Crich Brass was the brain child of Derek Swindell when he came back to live in Crich. His idea was to get ex and present day bandsmen from the local area together for a blow. He sent out letters to several players and this resulted in a meeting. The landlady of The Kings Arms in Crich offered us the use of the function room. On Tuesday 12th June 2001 three players attended, two Cornets and one Tenor Horn, a somewhat limiting combination but it was enjoyable, giving us a taste for more. From this humble start we continued and now can produce from a four to sixteen piece ensemble. Crich Brass made its official debut at Crich Carnival 2002 and held its first official meeting in January 2003. Since then the band have slowly improved and are going from strength to strength and hope to be around for a good few years, so watch this space, the future could be BRIGHT BRASS. |
