Phantom Manor

You are listening to the full ride of phantom manor
Disney has four dark rides, one of  them is the French phantom manor.
All haunted mansions or phantom manors throughout the world are placed in different "lands"
Phantom Manor is located in frontierland, which is a part of the entire frontierland story.(see mythology below)
The attraction is different from the original haunted mansion in a couple of ways:
The first thing you notice is the exterior, it actually looks(unlike the other haunted mansions) like an old haunted house, but because it's Disney we are talking about here, this has a good reason.(and it's not cheap maintenance like some people say.)
I was told by a former pm cast member, that the reason they changed this concept was because of al the different nationalities that visit Disneyland Paris.
In America, every one speaks, or understands English, so a big sign that says HAUNTED MANSION should do the trick. But in Paris not everyone would understand those words, so the building had to speak for it self.
The words "phantom" and "Manor" are also more likely to be understood in different languages.
Another difference is that the ride is not narrated, like the american. This is once again because of the languages, a lot of people just wouldn't understand the words. This is also the reason why they replaced Vincent Price's original spiel with a French one several months after the opening.
Also phantom manors music is new, and has a much more cinematic effect, it's almost sort of a replacement for the missing narrations.

(this picture shows the Fourth Ward Schoolhouse in Virginia city, wich is still standing today. The imagineers based the exterior of the manor on this building.)
THE MYTHOLOGY

Among the first settlers of Thunder Mesa was a family that struck it rich during the town's Gold Rush heyday. With their new money, they built the best house in town. On the day of her wedding, the daughter of the patriarch of the Manor was jilted, and was never seen again! The house, once the showplace of Thunder Mesa, fell into decay and ruin.

Haunted by a host of ghosts-predominantly by the evil "Phantom" and the benevolent "Bride", these restless spirits are constantly at odds within the confines of the house.

THE RIDE

First in the queue area you walk past the gazebo, and a broken fountain.
Once inside the manor, you find yourself in the foyer, a dark voice welcomes you into one of two elevators.
This elevator is called a stretchroom, both the floor goes down, and the ceiling goes up, revealing some macabre pieces of art.
As the room gets bigger your ghost host reminds you that there are no windows, and no doors; which offers you this chilling challenge: TO FIND A WAY OUT!!!. Of course there's always "his" way. The lights fade out and where once was a ceiling now is a hanging corpse swinging from a rope pulley that is yanked by a sinister phantom figure.(This is a very rare picture of the corpse hanging from the ceiling. Please, do not copy this image without my permission)

When you walk out of the stretchroom, you find yourself looking at some priceless works of art, but things are not always as they seem... The paintings in this hallway silently undergo a disquietly metamorphosis.

You get into your doombuggy in the loading area, and the real tour begins.
Your doombuggy can turn a 180 degrees to the left and right, and is pre-programmed so you can only see, what the imagineers want you to see.(this image is, as far as I know, the first time that it's placed on a website. Please don't copy this rare image of imagineers laying the track for the doombuggies.)

Your first ghostly encounter is with Melanie, the bride.

Then you pass a ghostly piano that seems to play all by itself, and an endless hallway where you see the bride appearing and disappearing, leaving only her candle floating in midair.

After the corridor of doors, where some ghosts try to make their escape, you find yourself in the sceanceroom where madame leota talks about the ravishing bride, and her vanishing groom. In the haunted mansions, madame leoto has the face of an old disney cm, Leota Tombs. When the haunted mansion was designed, the imagineers needed a piece of film to test the head, so they asked Leota. Afterwards they liked it so much that they decided to use it for the original ride. In Paris Oona Lind is trapped in glass, since the narrations had to be in English and French.

Then the famous ballroom scene, where with the help of a trick called Peppersghost, dancing and eating ghosts appear, and disappear.
After this maccaber party, you travel to what in the haunted mansion would be the attic.

You now find yourself in the saddest part of the ride, the bride's boudoir. Where the lonely bride is crying behind her mirror.

After the phantom with a fresh grave just for you and a bloodthirsty hellhound, you slowly descend into the skeleton catacombs.
With of course the classic Grim Grinning Ghosts.(and no, the one on the right is not Walt Disney himself.)

The next moment Ezra is selling one way tickets before you enter phantom canyon.

After you've been welcomed by the mayor, you find yourself in some sort of western ghost setting. This is called Phantom Canyon. Here you have 24 hour bars wich are open all night long. Also at the end, you will find a very sophisticated audio animatronic laughing at you whilst standing next to his own open coffin.

You pass the pointing bride, and the next thing you know, there is a ghost dangling above you doombuggy, or so it seems...

Well, that was it you have to step out of your doombuggy and say goodbye to little Leota from the wine cellar(another typical French thing) asking you to hurry back.

Then you  have boothill outside, this is the graveyard of thunder mesa. Here you will find very special grave stones with all kinds of humoristic texts.
Boothill owns it's name to an old cowboy tradition, where cowboys would be buried with their boots still on.
