[ A fight for double decker buses in Crawley ]

This website was designed in order to fight for double decker buses in Crawley especially on routes 1, 4, 5 and 10. I have experienced overcrowded buses with passengers being left behind at bus stops at rush hour in particular as a result of late, single decker and infrequent buses, so I believe that it is about time we put a stop to this problem immediately. So if you are unhappy about the single decker buses on these bus routes, please feel free to e-mail crawleybuses@yahoo.co.uk and i will put your views on this website as soon as possible. I would also urge you to contact Metrobus on 01293 449191 or the postal address if you prefer is;

Metrobus Limited, Crawley depot and Head Office, Wheatstone Close, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 9UA.

Your comment will help to make a difference, so please do something now!

I am a regular traveller everyday on the route 1 to and from bewbush to crawley the double deckers transformed the route. Overcrowded buses became a thing of the past 99% of the time, obviously we still experienced the odd overcrowded bus if one was missed out, but I am pleased to say this was extremely rare. Before we had 830 and his gang on the route 1 we had to experience the Optare single deck buses that were both overcrowded and unreliable. We have got used to a good reliable service with the deckers since the summer of 2002. Now the route 1 is served by the new unreliable single deck Scania buses the only time they seem to run to time is in the morning when I am on my way to work. The late afternoon buses when I am travelling home are always delayed and so overcrowded and most days standing room only by the time they leave the bus station. There is no way I will catch my bus from any other stop in the town as you can not guarantee a seat. The buses are requently taken out of service as they break down, the doors seem to be a major problem with not operating correctly, opening and closing when they should not be doing so. One morning I witnessed 2 people on the same bus get stuck in the doors as they opened and closed upon them and one of the people was a 7 year old child. This new service of single decker buses is hardly promoting bus travel if the buses are not running to time and are overcrowded....we need our double deckers back on the route. Also there is hardly any room to put shopping and as the route is mainly used by people coming from town with shopping where are they supposed to put it??? Have you tried lifting shopping up and into the luggage area above the wheel arches??? I often catch the 1 from opposite the ambulance station if I have been to Sainsbury at West Green but am having to think twice about doing so as on a Saturday afternoon the bus will be too crowded to put my shopping anywhere.

I send this message on behalf of myself and my retired parents and their elderly neighbour and my work colleagues who use the route 1 service....as guess what none of us are happy!!!!
