We say goodbye to our long time barn kitty Peppy.

On 12/26/08 after displaying deteriorating neurlogical problems we sadly had to have Peppy, our barn kitty, humanely euthanized after consulting with our vet. She was the barn's official greeter because as soon as she heard voices up at the barn she would be seen high tailing it up there to find a parent or lesson student's lap to sit and purr on. She was with us for 13 years and she will be sorely missed around here. We brought her home to be buried here at the farm.

Bob gets a new home.

Our 18 hand Percheron gelding Bob got a new home this November after we decided he needed someone who would do something with him besides have him as just a pasture ornament. We brought Bob here 8 years ago as a rescue but we did not have a job for him. The Randal Clifton family asked if they could have him as they were looking for a well behaved draft horse to ride and eventually drive. We delivered him to their 40 acre farm where he met his pasture mate and preceeded to chow down on a big round hay bale that matched his appetite! He is a spoiled happy guy.

2008 Fall Fun Show - November 2

We could not have had better weather for our farm's Annual Fall Fun Show. We had a record 29 lesson students participate. We had a good crowd of spectators to cheer the kids on. We also were able to raise some donations for the Equine Rescue League of Southern Indiana. Many thanks to the volunteers who made it possible. Pansy, the haflinger that we had for sale, got a new home with one of our lesson students, Katie. Katie rode her in the fun show. It was a great day for all. Things will now slow down quite a bit in winter and the horses will get a bit of a breather until the spring session starts back up in March.

We have much to be thankful for. The winds of the hurricane did not do any major damgage here, some trees down but they did not fall on anything. The weather has been beautiful for riding. Our fall session is well under way with this session being full. We have a record number of lesson students signed up for the Fall Fun Show so lets pray for good weather and prepare to have fun! The Haflinger, Pansey, is fast becoming a favorite of both lesson students and parents. She is suppose to be for sale, I guess we will see what happens as she is a great horse.

Our 2008 fall riding session will start up the first week of August and continue through the end of October, culminating with our 2008 fall fun show. This is a popular session and usually fills up. With the continuing escalation of fuel prices driving everything through the roof we truly appreciate all of our patrons. I hope and pray that things improve in the future. Well, get on out there and ride!

Well, with skyrocketing fuel prices it is affecting the cost of just about everything to do with horses. We have made it through this winter and welcomed spring. We have added many new faces to our lesson program this spring and all have done very well. We have been very proud of the progress these kids have made and the continuing progress of our long time lesson students. With the summer session beginning we are welcoming even more new students to our farm. We are blessed the good Lord continues to send us such great families. Let's get out there and ride while the weather is good!!!

2007 Fall Session ending....

Posted by crfarm at 02:10 PM on October 23, 2007 Comments comments (0)
The 2007 Fall Session is ending with the Lesson Student Fun Show on Oct. 27. We will start back up with the 2008 Spring Session in March. We will be sending out updated information for 2008 to all current lesson students in February, so be looking for it then. It has been a very tough year for horses and their owners with the drought and high hay prices. Sadly, many nice horses did not make it through 2007 and were sent to slaughter due to the lack of pasture and high hay prices. Let's pray for better weather for 2008 and better times for our horses!
