Despite what appears to be popular opinion at the moment, we are not yet relegated. We are not in the same situation that Sunderland find themselves in. In fact, we’re not even in the situation that either Rushden or Torquay currently find themselves in. Something to remember perhaps?
Having said that, we do find ourselves in a very dirty battle for survival. With only a handful of games left we are staring down the barrel of a gun. But by condemning us to relegation, you are only pulling the trigger. If you really think we’re going down, then surely leaving your finger prints at the scene of the crime is the last thing you want to do. Tony Kleanthous has said there’ll be plenty of time for a post mortem at the end of the season, and I’m with him. For now, getting behind the team is the only thing that WE can do. So I suggest we do it.
And in any case, we don’t need anyone else digging the knife into us! We’ve had bad enough luck as it is. If nothing else, this season has allowed me to see quite how smoothly last season ran. For a start, no one got arrested last year. We were able occasionally, to field the same side twice in a row. God, can you imagine that now? I can’t. Last year none of the players seem to have rows, and if they did, peace was quickly restored. But the truth of that matter is, teams at the bottom do have a tough time of it. In fact, it is largely this for this reason that teams find themselves propping up the league. There is nothing we can do to help the situation really, but plenty we can do to make it worse. I don’t want to look back this summer and consider to myself that in hindsight, my slagging off the team helped take us down. Do you?
I admire all those that have given aside time to help out in our off the pitch battle against the council. All those that have offered themselves for even as little as an hour, have made a difference. And so could you, if you haven’t already. What do you have to lose by getting in contact with the KBA and giving an hour of your time, to win the war? It is very easy! Trust me!

Who remembers the atmosphere at Leyton Orient? Who felt proud watching our players give 110% in direct response? Who woke up the next day feeling good? Who thought we were staying up after that game? Who can make a difference on Saturday? It is easy to blame the club for things that go wrong. It is easier still to blame this woefully bad council we have. But unless you step in and make a difference, will you feel happy? No. To be happy, you have to know in your minds and hearts, that you were prepared to stand up and be counted. Hear that? That’s the part of Barnet F.C. in your heart pleading for your help. It’s dying, and if it dies a part of you will be lost forever. Don’t let that happen. I don’t care whether you agree with the KBA or Tony Kleanthous, because it is not important. What is important is our common aim. The thing that we all share. The reason you’re reading this column. Barnet F.C. If you want your children, and you children’s children to have a local side to grow up with, then don’t sit back without fight. Five years ago we went down lost our league status. This year we stand to lose our League Status and our football club. Now’s your time, and you better believe it!
