1) Outline of Enter the Matrix FAQ

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Purpose for writing this FAQ for Enter the Matrix is to provide a good walkthrough

for people who need help with this game. When I first bought Enter the Matrix off of

eBay, I was stuck on “The Abyss” level. I went to GameFAQs for help, but the Walkthroughs

for the game were hard to follow. I intend to change this.

Enter the Matrix itself is what hardcore “Matrix” fans dream of. It helps make

sense of “Reloaded” and the extra footage shot by the Wachowski brothers is to

die for.

The standard control scheme for a DualShock 2 controller is as follows:

Walking/Running/Shooting Controls:

Left Analog Stick- Move forward/back; Turn right/left. When facing an obstacle

(Wall, box, etc.)tap forward to have Niobe or Ghost press their backs against it.

Use to look in first-person or sniper mode.

Right Analog Stick- Enter/Exit first-person mode.

Right Directional Button- Next primary weapon.

Left Directional Button- Previous primary weapon.

Square- Action, holster weapon, strangle enemy, open/close door, etc.

Triangle- Throw grenade, flashbang, etc.

X button- Jump

L1- Focus. Press and hold for Matrix stunts.

R1- Fire primary weapon; unholster selected weapon.

L2/R2- Strafe left/right.

Start: Pause game.

Select: Weapon selection menu.

Hand-to-Hand Combat Controls:

Square- Defend; block; counter

Triangle- Punch

Circle- Kick.

Circle & Triangle- Throw

Driving Controls for Niobe (and Ghost in one level):

Left analog stick/directional buttons- Steer.

X- Accelerate

Square- Brake.

R1- Emergency brake.

R2/L2- Look right/left/behind.

Triangle- Toggle between first/third-person views.

L1- Make Ghost assist (lean out of car and shoot at pursuers).

Riding Shotgun (for Ghost):

Left analog stick- Aim weapon

R1- Fire primary weapon.

2) Weapons

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Enter the Matrix has lots of weapons. No, wait. That would underscore the fact that

it has a ton of pistols, rifles, shotguns, grenades, submachine guns and much more.

Each one has its own capabilities, accuracy, range, rate of fire, and real-life

counterparts.

Here’s a few, but not all, listed on a scale of *-*****, with ***** being the best:

4) A. Walkthrough: Niobe
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
POST OFFICE:

Closing Time-
After you watch the short movie explaining why you are in the Matrix, you’ll wind
up in the lobby of a post office at closing time. A few security guards patrol the area, but
they should not suspect you unless you draw a weapon. Follow the arrow on top of your screen to
the P.O. Box room.

Sparks will tell you to try the elevator, so walk past the security desk to
the elevator (the big silver door) and press action (Square). Another cutscene will follow, telling
you to find the freight elevator in the back of the main sorting area.

Dispatch the security guards who come at you from the door next to the
elevator (they are unarmed and they never use their batons) and make your way to the men’s bathroom.

Behind the Scenes-
After yet another cutscene, you’ll drop down into the men’s locker-room showers. You can listen to
the employees’ odd conversation until you walk into their line of sight. If you attack the postal
workers, they will yell for help, causing a security guard to come rushing to their aid.

If necessary, dispose of the guard and go through the doorway where your arrow is pointing and
enter a hallway. Turn left, then right at the corner and delivers a punch or kick to the employees
to send a security guard with a .38. Disarm him by pressing action (square) and equip his gun.
It is less powerful and extremely inaccurate, but you should be saving the bullets in your
other handgun for when you need them.

Go through the door and into the sorting area. Mail-sorting machines occupy most of this area.
Two employees will yell for help as soon as you enter when if you don’t have a pistol drawn. Knock
the guards out, but try not to use your pistol yet. Follow the arrow and dispose of any security
guards on your way. (Fun Fact: Try using Focus moves to get the feel of them. Running along
walls and forwarding machines and confuse guards. If you Focus while just starting to run
along a wall, press circle to deliver a skull crushing blow to your opponents.) Eventually
you should reach a window. Either kick through it or focus dive (L1 + X) through it and
press the big, red, flashing button. (Duh.) Back track through the window and follow the arrow
to the now open shutter door and dispose of the guards with hand-to-hand combat. Turn to the left
of the shutter door and open the door.

Turn to the left and kill the guard that is rushing out to meet you. (Fun Fact: Notice that the
employees at the desks don’t react to anything you do.) Run past the desks and knock-out the
other guard. Keep going past the glass partitions and pick up the Medical Kit if you need it.
(If you follow this walkthrough correctly, you should never need them.) Turn and walk through
the open door, then turn left and follow the hallway to the last door on the right and press
action (Square).

Ignore you arrow for a few seconds and turn to the right hallway. The employees will call
for the security, causing two unarmed guards to rush you from the hallway you just came
from. Eliminate them, and then follow your arrow to the cubicle ahead. Stop shot of it, and
then turn left. Two guards will, yet again, come at you. Disarm the one with the .380 (square),
and then kill the other one. If you haven’t used your ammunition yet, you should have 7+7 for your
duel .380’s, and 12 of the 9000 S. Head towards the door on your left and walk through it.

Turn to your right and walk down the hallway about half way, but stay next to the wall on the
left. Stop half way and wait for the sentry to come at you. When he does, stay still, focus (L1),
and kick (circle). You should launch your wall kick, as described three paragraphs above. Go left
at the turn and open the first door on the right.

Epicenter-
Climb over the fence just like you would climb the ladder. Run forward and turn
left past the civilian. Kill the guard who has the pistol and take it. Turn around and follow
your arrow to the corner, where you take a left. Go to the end of the alley, go around
the mail-sorting machine, and then make a left. Focus-Dive (L1+left analog stick forward+X)
towards to guards by the elevator while emptying both clips of your duel .380 pistols,
but don’t use more then seven bullets per pistol. If the sentries aren’t already dead, use some
kung-fu. Backtrack to kill the guard who is shooting at you from behind the pillar, and then kill
the guard behind the fence for his ammo. Go back to where your arrow is pointing and run into the
shutter door.

Unexpected Arrival-
As soon as the cutscene ends, you’ll find yourself face-to-face with cops.
Caught off-guard, they need a few seconds to prepare for a fight.  About four of them will
run into the next corridor, but two will stay to fight. Kill the two that remain by
any means necessary, but disarm moves (square) are more effective. If you haven’t all ready,
go back to the table by the elevator and pick up the .380 ammo and the SMG (See Section 2)
 B. Rifles: SMG), and then continue into the hall where the police fled.

As soon as you round the corner, one of the four will drive a heavy forklift at you. The
best method is to Focus-Dive (L1+left analog stick forward+X) and start emptying your .380’s
at them. Normally you can kill one or two in this fashion and still have some bullets left for
later. The rest of the surviving guards can be killed with kung-fu.
Proceed into the next corridor. There is a ton of boxes that you and the cops can use as cover.
Kill the first cop that comes around, take his pistol and take cover behind a crate (tap forward
twice). Once you have crouched behind a box, press R1 to-while crouching-fire at the law enforcement.
Once you have dropped all of the cops, kill the other two after turning the corner. Before turning
the next corner, take the Medical Kit if you need it. (Remember, no matter how tempting it
is, DO NOT USE YOUR SMG YET.)

The next hall has about five more cops. Again, you can use the boxes as cover,
but I still like to save ammo by using focus moves. After they are dead, wait in
the hallway for your health and focus to build back up. Once they are each 100%, walk
through the archway in the chain-link fence.

A cop with a gas-mask will throw a tear-gas cartage. WARNING: this will deplete your
health fast if you fall on the ground. Focus jump across the gap of the shelves to your
right of the starting point. Follow your arrow across the vent, but you should try to focus
jump again over it, because it will break if you walk across it, sending you plummeting to
the tear-gas filled floor below. Don’t try to kill the cops, because they shouldn’t be
a problem. Jump on the skylight to complete the level.

Redirected-
Wait for your focus bar and health to refill before entering the next room.
Kill the cop before he can take out his pistol, and use focused-kung-fu to take down
the other two. Follow your arrow to the next room, which four cops will start shooting
at you from behind a chain-link fence. Finally, take out your SMG and use about one shot
per cop. After they are dead, go the table for the two .380 pistols, then climb over the
fence and collect the 92FS’s that the cops dropped. (See Section 2) A. Pistols: 92FS.)

Climb back over the fence and make your way to the end of the area and turn right and run to the
door.

After the cutscene, follow your arrow the fence ahead of you and climb it. Kill the
guard behind the shelf before he has time to draw a weapon.  Make your way around the
selves, killing anybody that you met with kung-fu. Eventually you will come to a half-open
shutter-door.

5) Frequently Asked Questions
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Does it matter which character I choose?
A: Yes and no. While both Niobe and Ghost posses the same skills, and some of their
missions are the same, they each may do different missions or play a different part in a level.
For instance, while Niobe drives, Ghost snipes.

Q: Sometimes my game has a glitch in the sound on some cutscenes. What is this caused by
and how do I get rid of it?
A: I have the same problem. The glitch might be caused by holding focus before a cutscene,
so simply letting go of focus before the cutscene starts my stop it from happening.

Q: How do I get the gun that Agents use?
A: The only way to grab a .50AE is to kill an Agent with a grenade of GP-25.

Q: Why can’t I play Neo, Trinity or Morpheus?
A: The developers of Enter the Matrix probably thought that being Neo would be too easy.
Playing as Niobe or Ghost also revels more about The Matrix: Reloaded.

Q: I can’t kill Vlad with the sword. After Vlad gets dizzy, I try to kill him, but he won’t die.
Why is this?
A: This is simply a glitch. To avoid it, don’t activate the sword before you go to his level.

Q: Every time I start Agent on Board with Niobe, a bomb appears before Axel, killing him. Why is this?
A: When ever you cheat for that level, a grenade always appears. It’s there to discourage
you not to cheat and take the easy way out (you freakin’ cheat).
