This 1880 Federal Census of Craighead County, Arkansas was extracted, by R L and Flossie Dunnam, from micro-film copies of the original census books. This film was extremely difficult to read.
We wish to apologize for any errors or omissions that may be found. Some of the entries were illegible due to ink blots, faded ink, poor penmanship, dark copies, and in some cases light copies. In some instances we were unable to decipher the phonetic spelling used by the enumerators. We attempted to use the spelling that the enumerator used, even though we felt that it was wrong. We didn't try to outguess the enumerator. Then of course, there are human and typographical errors.
These transcripts have nine columns. The nine columns used are:
First Column: Provides the house numbers and household numbers in sequence as the enumerator recorded the census.
Second Column: Provides the name of the person's in the house/household. For clarity the surname is in upper case letters and the given names are indented.
Third Column: Provides color and sex information.
Fourth Column: Provides the age in years of each person in the house/household.
Fifth Column: Provides the relationship of the person to the head of the household.
