Cranberry Tea Time

Welcome to my corner of the world!

About Me

My name is Rachel.  This is my family: my husband, Will, and our son, William.  We have a little girl, Adelaide, on the way in December.  Will and I met in Alaska in the fall of 2000.  We were married in 2002, and our son was born three years later.  We are currently living in Kentucky.

I graduated from Bible College in 2003. After that I worked part time as a home caregiver, which I absolutely loved.  However, I had to quit my job in the fall of 2004 because I became disabled from dysautonomia.  I have had dysautonomia since I was about 10 years old, but it didn’t become severely disabling until I was older.  I am now very limited in what I can do physically, but I am still enjoying life to the fullest.

There is more to life than physical sickness or health.  POTS is something that I live with, but it isn’t who I am.  Who am I and what do I like?  I am a Christian.  I am a wife and a mom.  I am a daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, a cousin, a friend.  I am someone who likes long talks over cranberry tea.  I like sharing a cup of coffee (or 2 or 3!) with Will.  I like baking, visiting, playing, and having midnight barbeques with friends.  I like learning American Sign Language.  I like music and singing.  I enjoy a good book.  I enjoy a good prank (Ora-Gel in your toothpaste anyone?).  I like crafts and flowers, scrapbooking and making cards.  I like to read books with my son. I enjoy car trips with my husband (even the 6,000 mile ones!).  I like studying the Bible and drawing closer to God.  I love to send notes to friends.  I like to make new friends.  I like to share my hope and joy with others.  I like going to church and hearing God’s Word preached.  I like hearing my husband preach.  I like working alongside Will and being his wife, companion, and friend.

Though I can't do the following anymore, in the past I have enjoyed swimming, ice skating, adventure recreation, rappelling, babysitting, teaching Sunday School, and being a camp counselor.  I may be in a wheelchair, but in my heart I’m running and playing!

God is an important part of my life.  In Him I find strength, hope, and grace for each day.  "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever" (Psalm73:26, NIV).
