I try to create paintings that entice the viewer into wanting to touch the canvas and interact with it. I believe that good design should generate some form of link between itself and the person viewing it and this is what I try to create with each of my paintings.
I've not quite been able to find a term to categorise my work as yet, but if asked to best describe it, I would say that it is 3-D Abstract.
I'm intrigued with all aspects of design but I am particularly interested in how colour, texture, depth and lighting affect how a person perceives a painting and I like to manipulate these factors.
I also try to involve owners through enabling them to re-arrange my paintings, and hang them in the way that they best enjoy. This creates an additional link to their new piece of art and an increased sense of participation which is important.
My most recent work revolves around modular sequences of paintings which are intended to take owner participation further. With modular paintings you effectively have several paintings in one. Due to the multi canvas design, each of which have standardised points to link each canvas together, an owner can change their layout and orientation according to the wall space available or how they desire the painting to appear on their wall. This allows the owner to evolve the painting and feel some connection and creative input to their painting.
