Chris Jericho was born in Manhasset, New York on November 9, 1970. His father, Ted Irvine, played for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League at the time. During the season, the Irvine family would live in New York and then spend the off-season back home in Winnipeg. Chris lived in various cities throughout his dad's career but Winnipeg was home.

Chris earned a degree in journalism at Red River College in Winnipeg.

When Chris was 19, he moved to Calgary to train at Stu Hart's Dungeon. He trained with Lance Storm and the two had their first match on October 2. 1990. in 1992, Jericho got the chance to wrestle for a small promotion in Mexico which led to the EMLL. From there Chris got the opportunity to work in Japan. In Japan, he met up with fellow WWE superstar, Chris Benoit and got a job in ECW. He made his ECW debut in February 1996.

Chris then met with Eric Bischoff and got a job in the old WCW. He made his debut in September of 1996. In just under three years with the company, he became a five time WCW Cruiserweight champion and a one time WCW TV Title champion.

In 1997, Chris was inducted into the Canadian Wrestling Hall of Fame.

In August of 1999, Chris left WCW and signed with the WWF. He made his debut on August 9, 1999 and called himself the Millenium Man Y2J. In his first two years with the World Wrestling Federation, Jericho won the Intercontinental Championship on four occasions, the Tag Team Championship twice, and the European and Hardcore titles as well.

Critics said Jericho lacked the size to win the big one but proved them all wrong by beating The Rock in 2001 at No Mercy to become the WCW champion. Then, in December, Chris beat The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in the same night and became the first ever WWF Undisputed Champion.

On July 6, 2004, Chirs Jericho was awarded the Manitoba's Order of the Buffalo by the province of Manitoba and the city of Winnipeg.
