back late on but it was to be to no avail as Cronies saw out time to take home the win.

Cronies kept up thier promotion push with a well earned 2-0 victory over languishing Yeomans FC.
Cronies were given an early reprieve as Yeomans thought they had scored, but the striker was adjudged to have breached the area. The rest of the first half was played out with neither side creating any clear cut chances. The second half saw Cronies seize the initiative and play some attractive, free-flowing football. The took the lead with a real contender for goal of the season. Sam Holmes lofted a cross-field ball to Stu Tancock who was arriving at the back post. He sweetly struck the ball with the outside of his right foot whilst in mid-air and sent the ball first class past the stricken keeper. Cronies fans held their breath as Michael Benyon was sin-binned for apparently tripping an opponent. The All Blacks weathered the storm however and once he was back on the pitch they scored a decisive second which was a great team goal. After some good work from Webb, Burridge and Tancock in defence, Benyon zapped a ball to Josh Denning who cooly took the ball down and slotted it to Holmes who blasted the in his third of the campaign. Cronies had further chances to add to their tally but Yeomans held firm.

Cronies FC 1-2 Mix Click FC
|
Cronies could count themselves desperately unlucky not to take all 3 points away from this clash with old foes Mix Click. Click took an undeserved lead after some misunderstandings in the Cronies defence and somehow doubled their lead with a tame shot which should never had gone in. Cronies pushed all match but struggled to get the goals they craved. Debutant Aaron Beacroft scored The Villagers only goal with a well struck shot. Cronies continued to pepper shots at the Mix Click goal but luck wasn't shining on them with goal-line clearances and the woodwork denying them deserved goals.

Cronies FC 1-0 Exeter Allstars
|
Cronies fought hard and dug deep to get a 1-0 win over promotion chasing Exeter Allstars. In a close knit game the only thing denying Cronies from storming ahead was the inspirational goalkeeping from the Allstars custodian. Cronies introduced Ghanaian superstar Frank Ndoli at half time to try and conjure up a goal but he just couldnt find the killer touch on his return to the club.It looked for a while that Cronies luck was out until Michael Benyon placed the ball out of the keepers reach and into the bottom corner.

Cronies FC 6-4 The Veterans
|
Cronies started the season witha thrilling win over newcomers The Veterans.
The match started slowly with neither team being able to make any chances. The Veterans then took the lead with a stunning goal from their frontman. Things got from bad to worse as The Vets got a second after some sloppy play. To add to Cronies woes youngster Martin Tyrer picked up a yellow card for what can only be seen as foul and abusive languge. Before the break Cronies got back into the game, with Martin Tyrer scoring to great goals showing that he cant just hit them for distance, he can walk them into the net aswel.
In the second half Cronies started the brighter of the two sides but fell behind once again after another good goal from the Vets. Late call in Liam Roast got cronies back on level terms with a wonderful goal beating 3 players before passing the ball into the net. Billy Rouse then put Cronies ahead with a very good finish from just inside the opposition half. Martin Tyrer completed a hat-trick before The Vets got a late lifeline. Cronies then sealed the win with an absolute screamer from ironically the veteran Danny Rouse, he controlled the ball on the knee and smashed it home from the half way life.

Cronies pulled off a shock win over 3rd place Premiership outfit WSP Isca in a friendly. Cronies outclassed their higher league opposition with slick passing and should have scored more than a solitary Michael Benyon strike deep into the second- half. George Robinson missed several one on ones late on as Cronies cut open WSP. On the few occasions WSP mustered an attack keeper Matt Webb was equal to it. Cronies survived a late scare when Sam Holmes passed the ball back to his own area unawares that Webb was missing from the goal as he was retrieving a ball from the other pitch. Blushes were spared however as the ball trickled just past the post.

Cronies comprehensively beat Division 2 strugglers Team Jason in their 5th league outing of the season. Sam Holmes gave The Villagers the lead late in the first half with George Robinson adding a second later on. It should have been many more but Cronies wasted a lot of good opportunities when it seemed easier to score than to miss. Josh Denning was sin binned for un-sportsmanlike behaviour with only seconds remaining.

With Taylor Wimpey failing to turn up for a second successive season Cronies played a friendly against Premiership side Destruction. Cronies were taught a footballing lesson by The Students and were torn apart by some clinical passing and powerful shooting on a fast surface.
Cronies put up a fight but just couldn't contain the pace of their opposition. Josh Denning scored 2 good second-half goals and Matt Webb was denied by both the posts after a great cross from Dan Regan.

Cronies FC 3-9 Pyscho Strikers
|
The season ended badly for Cronies with a very dissapointing defeat at the hands of Champions Pyscho Strikers.
Pyscho took the lead before a quick reply from Martin Tyrer levelled the scoring. Cronies were then dealt a huge blow when Player/Manager Matt Webb suffered a dead leg forcing him out of the game to be replaced by Mark Flay. Pyscho showed why they are champions with some great football to make it 2-1. Poor marking gifted Pyscho another 3 goals which put the game beyond doubt. M.Tyrer added his second with an outsanding strike to make 5-2. Psycho scored 2 more before Tyrer completed his hat-trick with a cool finish. Before the final whistle pyscho added another 2, to make it 9-3.
With that defeat Cronies had a dissapointing season finished in 5th and will hope to make up for it in the new season. Cronies face The Vetarans in the first game of the new season this saturday.

Despite Cronies not buying any more players they have still been busy fending off the advances of other clubs for their top players. Josh Denning has turned down moves to VfB Stuttgart, Lyon, Torino and ambitious Russians Zenit St Petersburg. The 17 year-old spoke to the press earlier saying, "I would turn down a whole string of clubs because i am loving life playing for The Villagers."
Promising youngster Harry Rogers has gone on a short-term loan to Serie A side Sampdoria to gain first team experience. He had rejected a move to Championship languishers Cardiff City. The move is not just about football, it will help him with his GCSE's by following his mentor Denning by learning the language.
Kilnarnock have had their approach for Ryan Smales and Martin Tyrer rebuffed. It is reported that they offered £5m for both plus Moroccon midfielder Mehdi Taouil or midfielder Danny Invincible. |

Cronies returned to winning ways with a well earned victory over EC Dons last night. Cronies started well and were all over their opposition like a bad rash. They unfortunately couldn't find a break through with Michael Benyon and Sam Holmes unable to find the back of the net. Josh Denning and George Robinson were introduced at the break as Cronies looked for the cutting edge. Tom Burridge managed to get the goal they craved after good work from Denning, Knight and Tancock. Cronies soaked up pressure from the Dons frontline and held out for their third win of the season.

" Firstly i'd like to congratulate the lads for a spiffing performance today and a good result. This season is going to be full of scrappy games won by the odd goal and we showed good tenacity last night. Also i would like to thank assistant manager Mark Flay for his help tonight. It's nice to have someone to help with decisions when you're out on the pitch. I've come under fire recently for choosing some of the players i have done and i would just like to defend my selections. Recently we've had problems getting a squad together so at the moment im just looking for a bit of consistency in the wednesday team. I would also like to add that some of these players were going to be in this team before Cronies took over so it would be unfair to turn them away. I would like to know who these unworthy players are as no-one in the squad is giving Cronies a bad name at the moment. I'm sorry if ive upset some of the senior members of the squad with my selections but its hard to keep everyone happy when you've got 3 teams to pick. At the moment im trying to cut the numbers of players we have in the wednesday team to get a squad of people playing week-in week out. Some of the people playing at the moment may only be temporary so everyone has a chance." |

Hooper rules himself out of Wednesday night league
|
16:41 30/1/08
Club Co-Chairman Thomas Peter Hooper has today ruled himself out of the wednesday league team ahead of tonights game. He seems dissapointed with manager Matt Webb after he is bringing in alot of new faces, some who don't warrant a place in the side.
He had this to say "Well im dissapointed with Matt after he is throwing out debuts to players who nobodies even heard of! He seems to be losing Cronies loyal names with all these new faces, who quite honestly don't deserve to be in the squad!"
Cronies wednesday nights will also be without other Co-Chairman Billy Rouse for next 3 weeks, as he has work commitments and a coaching course.
Cronies lie in 5th place aheads of tonights fixture against E.C Dons. |

Cronies fans will be delighted this evening after hearing that assistant manager Mark Flay turned down an approach from League 1 promotion candidates Leeds United. Ken Bates approached Flay after Gary McAllister agreed to be the manager, but Flay turned him down on the spot, Leeds are now looking at different personnel including Young Guns manager Nick Watts, who is an outside contender, Steve McClaren, the favourite and Gianluca Vialli, although it seems McClaren is the 2nd choice behind Flay.
''Basically Ken Bates approaced me to ask if i was interested in becoming assistant manager to Gary McAllister and possibly taking over from the scotsman when he left, but i turned him down, because i believe Cronies are going places, and i know Leeds are promotion contenders, but so are Cronies, and im not gonna leave my childhood team, even if i was offered triple pay, money is not an object when you enjoy your job, and i can safely say, i have a great job!''
Flay, who has previous coaching experience from his time as Goalkeeping Coach at Heavitree Dynamoes, is also said to be happy that his former Protégé, Ryan Smales, is now getting his chance to prove his worth in goal for Cronies, with two outstanding performances to date. |

Cronies were left reeling yesterday after suffering a setback at the hands of championship contenders Toddies Boys. Cronies started well but Toddies Boys struck early on to put the villagers on the back foot. Tom Hooper equalised soon after after some great team play. Toddies Boys showed their class with another goal but once again they were pegged back with the mercurial Pete Hensor nabbing a goal in his third successive game since joining the club. Things were going swimmingly for The Villagers until the dismissal of player/boss Matt Webb. Cronies were undone by some neat interplay and Webb took up a position on the line, he was adjudged to have blocked a shot with his arm intentionally and was given a controversial straight red even though they scored the rebound. Toddies Boys scored from the resulting penalty which gave them an almost unasssilable advantage. 4-man Cronies and even Toddies Boys were stunned by the decision and things almost got worse for them when Ryan Smales handled outside his area. Toddies Boys put the game beyond the reach of the battling Cronies with a decisive fourh goal. Josh Denning almost gave them a lifeline when he turned exquisitely twice but failed to score after some great goalkeeping.
"This is the first time that this ref has made some dodgy decisions and today he's left us and our opponents baffled. We come down here every week and hand over our hard earned cash for a decent game of football, these referees are getting paid to do a job and at the moment, some referees in particular are spoiling it. I don't like slaging off referees but i have no choice when they are making blatantly crap decisions, i just can't take it anymore. Im happy with the way my team played tonight, they did the good name of Cronies proud and kept battling right to the death, i think Toddies Boys were the better team and maybe deserved the win but not in those circumstances. If i hadn't of been sent-off then who knows? We could have done it. We've just got to be positive now and flush this bad result out of the system, look forward and try and get ourselves back on track, we've got a quality team and hopefully we can go on and do well this season."
Manager Matt Webb's outspoken remarks could land him in even more trouble with the FA as this is not the first time during his reign Cronies have been in hot water.

Cronies romped to victory over a lacklustre Red Express side on Saturday night. Red Express were still shellshocked after the departure of their star goalie and couldn't contain Cronies freeflowing football. Matt Webb set the ball rolling with 2 goals early on with Martin Tyrer making it 3 after Red Express had pulled one back. Cronies kept pushing and after the break with Billy Rouse scoring a quick-fire brace with some fine finishing. Tyrer grabbed a second before player/manager Webb notched his first ever competitive Cronies hat-trick. Tyrer rounded off the victory with 2 more goals after great defending from Ryan Smales and Danny Rouse.
Matt Webb spoke to the News of the World after the match, "I'm ecstatic with the way the lads played today. They went onto the park on a mission and played some cracking footie. Everything was spot-on, the effort was there right up to the final whistle even when we were 9-1 up, hopefully we can keep that going!"

Boss Matt Webb has told the press that his shopping spree is now over at todays press conferencee.
"Ive been very fortunate this transfer window and ive been able to bring in alot of quality players, but now im happy to work with the current squad. Cronies promotion push was dented last night with a 1 nil reverse against fellow glory chasers True Story. Cronies were immediately on the back foot and had to start with only 5 players until the 3rd minute when the 6th arrived. They were also short due to the non-arrival of Michael Benyon. Cronies struggled to get to grips with their opposition in the 1st half and they gifted them a goal when Stu Tancock inadvertantly passed the ball to True Story's Jamie Smith who slotted home from close range. Ben Knight was handed his Cronies debut at half time as the team set about reversing the deposit. Despite good work from Josh Denning, Tom Burridge and Sam Holmes, Cronies couldn't find the killer touch they desired. They were almost caught out on the counter a couple of times with Matt Webb preventing them from falling further behind. It wasn't to be though and Cronies lost their 100% record.
Player/Manager Matt Webb remarked after the game, "I think this is the wake-up call we need. Hopefully this can kick-start are season. It was always going to be tough tonight and in the end we just lacked a potent finisher and some defensive organisation. I am looking forward to next weeks match where hopefully we will be back to our best."

Rouse Jnr will wear the number 2 shirt for the academy as he looks set for his debut in the coming weeks against the reserves in a friendly.
Liam, who has turned 11 today, had this to say "Im absolutely delighted to sign for the club of my dreams! Its a great club and over the moon to have a chance to play. Billy has already made me feel welcome and has shown me around the facilities, i just cant wait to make my debut!"
Liams deal will expire in 2012 where he should step up to first team duties.

Matt Uren-ates on Romans Title Hopes
|
Cronies stole the show in the first outing of the new season with an impressive win over relegated outfit Roman All Over The Pitch. Boss Matt Webb handed debuts to 2 more players tonight, Ryan Smales who rejoined after previously leaving the club and 17 year-old Matt Uren is a colleague of Billy Rouse. The All-Blacks dominated from the off with some slick passing football which left the crowd purring and wanting more. Fine finishing from Matt Uren (2) and Pete Hensor put them into a convincing half-time lead. They took their foot off the pedal slightly in the second period but could have scored more if it wasnt for some good goalkeeping and some unlucky finishing. Disaster struck however as defensive rock Matt Webb was sin-binned after a couple of late challenges. Cronies really lacked his presence and conceded despite the best efforts of Smales. Pete Hensor made sure of the win with a comprehensive strike before Roman grabbed a consolation goal.

Cronies FC have denied making any bid for Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell, although the papers stated differently. Matt Webb said "I have not made a bid for Sol Campbell the papers were simply chasing a story to fill the tabloids".
Tom Hooper bid declined. West Brom today offered a resounding 4.1 Million pounds for Tom Hooper on a two year contract, Cronies have declined this bid and the chairman had this to say in a press conference. "Tom Hooper is a valuable player who we can't afford to lose at this time", exciting times ahead.

James MacMartin scored the only goal in what proved to be a dour affair at Clifton Hill. Both teams were down to their bare bones, Cronies being forced to hand prospect MacMartin, 15, a debut. The Faces only boasted 4 players and Cronies struggled to take advantage of that in the first half not even being the better team. The second half was only marginally better, as Cronies actually scored a goal. MacMartin ramraiding a screamer of a shot out of the keeper's reach. That was as good as it got, Billy Rouse suffered a knee injury and was forced to play the final third in goal. Cronies shut out the game playing football with little imagination, only with the 3 points in mind. Matt Webb put in a series of good challenges and Rouse made a great save to prevent any comeback. Webb got booked for 2 rash challenges, with certain members of the opposition and crowd feeling it should have been more. Young Martin Tyrer also received a yellow for a supposed foul and then kicking the ball away in disgust. The result was met with boos from The Faces crowd as Cronies managed a crucial result over their rivals.
Manager Matt Webb had this to say, " It was a terrible match to play in and it must have been worse to watch, i don't like my team playing footy like that but sometimes in football results are more important than popularity. The young lad MacMartin did well today though as this match was a potential banana-skin and his finish was first rate"

Cronies continued their good start to the season with a convincing victory over Red Army. Chances were few and far between in a cagey first half with both defences keeping it as tight as a badgers anus. The Blacks looked for more creative flair in the second period bringing on Mark Flay and Liam Roast for impressive debutant James Knight and Josh Denning. Sam Holmes put the youngsters ahead with a powerful drive and celebrated in style with a kiss from Billy Rouse. Rouse doubled their advantage with a penalty after a Red Army defender encroached the area. Cronies played out the rest of the game relatively untroubled until a great strike from a Red Army attacker pulled a goal back for a nervy finish.
After this result Cronies go top as the only team with a 100% record.

New Academy boss Billy Rouse, 16, has expressed his delight for two of his Academy stars. Martin Tyrer and Harry Rogers are both set for six week trials at Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City respectively.
"Im absolutely delighted for the youngsters! They have both been in suberb form all season, espicially when they have stepped up to the first team. Its suberb for them but i want to ask is - what took you so long? These players are a great asset to our club, or any club for that matter so i just cant believe its taken the 'big teams' so long to come in for them. All i can say now is good luck to the lads." |

New manager Matt Webb has been a busy beaver so far during the transfer window looking for new faces. He last night tied up a deal for Pete Hensor who made a trialist appearance in yesterday's win. He has put pen to paper on a 1 year deal to play in the Monday Night league.
The club is believed to be close to securing deals for a sportsworld trio. Sam Holmes, Simon Holmes and Stu Tancock could all feature in tomorrow's Soccer Sixes match versus Red Army.
Sam Toghill is currently in negotiations with Team Bath over a possible loan move for the youth keeper. He has already turned down offers from Leigh RMI, AFC Telford and Ryman League South team Leatherhead. The club also turned down a cash offer, believed to be around £2,500, for the 14 year-old, from Southern League team Mangotsfield United. The youngster has yet to break into the first team and new academy boss Billy Rouse wants him to get some first team experience.
Dan Regan has rebuffed an approach from Serie B strugglers Frosinone. He has vowed to stay and fight for his place at Cronies even though he is out of contract at the end of the next Pitch Invasion season. He was told at the start of the transfer window that he could leave the club but he wanted to stay for another season at least. |

Chairmen Billy Rouse and Tom Hooper have decided to give the managers position to Matt Webb full time. This comes on the back of some good performances from the Cronies. His only defeat came at the hands of champions Muts Nuts although that game was awarded to Cronies so technically he has a 100% record with the other matches being a 1-0 win over Northern Hay, a 6-5 triumph over Inter Behindhaven and lasts night victory against Haldon Landscapes.
He had this to say at today's press conference,
" I am proud and honoured to be able to say that i am first team manager of Cronies FC. I hope to take the club to great success."
It has also been announced that Mark Flay will be his assistant with Billy Rouse taking over Webb's former role as Academy boss and club captain. |

Cronies FC 7-3 Haldon Landscapes
|
Cronies rounded off the season in style with a convincing rout of Haldon Landscapes in a rowdy match. Mark Flay opened the scoring after pouncing on a loose ball after confusion struck between the keeper and the defence. Haldon came back into the fray however as persistence down the left flank opened up the Cronies defence to equalise past the helpless Rouse. They then took the lead after debutant Pete Hensor was bundled out of the way and the Haldon attacker slotted home. Despite the protests of the Cronies players the goal stood. Martin Tyrer equalised with a clever finish and almost put them in front witha speculative effort from the half way line. Haldon put themselves in front for the second time in controversial fashion, Cronies players started to walk off the pitch as they thought the referee had blown for half time however it was the ref from the adjacent pitches' whistle, the Haldon players played on however and scored with the ball slipping through Rouse's hands. Several Cronies players were reprimanded and had to be dragged away from the ref in protest. Cronies bucked up their ideas in the second half with Rouse making some key blocks and Josh Denning putting his life on the line with some awesome defending. Tom Hooper grabbed a second half brace and Pete Hensor got a debut hat-trick as Cronies romped home in spectacular fashion. It could of been more if certain Cronies players had been more unselfish instead of going for personal gain.
Cronies will wait and see if the incident at half-time will land them in hot water with the FA. Although they may sue Haldon after they were quoted before the match as calling Cronies 'gay', which violates several FA laws on homophobism.
Cronies final league position is third now as they have been awarded a 3-0 win against Muts Nuts as they did not pay their match fee.

Haldon Landscapes Preview
|
Cronies go into the final match of the season against Haldon looking to finish off a poor season with a win. Hopes will be high after last weeks performance against league winners Muts Nuts.
Player/ Caretaker boss Matt Webb has ruled himself out of the match will a bruised hip with Dan Regan expected to replace him. Pete Hensor could make his club debut and Josh Hannaford is due to play again with the rest of the team the same as last week. Billy Rouse is filling in between the sticks. |

Dutch international Klaas- Jan Huntelaar has rebuffed manager Matt Webb's attempts to sign him. At a recent press conference the forward had this to say, " No! "
Cronies are believed to have joined the chase for Exeter hitman Jamie Mackie. The forward, 22, wants to stay in the area and a move to Cronies would suit him best according to a source close to the player.
The clubs hunt for a second choice keeper has been unfruitful so far, ex- Manchester and West Ham star Raimond van der Gouw has rejected a chance to be player-coach for the All Blacks. Another former Red Devils stopper Mark Bosnich has snubbed their approach as he wants to play at a higher level. 34-year old Italian Carlo Cudicini is currently mulling over the option of joining the club.
On the managerial front Sam Allardyce has ruled himself out of the bid to become the new boss at the Wonford Club as has Bobby Robson and Steve Maclaren. One time target Jurgen Klinsmann has now moved to Bayern Munich. |

Cronies FC 6-5 Inter Beehindhoven
|
Matt Webb got his second win in as many games as caretaker boss as Cronies stirred to a enthralling second half comeback against Inter Beehindhoven. It started rosily for the dons taking a brief lead through assistant manager Mark Flay. Things quickly turned sour with some slack defending allowing Inter to take a 2-1 advantage before the mercurial Stewart Tyrer equalised. Things took a downward spiral however with Inter scoring twice in quick succession to take in a 4-2 lead at the interval. Danny Rouse, Stewart Tyrer and Martin Tyrer were involved in a mass brawl with 1 Inter player and had to be disciplined by the ref. Cronies switched tactics at half-time and made an awe-inspiring comeback and exploited the weaknesses in a poor side. Stewart Tyrer added another 3, and could have had more if it wasnt for the woodwork, to make it 5-4. At that point Cronies thought they were safe but a slight lapse in concentration brought it all square. Martin Tyrer got some birthday however and notched the winner in stoppage time. Billy Rouse was magnificent even though he did not score or assist a goal as was Matt Webb.
Caretaker gaffer Matt Webb had this to say, " The 2nd half performance left me purring. We should never had been troubled by such a shambles of an outfit. They made some disgraceful challenges and did not deserve to win. I am pleased with the team and i couldn't of asked for more.

Cronies opened their account in the Soccer Sixes League with a convincing win over Northern Hay. Both teams struggled to get to grips with the tough, wet conditions. Cronies played a solid game creating most of the chances in the first half with George Robinson and Tom Hooper both coming close. In the second half things really started to open up in Cronies favour with Hooper and Robinson finding themselves through for opportunities to score. Unfotunately for Hooper, his footwear would not allow him to score as he slipped on the tricky surface. With 5 minutes remaining Cronies got the breakthrought they deserved. Keeper' Matt Webb lobbed a long ball to Tom Burridge, who in turn fed speedster Robinson who decisively struck home to give the newboys' a maiden win.

Cronies remains the centre of attention for transfer news as manager Matt Webb keeps tabs on a number of possible recruits. Tottenham rejects Lee Young-Pyo, Pascal Chimbonda and Anthony Gardner are believed to have been subjects of bids from Webb, 16. The club can confirm that a bid for Jerman Defoe, 25 has been rejected by the North London club. Boss Juande Ramos descibed the £5.2 million bid as 'deregotory'.
The clubs foreign scouts have been working overtime this week as the caretaker gaffer looks to boost his team with some big names from around the globe. The biggest name of them all, Dmitri Lobandonadalakowsky , a 19 year-old Russian is currently playing for Lithuanian 6th place outfit Atlantas Klaipeda. He was quoted as saying 'I would love to play for Cronies' by the Lithuanian press. Other reports suggest that bids might be made for Brazilians' Gleber and Amandinho both 22. They both play for Cronies twin team FC Ghana United.
The club can also confirm that 18 year-old forward Mark Flay is the new assistant to caretaker boss Matt Webb. His first game will be this saturday although the opposition are yet to be confirmed. |

Cronies FC vs Northern Hay
|
Cronies commence their first ever Soccer Sixes season tonight against Northern Hay. Northern Hay are expected to challenge for the title this season so this will be a stern test for the newcomers.
Careteaker boss Matt Webb has had a tough selection choice as many players are still unsure of their availability for the clash due to work commitments. Expected to play are: Webb, Michael Benyon, Tom Burridge, Tom Hooper and Billy Rouse although the latter will only play if needed. Josh Denning, Sam Holmes, Josh Hannaford and Stu Tancock are still uncertainties. |
|
|
|
The hectic transfer period is continuing at Cronies with Josh Hannaford joining the club on a extended trial period. However fans may be concerned at news that Josh Denning has been tapped up by rival club Mix Click FC. Cronies club spokesman Ernie Mayweather had this to say, "Unfortunately i cannot say too much about this at the present time, as the authorities have been informed and this is an ongoing legal case."
Denning, 17, is out of contract at the end of the season and the club are keen for him to pencil a new deal. News of Mix Click's interest may worry them however.
Caretaker boss Matt Webb is also keeping tabs on the availability of non-contract signing Sam Holmes after his impressive friendly performance against Albuquerque Isotopes midweek. Holmes has expressed his interest in signing but the club are facing tough competition from FC Barcelona whose manager Frank Rijkaard is a keen admirer of the player. Webb was hoping Holmes would be available to play in a possible Cronies fixture either tonight or on wednesday but he is unable to due to prior work commitments. |

Cronies battled valiantly in what could be descibed as their best display of the pitch invasion season. It was always going to be tough against the runaway league leaders but without Dan Regan they looked a different outfit. Tom Hooper put The Blades ahead early on with a decisive finish after Martin Tyrer put him through with a glorious pass. They defended well despite an impressive Nuts frontline who had scored 26 goals before this match had been played. Two well taken goals pulled the leaders back after Muts Nuts strikers were just too hot to handle. Josh Denning netted his fourth goal of the campaign with a lovely strike to make it 2-2. From then on Muts Nuts really turned the screw and showed their championship mettel going 4-2 up. Keeper Matt Webb was kept busy and even tried to help out the attack on occasions. Josh Hannaford stole the show on his competitive debut with a contender for goal of the season after skinning most of Muts' team he placed a neat shot past the helpless goalie. His attempts were to no avail however as Muts Nuts saw out the game to claim their 2nd consecutive title and promotion. This was a welcome performance for Cronies and caretaker boss Matt Webb. " I was really happy with how the lads battled today. It would have been easy to give up against a team of this calibre after last weeks result, but we gave as good as we got and played some tidy football. In the end we were playing against a team who have stormed this league and are unbeaten. I have to praise the whole team tonight we worked well as a unit, something that has been lacking so far this season."

Young player/manager Billy Rouse has resigned from his managerial role at the club. Rouse has said that "hes sad to step down but needs to concentrate on his playing career as he feels he has been in poor form." Cronies poor form has seen them lose their last 3 matches, with some poor defensive displays.
Goalkeeper Matt Webb has been given the caretaker role and if results go his way it could see him take reign at his beloved Cronies. He said 'its not going to be easy but i feel i can step up and do the job'. There has been speculation of a return for Cronies first ever manager Bill Rouse to return. Rouse guided the Cronies to a runners up medal in he Soccer Spooktackular 2005. |

|
Its still early on in the transfer window but Cronies have already been busy. Keeper Matt Webb has rejected an approach from childhood idols Paris Saint Germain, he commented, "It would have been great to play for a team of such calibre but im dedicated 100% to turning Cronies fortunes around!". Academy prospect Harrison Rogers has had numerous offers tabled for his servies, hometown team Barcelona, AC Milan, Juventus and Brentford have had offers believed to be in the region of £3,500,000 rejected.
Both Michael Benyon and Billy Rouse have rejected the advances of Japanese J-League leaders Gamba Osaka. Turks' Genclerbirligi have layed down a £1.75 million bid for former protege Josh Denning. Denning admitted to The Sun, "It's a tempting offer and an amazing chance to return to my hometown club. I have fond memories from my childhood there and i was born only down the road from their stadium. For the moment at least, my heart is wih the mighty Cronies"
It's turning out to be a family affair at Cronies with Billy Rouse's cousin Liam Rouse set to sign a 4-year contact for Academy side. He was said to be, " Over the moon."
Stay tuned with plenty more transfer action expected before the end of January. |

Cronies FC 4-6 The Misfits
|
Cronies slumped to a disappointing defeat against league newcomers 'The Misfits'. It all started brightly for the All Blacks going into an early lead through experienced defender Danny Rouse. This wasnt to last long though with Misfits storming back and scored twice in quick succession. Michael Benyon notched either side of 2 more Misfits goals on his return to Cronies action after 2 months out with various injuries. At 3-4 Cronies kept pressing and even with influential striker Mark Flay coming on they just coudn't find the back of the net with Dyer in the newcomers goal having a barnstorming game. Misfits sealed the game with clinical finishes either side of Danny Rouse' second goal of the night. Cronies were left to rue missed chances and maybe were lacking their edge after not playing in the indoors league for some time, hopefully they can build on this and go on to better things this year.

Cronies FC 1-2 Alberquerque Isotopes
|
Cronies kicked off 2008 with a bad-tempered defeat to Division 2 leaders Alberquerque Isotopes in their 2nd friendly at St James Soccer Sixes. Featuring several trialists Cronies gave a good account of themselves in a league they hope to be entering. James Wiltshire gave The 'Topes an early lead from a tight angle before Sam Holmes equalised with a powerful effort which went straight through the Alberquerque goalie. The second half was a feisty affair with James Penkethman of the Isotopes tangling with Stuart Tancock. The latter was also inolved with a dust-up with Tom Hooper, Hooper was adjudged to have brought down the front-man and received his marching orders. Amidst the madness Wiltshire managed to fire home his second of the night with a well struck effort. Penkethman then got dismissed himself for a proffessional foul with only minutes remaining.

Cronies 2-7 The Orange Tree
|
Cronies saw a shambolic second half performance ruin their promotion challenge. Cronies started the game suberbly with some quick flowing football and led early on with a suberb finish from Flay into the right top hand corner of the net. Their lead was soon doubled after Rouse found Denning who slotted it home. The Orange Tree tried to find a way back into the game and were denied by an outstanding double save from 'keeper Matt Webb and the third was cleared off the line by Rouse, Cronies surely felt it was going to be their day. Cronies started the second half poorly and after some shocking marking the O's were back in it, they soon equalised and got in front after more poor defensive work. A good goal from the O's made it 4-2 which saw Cronies crumble and concede another 3.
Cronies now lie 5th in the league and have a tough challenge against the unbeaten Muts Nuts. |
|
Cronies 3-0 Taylor Whimpey of Exeter
|
Cronies were handed this win on a plate after Taylor Whimpey failed to show up to the crunch encounter. Instead, Cronies were left pondering where their opponents were and played a training match instead.
Assistant manager Matt Webb was in a defiant mood however," I reckon they were just scared to be honest! Even if they had turned up the kind of mood we were in tonight we would have given them a right spanking!"
Next week Cronies travel to The Orange Tree in what is a pivotal game in how this season goes. |

Cronies FC v Taylor Whimpey of Exeter Preview
|
Cronies go into this Pitch Invasion fixture without winning a game in 5 matches in all competitions. Cronies are back to full strength this week with Billy Rouse returning to the side. Matt Webb, Josh Denning, Martin Tyrer, Mark Flay, Tom Hooper and Dane Regan make up the squad.
Manager Billy Rouse Said "well the boys got a good result last week from what ive heard from my assistant although defensive errors cost us the game. Taylor Whimpey are yet to win this season but we are not going to take them lightly, we need a victory and it must happen tonight!"
Pitch Invasion have predicted a 2-0 win for Cronies. |
|
Cronies FC 3-6 Psycho Strikers
|
| Cronies were always going to find it tough going, but the task was made harder without several key players. Harry Rogers and Danny Rouse were both sick and Billy Rouse had work commitments. Keeper' Matt Webb failed a late fitness test but played anyway. Emergency call-ups to Stewart Tyrer, Tom Burridge and non-contract signing George Robinson made sure that Cronies had a full compliment of players. Cronies started positively with a relatively inexperienced side with debutant Dan Regan starting up front alongside Josh Denning who himself had only played in this league once before. The back pairing of the brothers Tyrer coped well in the early stages against a lively attack but poor marking led to Psycho romping into a 5 goal advantage at the break. With the game seemingly dead and buried Denning and Regan were sacrificed, making way for another debutant, Robinson and 1 game wonder Burridge. Cronies seemed to be rejuvanted after the break with Robinson quickly netting with a neat finish. Martin Tyrer reduced the arrears with a quality effort leaving the keeper clutching air to make it 5-2 and Stewart Tyrer, playing despite a broken rib, finished well to give Cronies hope. It wasn't to be however as, with time running out, Psycho Strikers proved their class with a goal to put the game beyond the All-Blacks reach. |
|
Cronies FC 4-4 Mix Click FC
|
Cronies disappointingly dropped points at the hands of Mix Click FC, in a game they really should have won. The All Blacks stormed into a 2 goal lead courtesy of goals from top scorer Tom Hooper and Mark Flay, with both players finishing well after some exceptional team play from Josh Denning and Dan Regan. Cronies defended well for the opener 10 and were unlucky to concede after some sustained Click pressure. After the arrival of Martin Tyrer into the fray, Cronies looked to step it up a notch but were undone by the pace of MCFC and goal tender Matt Webb was left badly exposed as they equalised.
Cronies huffed and puffed for most of the second half but were never able to find the break through and were often undone on the counter, only the heroics of Webb in goal prevented them from falling behind. Late on however, their toil was rewarded and they struck gold with Martin Tyrer blasting them back into lead and then again only minutes later, seemingly the game was wrapped up and with minutes remaining Cronies looked on course for their 2nd 3 pointer of the season. However it all turned sour, Regan came back on and within seconds some dodgy passing led to Mix Click pulling a goal back. Cronies should have seen the game out and were left kicking themselves in the head after Mix Click scored a controversial late leveller only moments later. After a 50/50 which 'keeper Matt Webb easily cleared, he was scythed down by a poor challenge by the Click forward, with the keeper laying prostate on the floor and out of the action the oppostion side footed home into the un-guarded net.
Hero Matt Webb had this to say after that debacle, " I don't know how the ref is going to sleep tonight, it feels like christmas has been cancelled, he's stolen 2 points from under our christmas tree and handed it to the other team with a pink ribbon on it" he also remarked, "Pfft...Huff...Absolute dogwank".

Cronies FC 3-7 Inter Beehindhaven
|
Cronies suffered a dissapointing defeat at the hands of Inter Beehindhaven.
Cronies were without goalkeeper Matt Webb who failed to turn to the game. This meant that spectator Liam Roast had to come in for him and pull of a stunt in goal without any gloves. Despite Cronies effort's they were well beaten by Inter although manager Billy Rouse said that he was proud of all of the lads for putting in a performance which deserved more than it got. Cronies goals came from Martin Tyrer and Mark flay (2).
The lads played extremely well tonight and i was proud of the work rate of academy stars Tyrer & Rogers and also the finishing of Flay. Finally i would like to thank former player Liam Roast for stepping in for us."

Cronies slumped to their first defeat in the 2nd game of the Pitch Invasion season. On a tricky pitch Cronies were on the back foot from the off with some poor marking leading to Brazil Nuts taken a commanding lead. At 3 goals down Cronies changed goal guarders with Billy Rouse taking the place of Matt Webb who inspired Cronies to restore a little pride and make it 3-1 throught Mark Flay. Despite this the 2nd half started the same as the first with Nuts' romping to the finish line against a lacklustre and frustrated side who will need to drastically improve if they stand any chance of progressing in this league. Danny Rouse got a consolation near the end with a blockbuster shot but nothing could lighten spirits on a dark night at Isca.

The Faces stole the headlines this weekend with a priceless victory over title chasing rivals Cronies FC.
The faces took the league early on after some sloppy defensive work but were soon pegged back after a pinpoint pass from new signing Ross Tremewan picked out Martin Tyrer. After a string of chances for both sides the score was level at half time. Cronies started the brighter of the two, kepping the ball and creating the odd chance. A great save from Matt Webb urged Billy Rouse to tell his team to keep the ball and settle for a draw. Cronies wanted more though and went for the goal but were punished on the counter attack. Two glorious chances were gifted to veteran Danny Rouse but he culdnt find the back of the net before The Faces got their third. The game was somewhat overshadowed by Billy Rouse's attempted stomp on the Faces' 'keeper leading him to react and kick Rouse, which saw tempers really start to flare.
Billy Rouse is awaiting to hear if any disciplinary action will be taken against him by the F.A.

Cronies Steal The Show At Season Opener
|
Cronies FC comprehensive swept their opponents away in their first ever match in the Pitch Invasion Monday Night League. Despite playing on a tricky artificial pitch in wet conditions Tom Hooper quickly opened the scoring with a neat finish. Josh Denning netted a 2nd soon after with Cronies playing some slick football. Hooper snatched a 3rd before Cronies were pegged back after 'keeper Matt Webb conceded an indirect free-kick for kicking the ball, the referee then obstructed Niall Martin's attempted challenge allowing the Wesupply attacker to fire home to give their a chink of hope. Late squad inclusion Niall Martin made it four to the good before the interval. Cronies made a slow start to the 2nd period with the slippery surface playing it's part, althought this didn't stop Martin nabbing his 2nd with a rifled shot low into the net. The All-Blacks really laid on the style with Goalie Matt Webb even joining in on the fun with a couple of mazy runs befuddling the Wesupply backline although the end product was lacking on both occasions. It could be said at this stage Cronies took their foot off the pedal and maybe needed to pass a bit more at critical moments, but nothing can take the gloss off this polished display. J Dizzle did the bizzle for his brace, even though he could have had a hat-trick if it wasnt for a tricky spurned opportunity, Dan Regan left the goalkeeper floundering with a top-bin effort from a indirect free-kick assisted by Billy Rouse and Hooper rounded things off with a smart finish which completed his hat trick. Even though he didn't score Mark Flay had an impressive all-round performance, the same could be said for Billy Rouse's courageous display, he was like a pacemaker in an old-man, remove him and all could fall apart with his tidy organisational skills, Matt Webb led from the back with a courageous display although it could be said he did'nt have much to do. An all round encouraging start for the youngsters but they will face tougher opponents this season and must keep on their toes.

Ahead of tonight's season opener at Isca, Dan Regan had this to say about the recent takeover of his team,
"I would just like to thank all the lads from Cronies FC, for joining and converting We'll Settle For A Draw AFC, last year wasn't a good season, the squad seemed uncommitted and really just didn't want to be there. But the new lads have joined at a drop of a hat and i'm truly grateful. I'm hoping for a big improvement this season with promotion or to even win the league. Let's hope it's a good one!"
There are still a few uncertainties for this evening's match but Dan Regan, Matt Webb, Tom Hooper, Billy Rouse, Josh Denning, Mark Flay are set to play with Harry Rogers, Danny Rouse and Liam Ashmore undecided. Martin Tyrer has been ruled out of tonights fixture with an illness.

In their 2nd friendly match of the night Cronies tired against a lively Faces team. Cronies took a deserved early lead through man of the night Tom Hooper but were quickly pegged back after some lacklustre defending, and quickly snatched a second. Hooper then dragged a penalty wide after their keeper had come out of his area. Matt Webb then sustained a knee injury not long after which meant he had to replace custodian Billy Rouse in goal for the 2nd half. The tempo of the match slowed down in the 2nd period and the match really looked like a friendly. Martin Tyrer finally scored after missing a hatful of chances and Billy Rouse missed Cronies 2nd penalty of the night after their keeper misfielded again. The Faces then wrapped up the match with a 3rd goal late on.

Cronies FC 8-2 Proper BO FC
|
Due to the Crones FC vs Team Handsome match being postponed and the Proper BO FC vs Bad Boys also cancelled, the league arranged a friendly between the sides. Proper BO kept their usual 6 players as Cronies mixed things up a little. Goalkeeper Matt Webb played outfield, swapping positions with Rouse who went the sticks and there was also a recall for co club founder Tom Hooper.
Cronies started the game brightly creating alot of chances just not the finding the back of the net. Then the breakthrough came Webb's delicious through ball found Hooper with a delightful finish. They Then made it two with a smart finish from top scorer Martin Tyrer. Proper BO got back in the game despite some good saves from stand in keeper Billy Rouse. In the second half Cronies ripped Proper BO to pieces with Hooper + Tyrer completing their hatricks. Proper BO got a consulation goal before Webb scored an unlikely goal and Hooper rounded off his return with his fourth. There was also a good game for stand in Centre half Mark Flay as Cronies cruised to victory.

Cronies FC 3-6 Psycho Strikers
|
| Cronies lost a match in which they were always going to struggle inon Saturday night against a Pyscho Strikers team who are favourites for the league table. Cronies fielded yet another debutant Josh Denning as they struggled to make 5 players, but they started the brighter of the 2 teams and took an early lead through Danny Rouse. They were quickly pagged back however but parity was restored as Denning notched on his debut to make it 2-1. Things suddenly took a turn for a worse after that and even the return of prodigal son Liam Roast couldn't stop the onslaught from The Strikers. Cronies went into the break trailing 3-2 but that was as good as things got as Psycho scored 2 more to give themselves a 3 goal cushion. It was always going to be a tall order to come back from that but they gave it their best shot with Billy Rouse notching. Pyscho then took advantage of more poor marking to make it 6-3 to round it off. |
|
Cronies FC 5-1 Red Express
|
Cronies put in a polished performance against a clearly lacklustre Red Express side as they demolished them 5-1. An own goal assisted by Rouse put the All Blacks ahead before Martin Tyrer cleverly finished with a tidy effort. Billy Rouse cleverly added a third with spectacular drive from the half-way line to put the hosts three goals to the good at the interval. Cronies took their foot off the pedal in the 2nd half and allowed Express a sniff of a comeback with a controversial effort which was disputed to be in the area. This proved only to be a consolation effort for The Reds as Cronies pumped up the gas and Tyrer completed his brace with is 11th goal in 4 games, finally Danny Rouse finshed off the rout with a expertly taken goal which brought back memories of his former self. In all honesty Cronies should have destroyed their poor opposition but only sloppy finishing and dodgy refereeing prevented them from turning this into a rugby scoreline. After drawing on the last two outings against Red Express this was Cronies first ever win versus this team.

Cronies FC 3-5 Proper Bo FC
|
Cronies title hopes were dashed after a humiliating second half collapse at the hands of Proper Bo. Things started off rosily for the youngsters as they stormed into a 2-0 lead courtesy of Billy Rouse and a wonder goal from Danny Rouse. Cronies held the 2 goal advantage leading into the interval after having the majority of attacking play in the first period. Unfortunately they couldn't pick things up from where they left off and some slack defending let Proper Bo claw themselves back into the reckoning. At 3-2 down CFC bought on Benyon for his first appearance of the season but he could not stop another PBFC goal. Benyon then got a goal himself to give the team a chink of hope in an otherwise dismal 2nd half showing. In search of an equaliser Cronies threw themselves forward but that left them exposed at the back and despite making some excellent saves Matt Webb was unable to prevent a fifth Proper Bo goal which sealed the deal.
This performance shows that the young team are still a long way off becoming serious title contenders as they showed their relative inexperience at this level. Inevitably this will come after more games and hopefully they can get back on track for the visit of Red Express in what promises to be a game with plenty of fireworks with the added incentive of it being shown live on Setanta. |

Ryan Clarke Suffers Huge Blow
|
Ryan Clarke has had a devastating injury which has left friends and family horrified. It happened this weekend playing for his club Pinhoe Spartans, Ryan Clarke saw the ball break free and went in for the challenge as did a St.Martins player, it was a 50/50 but as the players collided with each other, a tragic event happened, a snap was heard, then screaming, Ryan Clarke had broke his leg in two places and was in astonishing pain. An eyewitness report says that the St.Martins player went in way too hard in what was suppose to be a 'Friendly Match'. Ryan Clarke is now heartbroken at the fact that the youngster will be out of action for at least 8 months. He is currently undergoing treatment at Wonford hospital and is set to have his second operation early tomorrow morning. Heartfelt sympathy from Cronies first team manager Billy Rouse and academy manager Matt Webb as they heard what had happened to this talented player. Some Cronies players are putting together some money to buy Ryan Clarke a present to make him feel better, he is set to be sent home from hospital on Thursday night and his friends and family are set to help him through this hard time.

|
Cronies FC 18-2 Silver Bullet
|
Cronies took full advantage of a very lacklusture defence as they blitzed Silver Bullet 18-2. Goals from Tyrer (7), D.Rouse (3), Flay (3), Rogers (2), B.Rouse (2) and an own goal secured the victory. In parts Cronies showed some magical football and showed why they are title contenders. Fans are raving the return of D.Rouse after hes hit 5 goals in 2 appearances and also youth product Tyrer as he has been in suberb form since his return.
In tonights other games Pyscho Strikers demolished Red Express 5-1 and The Faces beat Proper BO FC 5-3 who had Tyrer and B.Rouse in their lineup as they had players missing. Tyrer scored and Rouse got an assist as they both impressed. |

|
|
Cronies FC could consider themselves unfortunate to lose by such a big margin as they really took the game to their top class opponents. It would prove to be Bad Boys last competitive fixture in the Clifton Hill 5 a-side League as after the match they announced their withdrawal from the league.
The match started off at a lightning pace with Bad Boys seizing the iniative taking the lead after some sloppy keeping from Webb. Cronies kept battling though and they trailed 5-3 at the break through goals from comeback king Danny Rouse, Billy Rouse and Martin Tyrer. The 2nd half picked up where the 1st left off with both teams attacking vigourously with Cronies goalie Webb pulling off some fine saves in between the sticks. Some good team play from Cronies gave themselves a sniff of maybe grabbing the points but in the end Bad Boys title winning class just shone through. Overall the team can take several positives from this display including a promising debut from 17 year-old Tom Burridge making his football comeback and another fine display from Rouse Jnr, Tyrer Jnr and Webb. Danny Rouse also put in a polished display and really showed that he's the experience that the team has maybe lacked this season. |

If you were left reeling by the departure of Martin Tyrer god knows how you will cope with this bombshell. Liam Roast has packed his bags and left the club. He told a packed press conference earlier this evening that he had grown 'Bored' with life at the Cronies FC. Club Officials deny any link between Roast's departure and his link with a shoplifting case earlier today. Due to on-going police enquiries the club can make no further comment on the matter.

Cronies Rocked By Tyrer Jnr. Departure
|
Cronies FC have been stunned with the shock departure of Academy starlet Martin Tyrer. Things had just started to look good for Tyrer, 14, as he had regained his First Team place with a string of commanding performances which belied his tender years. His agent, George Tyrer had this to say at an earlier press conference, "Well basically i feel that Cronies FC is affecting his performances and i feel it wise to pull him out of action." George Tyrer has already played a part in the withdrawal of Stewart Tyrer, 16, from 5-aside action while he is playin for Exeter College Academy.
Rumour has it that Danny Rouse will once again step in to fill the void left by the younger of the of the Tyrer brothers. Only time will tell if this affects Cronies Uefa Cup ambitions. |

Cronies FC 3-1 Inter Beehindoven
|
29th September 2007, 23:32
Cronies got back on form with an impressing victory over inter. Cronies started the game very well, using the ball to their advantage and creating lots of chances. Cronies took the lead after a freat solo effort from Michael Benyon. Cronies then doubled their lead with Benyon doubling his tally with a similar goal. Cronies football continued with chances for Harry Rogers and Martin Tyrer before Inter pulled one back. The 2 goal lead was restored with Webb finding Rogers, who found Rouse picked out a nice ball for Tyrer to finish.
This win means that in the last 9 games Cronies have: won 5, drew 1, lost 3.

Insiders say that the club has offered a trial to former Real Broadclyst player James Ginn. Ginn, 16, who plays in midfield, may play in tomorrow's end of season clash with Inter Beehindhoven. |

24th September 2007, 18:49
Cronies youth product Ryan Smales, 14, has today said he has left the club.
The player who signed in late August has left already after not progressing into the first team. This is a shame for the club and Ryan himself as he was going to be pushed into the first team this week. With Smales leaving this opens a gateway to sucess for other youth keeper Sam Toghill, also 14, who will now be expected to be in the squad this week against Inter Beehindoven.

Academy Boss Praises Set-Up
|
23rd September 2007, 23:01
Academy boss Matt Webb has hailed the club's youth policy as 'One Of The Best In The Country' after Saturday nights game against The Faces. Despite a 5-0 reverse there were a promising displays from Martin Tyrer and Harrison Rogers making his debut. Tyrer has been earning some rave reviews for Cronies even though he has just returned to the club. 'It is important to nurture the youth players into the first team despite their tender age' Webb stated at the press conference, 'They could be the future to this club.' Both he and First Team Boss Billy Rouse are happy to include the youngsters in the team with the encouraging displays they are giving. 'I feel it is especially important to make sure the youngsters are comfortable playing in the men's team as over the course of the season some of the experienced members of the squad may become unavailable due to Saturday afternoon matches and the Academy players may need to step in and bridge the gap.' |

Rouse Impressed With Youngsters
|
In a post match interview Manager Billy Rouse declared he was very impressed with Academy products Martin Tyrer and Harry Rogers.
"It was a dissapointing result but i was very impressed with Martin and Harry and they will both start next week"
|
|
|
|
Cronies suffered there 3rd defeat of the season in a dissapointing performance.
Cronies were without Michael Benyon, Chris Milum and Stewart Tyrer and never looked like scoring a goal. The first half started off slowly with Cronies creating some good moves but lacked an end product. After some good defending by Billy Rouse, Martin Tyrer and 'Keeper Matt Webb Cronies kept it at 0-0. In the second half Cronies pushed forward more with Liam Roast and Martin Tyrer coming close. As Cronies stepped up the pressure they were caught with 2 lucky goals and then went onto concede a further 3 as they were punished on the break. Harry Rogers made an impressive debut for the club after replacing striker Mark Flay.
Cronies lacked any real spark and will be hoping to get back on track with a victory over Inter Beehindoven next week in a 6:45 kick off. |

Academy Boss Matt Webb and Manager Billy Rouse are in talks about the proposed step up for Rogers.
Rogers, 13, currently playing in the Academy side has been tipped for the call-up after hearing news of new signing Chris Milum's injury. |

Cronies Lose Milum To Injury
|
Cronies FC have been left cursing their luck after losing new signing Chris Milum to injury.
Milum, 16, has been carrying his knee injury since he joined the club. A late horror challenge at a Beacon Knights training session from ECFA's Tarik Kenan looks to have put him out for sometime.
Milum had been in great form for the Cronies but now faces atleast two weeks out. |

White Sox 3-16 Cronies FC
|
15th September 2007 , 23:23
Cronies were always going to win this match as White Sox only turned up with 4 players. Never the less Cronies football was some what magical with Stewart Tyrer putting Cronies 3-0 up after 6 minutes. Billy Rouse then added the fourth with a nice left footed effort. Stewart made it 5 before whit sox pulled one back. Rouse then added the sixth with a very cheaky goal as he chipped it over the keeper. In the second half Cronies changed the team around with Roast and Tyrer Jnr replacing Milum and Benyon. Tyrer added another 4 to take his tally to eight for the night, then secured a place in goal in which he conceded straight away. Tyrer Jnr added 2 goals before pulling a stunt off in goal as he also conceded. Roast and Tyrer added doubles to take the tally to 16.
Stewart Tyrer set a new Cronies FC record by scoring the most goals in one match, 10. |

Players Could Miss Crunch Game
|
4th September 2007 , 11:42
This weekend sees Cronies Fc take on Team Handsome in a 6:45pm kick off.
Cronies Players Billy Rouse, Matt Webb, Liam Roast, Chris Milum and Mark Flay could all miss the game. The five are scheduled to play in a cup match for Beacon Knights 2nds away against Lapford 2nds which kicks off at 4pm.
This means with Stewart Tyrer being banned from the side, the only senior member of the side will be Michael Benyon. Call ups for Academy players Ryan Smales, Martin Tyrer and Harry Rogers are very likely. |

After Tyrer's outstanding performance against Psycho Strikers last saturday, the striker is being banned from playing for the club during his time at Exeter College Football Academy. The news comes after Tyrer picked up a knock in the dying moments of the game and the College have banned him playing for any other club except theres.
Player/Manager Billy Rouse said "Im dissapointed that Tyrer cannot play anymore but im hopeful the depth of our squad can cope with his loss, and i wish him all the best at the College side." |

Cronies FC 3-2 Psycho Strikers
|
2nd September 2007 , 23:07
Cronies picked up there best result of the season last night against high-flying Psycho Strikers. Cronies seemed to play the game in a different style this week using a very slow tempo making there opponents work for the ball and with this the first half created few chances and finished 0-0. In the second half the game became more open with the Cronies creating chances through Flay, Roast and Benyon with Webb making some good stops in the Cronies goal. Psycho Strikers took the lead 5 minutes into the second half and with this Cronies made the sub, Tyrer for Flay. Tyrer's introduction seemed to spark more attacking football into the side and it was his run which set up Roast for the equaliser. A moment of brilliance from Tyrer saw the Cronies take the lead. Tyrer then had the chance to make it 3 but struct wide and Pyscho Strikers got the equaliser. In the last moments a crafty free kick from Milum put Roast through and cool finish saw Cronies re-take the lead and hold out for the win. |

Cronies managed to thrash out a draw against old foes Red Express last weekend even with a heavily depleted squad. Cronies started the match with only 4 players on the pitch with several players not being able to make kick-off. But the team got off to a flier to take a 1-0 lead after some stagnant Reds' defending through Michael Benyon. But the lead was short lived and the opposition struck back to take a 2-1 lead. With 10 minutes gone Chris Milum appeared to make his debut and Cronies were back up the full compliment of players. The Blacks' went in to half-time trailing 4-2 with Liam Roast scoring the other goal. The team rallied hard in the second half to pull back the deposit and they were aided by some lapsidaisical defending on behalf of Red Express. Further goals were added by Roast and Flay to restore parity but Express scored a break-away goal to make it 5-4. Benyon added his second of the match though to peg the scores back to 5-5 for the second successive games against Red Express. The team rallied hard and fully deserved the point. |

Cronies Laugh Their Way To Victory
|
12th August 2007, 22:35
Cronies FC 6-2 Silver Bullet
Cronies FC got back to winning ways with a crucial victory over struggling premier division outfit Silver Bullet.
Billy Rouse gave us an lead midway through the first half with a cheeky free-kick, but The Hoops almost immediately struck back with a break away goal. We re-took the lead through a Tyrer effort after Hooper had had a goal disallowed, but once again Bullet struck back to bring parity once again. Tyrer gave us the lead for a third time but after this it was all one way traffic with Silver Bullet never really threatening even with Cronies playing some diabolical football. Subsitute Liam Stirzaker doubled the advantage with a smartly taken goal. After this all hell broke loose with the clearly pumped-up subsitute Michael Benyon charging into Silver Bullets number 27. A few minutes later in his own corner Benyon was brutally kicked by No. 27 and reacted angrily to this clear act of thuggery by squaring up to him with the number 27 pushing Benyon before the pair were separated. Eye witnesseses claim that Paul Diamond of Silver Bullet lashed out at one of our players but thankfully missed. With both players escaping un-punished the game lost all the competitive edge with the Cronies pissing about. Michael Benyon helped make up for his brutal actions by playing a part in our 5th goal scored by Tyrer and infact notching the final goal himself. Only time will tell if Benyon faces any internal disciplinary actions after this match and he may be brought before the F.A. disciplinary panel. |

Academy Boss Delving Into Market
|
6th August 2007, 00:27
Youth Academy boss Matt Webb is looking to bolster his ranks with at least two fresh faces between now and the end of the transfer window.
Goalkeeper Ryan Smales may be 1 of the two and the club will be looking to seal the deal within the next few days.
According to reports he is also interested in signing young striker Jamie Mickelright. His increasing scouting network has identified the player as a decent signing and quite possibly the best thing since sliced bread. "He's someone who could really make our team tick" expressed Webb, but 1 potential stumbling block could be the forward's desire to leave current 5 a-side team BBA.
We will keep you updated on any developments. |

Bad Boys 7 - 2 Cronies FC
|
5th August 23:32
Bad Boys 7 - 2 Cronies FC
Bad Boys went 1-0 up after a well worked moved was finished off in style with an emphatic finish. They then made it 2-0 with another well worked goal. Cronies weren't out of the game they just couldn't find the back of the net with two one on ones missed by Niall Martin and Mark Flay. Bad Boys third was a lucky one after shooting wide it rebounded off Cronies keeper, Matt Webb, to make it 3-0. Cronies pegged back with a well worked goal, as Billy Rouse megged the onrushing defender and picked out Mark Flay for the finish. Cronies then had another half chance with Flay missing a volley as Bad Boys went on to make it 4-1.
The second half started the same as the first with Cronies conceding 2 well worked goals, with substitutes Stewart Tyrer, Tom Hooper and Liam Stirzaker unable to stop the goals. Cronies then began to work opportunities with Stewart Tyrer hitting the crossbar and having a shot well saved. Tyrer then got his deserved goal after great work in the corner ending with a exquisite finish. A great through ball from Tom Hooper set up Tyrer but he struck wide with Stirzaker missing the rebound. In the last moments Bad Boys grabbed the seventh and showed why they are title challengers. |
