What is Cloning?

Cloning in the Pokemon games varies greatly from real-world cloning. It is easy and fast and has little risk (Emerald version only). If you don't know how to clone, go here. Basically, Cloning is using an overlooked glitch within the game to duplicate items and Pokemon. It is similar to the MissingNo glitch of Red and Blue and the original (but risky) cloning glitch of Gold and Silver.

Same Earth, Same Sky

As Mewtwo states in Mewtwo Strikes back!, cloned Pokemon and original Pokemon are no different from each other at the start. What makes them different is what they (and you) do with them. Besides, Pokemon is a GAME. Not only that, it's a game that lets YOU choose how you play. If you want to have an army of shiny Mews, so be it. If you want to have twenty master balls, go right ahead. There are no rules against it, and you're not going to heck for it.

However, a line must be drawn. That is when people use their clones to rip off others. Say someone has a shiny Mewtwo that they worked hard to get, and somebody else wants to trade their shiny Ho-oh for it. The trade was made, but the other person has another shiny Ho-oh on hand. That isn't fair to the person who had the shiny Mewtwo, is it? When something like this happens, it ruins the meaning of trading Pokemon with friends. Plus, the great feeling of having a rare shiny Ho-oh was tarnished.
