Crash Slaughter's House

Welcome! Please feel free to look around but don't touch anything!!

Crash Slaughter's House

Hello and welcome to 'Crash Slaughter's House'

Below you will find loads about my time in [LoG] The League of Gentlemen. I am no longer updating these pages but enjoy non-the-less.

So who am I? My name is Mike Richer, aka Crash Slaughter, I'm 34 and live in Oxfordshire and this is me...

These are my old sigs and avatar;

I'm originally from Canada and when my dad retired from the Navy we moved to Northern Ireland when I was 13. Why N.I.? My mother was originally from there. I spent the next 18 years in Northern Ireland, through good times (very good times) and bad times (very bad times). Through all of it I had the best laugh ever! Wouldn't change a thing. The people of NI are the best!

I joined the [LoG] League of Gentlemen in 2003 and just left in November 2005. [LoG] Website

I joined  in 2003 and it has been great. I've made some fantastic friends who I'd do anything for and I know, would do the same for me.

I started off as a Private First Class, then moved on to Corporal, Lance Corporal, Sergeant (asked to be Match Organiser), Colour Sergeant (became Cobra NCO about this time), Warrent Officer 2nd Class (Cobra CO), Warrent Officer 1st Class (Cherokee Leader), Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Colonel, Brigadier and now I'm a General and Assistant Clan Leader. Phew... talk about rising through the ranks!!!

Have also gained a couple of Medals along the way too;

  • The Defence Medal
  • The 1939-1945 War Medal
  • Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal
  • The Military Medal
  • The Military Cross
  • The Distinguished Service Order
  • The Victoria Cross

In all honestly, I have always been genuinly surprised each time I received a medals or promotion! I'm not the greatest player in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but I can hold my own... easy now!

I'm told it's more to do with my commitment to and the work I do for the clan. Quite frankly, that's what I thought you were supposed to do when you joined a clan?! I see people joining, never post on the website, never come on TS, never sign for matches etc... but are happy to have the server password! They're happy to come on in their own private slot... and nothing else! What's the point?!? If you are going to sign up to be a member... make the commitment and be a member!

Originally the [LoG] was not involved in any leagues or ladders, we only played friendlies with clans like Brothers in Arms Clan, Evil Dictators, 47th, Chalky's Heroes etc. As I am anal retentive and make spreadsheets and lists for everything, I was asked if I'd like to arrange matches and maybe get us into a league. We joined Clan Planet and won the bloody thing! lol

The [LoG] are currently involved in three leagues.

MGL is currently administered by [LoG] Lt.Dodeska. UFGL is administered by [LoG] Mjr.Woody. We have been involved with MGL/CP for 3 Seasons now. We entered the TDM Realism ladder during Season 4 and hell's bells we won the bugger!!

Season 5 saw us come in 3rd but with members leaving and everything in a bit of chaos, I'm happy with the result.

[LoG] Meeting 26-27 November 2004

Well after being in the [LoG] for about 2 years now, the time had finally come to meet people once and for all. A date was hastily arranged and the location was my house. I apologise to those that couldn't make it, hopefully a big bash in a better location will be arranged for next year.

Friday 26th November 2004

The night before Dazzler turned up on my doorstep, we had a chat and a few drinks and watched a bit of Family Guy. We went on TS to say hello to the chaps and Daz spent the next half hour bitching about my trackball mouse! Humph!!

1st Night Attendees (Report by NXT)
Crash & Paula, NXT & Mags, Dazzler, JC & Sam, Arcadia and Morpheus

Night one of the [LoG] meet happened as planned in Didcot. It really is weird meeting people who you have chatted with for so long for the first time, folk are very different to your mental pictures of them. Having said that, there were no disappointments whatsoever. 3 wives attended along with Arcadia so we had enough females in tow to keep us in line [NOT].

Time to rename JC1 as slaphead, he get's severly beaten about the bonce by wife Sam on a regular basis. Didcot glows a luminous green at night due to the nuclear power station, Crash works there so I think we should rename him as Homer Simpson, in fact with everyone fighting for seating in his lounge, it was just like a scene from the start of the Simpsons! My thanks to Crash and Paula for being such good hosts and apologies to Paula but, that was a bloody stupid place to leave a vase with pissheads about. Boris is an excellent clan mascot, he does however look remarkably like Dazzler. Maverick managed to join us by video link for a wee while, it was good to have him at the table. Don't anyone upset Morph, the guy is a giant, great in both stature and renown.

Crash, is it normal in Didcot for the offie to slam the door when they see you coming? and what was it the Chinese waiters were saying about animals? Don't they know that Chicken wings were designed for flying.

Anyhow folks, loads of pictures and video's taken so I am sure that some of them will find their way to you. Day 2 is in progress as I type with a new influx of members arriving [I knew I shouldn't have left a day early Grrrrr].

A new date is going to be set for next year as this one has been so successful, so for the lightweights amongst you, make sure you put your name down. You missed a great time with great mates.

Oh, and well done Cherokee's, we owned the night. REPORT PROVIDED BY NXT. Thanks mate!

I just want to echo NXT's words, it was a great night and was bloody nice to finally meet everyone. And not a Mohawk in sight!

Saturday 27th November 2004

2nd Night Attendees:
Crash & Paula, Dazzler, JC & Sam, Arcadia, Slarty, Donrocco, Woody & Bev, Phalanx, and Big Ian from RDC.

Saturday morning and after a pleasant night with some great company I was looking forward to doing it all over again.
Daz, JC, Arcadia were at the hotel and my mobile was red hot with people telling me they were on the way.
1st to arrive were Don and Ian. You may know Ian from RDC, he’s also Don’s brother-in-law and was more than welcome to join in.
Next up was Phalanx. After a bit of luck, he was able to join us and it was great to finally meet him in person (like the rest). Having the Mohawk’s leader in my lounge would have been the perfect opportunity to give him a kickin’… but he’s bigger than me so that’s that!
Soon Slarty, Woody and his misses arrived and the rest were on the way. Paula made some lovely lasagne and we got stuck in.
We had a good chat and everyone had a great laugh. I’m very happy that everyone was as nice and fun and I thought they would be.

After loads of booze we decided we’d had enough… and went to the pub!
To a background of people murdering 80’s tunes in karaoke, we knocked back a few more and you could see people were really getting to know one another and gelling. A bit of clan business was discussed, Big Ian tried to recruit every woman that passed with “Eh luv – want to join RDC?”, Crash was taking vids and Daz was trying to look enigmatic but just ended up looking confused! We were all impressed with the little TV screens at eye height over the unrinals in the gents though!

By this time we had drunk loads and it was time to leave…. off to the club!
We walked down to the town and just made it in before they shut the doors. Daz had somehow gotten himself lost and kept ringing my mobile to find out where we were. As I kept shouting to him “I can’t hear a word you’re saying… send me a text!” , he eventually found his way in and the boozing continued.
Again, we all had a great laugh, Ian kept inhaling the vodka, JC didn't hit anybody, Woody was being funny and myself and Slarty danced the night away with Arcadia.

2am and it was chucking out time. After the 5th time the bouncer asked us to leave, we decided we had better go. We staggered back to mine (with Phalanx deciding to take a shortcut over a hedge ). Taxis were ordered and we said our goodbyes. Crash, Phalanx, Don and Ian decided to finish off the lasagne before they went back to the hotel, Phalanx and Paula talked until 5am and I slept on the sofa until waking up at 7:30 and crawled up to bed.

And that was that.

We missed everyone that couldn’t make it but you were there with us with every unit of alcohol that was knocked back! Loads of photos were taken and I had some vids I'm cleaning up too. You'll see them soon.
On a personal note, after 2 years with [LoG], it was a great experience finally meeting everyone and thanks for coming at such short notice. We have an open door policy at our house and everyone is welcome anytime.

I can’t wait until the next one to see those I’ve finally met and to those I have yet to meet.

Crash

EAS Reform

After a short stay, the EAS have decided to part company with the [LoG] and reform their clan. Sorry to them leave but all is not lost. Hollow, SpikeBBS and Gunny decided to stay with the [LoG] and we welcome them.

There's no animosity with the EAS and we still count them as good friends and wish them well.

MGL Season 1 End

After a poor start to the season, the [LoG] finished 3rd behind 47th and UBA. UBA have played a blinder this Season and many congratulations to them. Also, well done 47th on taking the 2nd spot.

 UPDATE - 01 April 2005

Sad news on the home front, [LoG] mascot Boris wasn't feeling too well recently. After a visit to the vet it was found that he had a growth on his spleen. Last week he had the spleen removed and sent for tests. Well the results are back and it is cancerous. The vet has told us that it's 50/50 that he might live for another year. Obviously not a happy house at the mo, but Boris has had his stitches removed and is in high spirits.

*Lastest* Boris went for an x-ray today (19/04/05). Everything looks good and nothing seems to be looking out of place or enlarged. Obviously he still has cancer but we will see how it manifests itself.

 UPDATE - 19 April 2005

Changes galore!

After having a rethink on my position within the clan, I decided that it was time to step back and take a less hands on role within the [LoG]. I have stopped match arranging and MGL duties now go to Dodeska who, quite frankly, is the best man for the job. Well done mate, you need any help, you know where I am.

The biggest and most difficult decision was to step down as the Cherokee Regiment Leader. I find that I did not have the time that the position deserves so rather than let the chaps down, I have resigned and obviously, the position has gone to my number 2 (cause he's a shit!) newly promoted [LoG] Col.NXT |C|. Glenn is a great mate and he'll make a kick ass leader. As where I would let you get away with murder, he'll bring the hammer down and shape you up!  Good luck mate!

So now I sit. Brigadier, in the lofty heights of the Generals of the clan. I'll still be around, on the server and in matches (more on that in a mo). Just less hands on.

Match Leagues

As mentioned Season 1 of MGL ended with us in 3rd position on the TDM ladder. The new season begins on May 1st with matches being arranged a week prior to that. Hopefully this season we will not have such a poor start as we did last time and we can reclaim first place.

ClanBase keeps ticking along. We haven't had great success in the European TDM Realism Ladder and are pretty much breaking even with the same amount of wins and losses. Next month will see us joining the CB UK TDM Realism ladder with such great clans as Hopeless Heroes and Banzai. I'm hoping our fortunes change here and I think they will. No language barriers (unless they're Northern!) and the pings should improve too.

We are also joining Under Fire Gaming League. [LoG] are joining the TDM Ladder (obviously) and the Freeze Tag Ladder which, let's face it, we will OWN!

If you haven't signed up for all of these (and you haven't!) please visit their website and do so.

 UPDATE - 27 May 2005

MGL, UFGL & CB

The new MGL Season has kicked off and the [LoG] have started off well with 5... count 'em... 5 wins. Next match is Season 1 winners UBA. We were due to play them on 09/05/05 but DMW was down so match reschedualed.

 UPDATE - 10 Jun 2005

Played UBA last night and... they took us down to 2nd place . 5-1 for us now but I have to say that if we did have to lose to anybody, we're glad it was them.

As for UFGL, we have lost our 1st match of the season to BwS. They played well but part of the blame lies with us not sticking to tactics and basically fucking it right up! Wont happen again!!

Played our 1st freeze tag match, 20-3 win over =DF=. Don't know why (other than good comms) but we seem to do very well at FT. Recently beat BwS and ]-[ss in friendlies. We've beaten clans that are FT only so we're doing something right! lol

We've made some imrovement on the Clan Base front. We had rocky goings in the TDM Realism Euro ladder, but hopefully the tide has changed. Although I personally hate playing in that ladder as all I ever hear are complaints and the constant moaning from clans on the continent! STFU!!
On a brighter note, we are 5th in TDM Realism UK Ladder. But then again it was our 1st match!! . Looking forward to playing HH, g33k and SK etc...

 UPDATE - 03 Jun 2005

Next [LoG] Meeting

It's that time again! The 'Gentlemen' will be hitting the road on the 15-17th July to the gay capital of England. No, not Spike's house... Brighton!! Our 'old' chum NXT has kindly invited us all to crash at his neck of the woods and see the sites. Some golf (?!?!?!) for the less alive of you, maybe some paintballing, a big BBQ and possibly some clubbing (not the pistol variety Nitro!!).
So get signed up on the forums and let's get drunk... again!

Cheats!!!

Been looking at some match reports on CB, 1 post is a match report, the other 20 posts basically flame who cheats, which clan cheats, has cheaters in them etc... it's all bullshit!

The [LoG] know well what it's like to have fueds with other clans. We've come a long way to patch these up but there are always those that wont let go. It seems new clans full of immature players turn up thinking they are shit hot. When they get sat, they think it's ok to say anything they like on servers, websites, forums etc about the clan that pwned them. Why not try doing a bit of training? Maybe get some tactics? The [LoG] has been around for a bit and some of us have been in it quite a while. Maybe... just maybe... we know what we are doing! Hell, we all know that when your clan goes tits up, you'll be hitting us up for an application!

We've met a few new clans recently through CB and it seems that not many care about making friends in the MOHAA Community (which doesn't exist anymore quite frankly!). "Give us screenies or default win to us" "that's a glitch, default win to us" BLAH BLAH BLAH etc... never mind the constantly repeating of HAX - NOOB - BOON - CHEAT... grow up.

It saddens me when I see such great clans all lower themselves into petty wars of words. Especially in public for all to see. I know clans that have never played other clans because they heard "that clan cheats". Says who?

I'm not saying we're perfect. I'm tired of some of our own members accusing people all the time. In all of these and the others I've read about... WHERE'S THE PROOF?!?! Show us how you "know". I've been shot in matches with several CB clans that I thought were well dodgy and said so on TS, but I leave it there. I don't go flaming forums or posting their names and clan here.
If there's no proof then I ain't got a problem with you. I've speced people that I suspected of cheating but if I don't see anything definite, then I wont kick you. Whereas others will kick you just because they think you might be or heard you do. I don't agree with that. But of course you can't win because you are obviously using a DMW bypass!!

Where are they / we now?

Looking at one of my old members sheets I can't help thinking, "Where are they now?"

The [LoG] has gone through a lot of changes. Originally we had some top-notch players, extraordinary gamers that racked up such great scores we couldn't lose matches ( 50+ scores almost every match! These didn't change even when DMW was introduced!! ) A few of these people left and the [LoG] had to be rebuilt almost from the ground up.

Now I'm not saying that our members are rubbish! Far from it. We have some great players now. Members came and went, we went through a bad patch and matches obviously suffered as tactics we had used to great effect were adopted by other clans and we started to suffer from it.

There seemed to be a time not so long ago that we have let quite a few matches slip through our fingers for some reason. We've dropped the ball on several occasions in matches that we should have pwned. But over the course of the past 6 months we've built the [LoG] back up, the tactics and nade techniques that have been developed for us have made all the difference and we are on the way back to our winning ways.

I can't say much more other than to thank Hollow & Spike (Spike & Hollow) for all that they have done over the past several months. Two quite clever chaps that prove that no matter what your sexual preference, you can be a productive member of society!!

Anyway, if you used to be in the [LoG] send me an e-mail. Would love to know what you're up to now and say hi.

 UPDATE - 10 Jun 2005

Recruitment

The [LoG] has reviewed it's recruitment policy. Over the past few months we've had new members join and, surprise surprise, disappeared soon after. Instead of using the Trialist method, they will have to go through 6 weeks of proving they want to be in the clan. This means using the website, TS and playing on the server on a regular basis. After that period it will be decided whether you will become a member or not.

So if you can show that you are a commited, willing and want to be a team player, visit the website and join us.

 UPDATE - 16 Jun 2005

After only a short while that felt like an eternity, the [LoG] have decided to pull out of Clan Base. Quite frankly, it's not fun. Constant moaning, dodgy clans with dodgy servers, idiots that don't understand the basic principle of fair play and gamesmanship etc... We have always tried to be friendly, respectful and polite but what's the point when you get some fuckwits coming on swearing, calling everything a conflict or (if it's on their server) shooting you around fucking corners!

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to tar every CB clan with the same brush. We've played clans like HH, nRU and a couple of others who were excellent and I highly recommend playing.

The rest can suck my balls tbcfh!!

 UPDATE - 27 June 2005

Well three months ago Boris had his spleen removed. The vet said that if anything was to come back it would be about this time and unfortunately, we found a lump on Friday. The vet did some blood tests and today confirmed that the cancer is now in Boris's liver.
We are devastated by this news. He is on steroids now to help perk him up a bit and see if he'll eat his food. But it looks like it's a matter of weeks if not sooner.
Obviously the last thing we want is for him to have any pain but he's comfprtable at the minute.

He's not a happy hound at the mo and Paula is most upset.

 UPDATE - 13 July 2005

We took Boris to the vet this morning and he's gone now. He wasn't comfortable over the weekend and the previous night was very restless. We thought it was the only fair thing to do rather than waiting for him to feel any pain.

Paula and Phoebe are inconsolable and quite frankly, I'm a bit of a wreck at the mo.

Thanks to everyone that has contacted us. Boris was a much loved member of the family, ruler of it in some ways. We keep expecting him to come racing round the corner covered in mud or covering us in slober during dinner.

We miss you Boris, your spirit was there but your body couldn't keep up.

 UPDATE - 02 Aug 2005

The [LoG] have a new BF2 server. Check us out at 217.146.92.72:17367. The server is ranked but it's for fun anyway so pop in for a laugh.

MGL Season 3 Ends

Season 3 has finished and once again the [LoG] have done quite well but [=UBA=] took the top spot;

Was a fun season, seemed to go by very fast!

 UPDATE - 14 Sep 2005

Been a while since I updated so while I have some time...

UFGL Season 2 Results

We have had a good result in Season 2 of UFGL.

  • Freeze-Tag TDM Realism: 1st Place!
  • TDM Realism: 3rd Place

That's right, the proper results have now been entered and we are FT Winners!

Well done to all that played and let's keep it up for Season 3.

    [LoG] Play BF2

After a bit of thinking we have started to play BF2 and now have a public (ranked) server. 217.146.92.72:17367.

We will still be playing MOHAA and have just started our campaign in Season 2 of MGL.

    MGL Season 2

We played our 1st MGL match against Widow Makers last night. Unfortunately, they took the day so it's a 0 - 1 start to the season. Oh well... can't win them all.

    Promos

On Sunday (11/09/05), promos and announcements were handed out at our meeting. Well done to everyone that got one.

Not to blow my own trumpet, but well done also to myself, Phalanx and NXT who were bumped up to Generals and assistant clan leaders. We've been around quite a while with the [LoG] and take pride in what we have built up. Moderately successful, friendly, competitive and with good contacts in the MOHAA community. Sometimes we get bogged down with petty disputes with smaller clans but at the end of the day, the real MOHAA clans out there know us and respect us. That's what we have tried hard to build and I think it's been a success.

Also on Sunday, it was announced that we are no longer a 'free' clan. We have a few servers now and with Teamspeak and the website to pay for on top, it ain't cheap. I think we've done pretty good as for the last 2 years no one has been asked for a penny! It's been all donations and our members have been fantastic in donating that money. But times change. And with BF2 servers added it's can get pretty costly.

Now not everyone is expected to pay. There are a couple of members still at school and they are not expected to pay. Those with financial difficulty and those that can't really afford it should contact the clan leaders and discuss their situation with them.

Those that just don't want to pay... will be asked to leave.

Like I said, if it were possible to keep it like it was, it would be. It's just not an option anymore.

  •  UPDATE - 20 Sep 2005

    [LoG] Leaving MOHAA

Not an easy decision but after careful consideration, myself, Maverick, Dazzler and Phalanx have decided that it was time to close the doors on MOHAA and become a BF2 clan.

We thought long and hard about this. The majority of the clan have been playing BF2 and enjoying it a lot. As a consequence, we are stuggling to get a full squad for matches. Bringing in last minute players and not working on tactics started to show and rather than ruin our reputation with poor match performances, it was decided to stop with MOHAA. That, combined with the fact that we could see the lack of interest in MOHAA these days sealed it's fate.

So we are exclusively playing BF2 now. Most of us have the game and are learning as we go. There have been a couple of chaps that do not have the game or their PC's are not up to spec to play the game. Hopefully they can get that sorted and rejoin us ASAP. For those that don't like the game, good luck with all you do in the future but we feel this is the way forward for the [LoG].

We have done away with the ranks (finally!), so from now on my tags are [LoG]-=Crash=-

As from October 1st, we will also be a pay to play clan. As I've mentioned before, we've managed for 2 years to not demand payments from members and survive on contributions but this is not an option any more. The amount will not be huge by any stretch of the imagination. Everyone will be expected to pay excluding any members we have that may be at school or for any reason discussed with a CL. Saying "I don't want to pay" wont cut it... you'll be asked to leave.

    [LoG] BF2 Server: 212.146.92.72:17367

    Crash Slaughter... A New Hope

After 2 years, lots of laughs, lots of stress, lots of friends and lots more laughs, it's time for me to say goodbye to the [LoG] League of Gentlemen.

I've loved my time with the [LoG]. I've made some great mates that I'll keep in touch with and share a beer or two with for a long time to come.

Why leave now? I feel my time in the clan has basically run it's course. Although we have just started with BF2, it just didn't feel the same. I thought it would breath new life into the clan but after a couple of months, it feels just the same. It seems to me there is a serious sense of fun lacking these days. I used to love the stress and responsibility of helping to run a clan but these days after taking a step back, it isn't fun at all. Where I used to love getting stuck in and helping out, I find now that I rarely want to go on TS or on the server and that to me spells something is wrong.

As for the people of [LoG], I have nothing but respect for my fellow clan mates and wish them all the luck in the world for the future.

As for Mav, Daz, Tuffs and NXT, what can I say? Excellent leaders, great players but most importantly, fantastic mates! We've had loads of laughs over the years, from the early frantic, MOHAA orgies every night, to the bad times, quieter times and the alcohol fueled meets! I will miss you all but will still be in touch.

So that's that. Like I said, I'll still be around in one form or another. The name Crash Slaughter wont be disappearing, just evolving! So look out for him on a computer screen near you!
