My First Amendment Rights In Action

Welcome to My Web Site!

This site is mostly about weight loss and other health-related issues but I also discuss current events or just goofy personal stories. Check out my new blog soon. Thanks for visiting and come back to visit often!  Comments are welcome. Leave me a message in my guestbook. I'll get back to you.

Thursday WI Report August 5, 2008 -- I noticed it's been a year since the last time I posted. There have been a lot of things going on. I'll catch you up later but the worst thing that happened is that I gained 20 pounds. In one year. Yes. That's what happened. But I'm back and I'm here and I'm still trying.

And so can you. There aren't that many "Results Not Typical" people. I guess that's why WW posts that disclaimer. But, you can be a "Results as good as you get" person.

I'll be back. I am back. I'm here. And I will continue the struggle to be thin. To be healthy. To be me.

How I got Fat

Yikes! Here's the deal. I'm fat and I'm not going to take it anymore. That picture is my before picture. I weighed 229 on January 6, 2005.

I wasn't always this big. I was active in High School. I ran track, enjoyed Cheerleading and the Dance Squad. I was a dance major in college and danced nearly five hours a day. Plus I walked everywhere because I didn't have a car. I wore a size 4 and weighed 125 pounds. Then I graduated in 1989 and it's been a struggle ever since.

I started to slowly gain weight. I didn't exercise except for the occasional feeble attempts. I was up to 160 (gee, don't I wish now) and joined Physician's Weight Loss Center. It was incredibly restrictive so, sure, I lost 20 pounds in 3 months. Then, when I couldn't take it any more, I quit and gained it all back and then some.

I now weighed 180 when I joined WW for the first time. It was a great new lifestyle change but I just didn't keep up. I went down to 165 and then gave up. I went all the way up to 190 then lost 20 pounds because of personal issues.

Then I got married and had a baby. Here I was at 215 pounds. I almost peed myself when I saw that number and promptly joined WW again. I lost 25 pounds but could never get below 190.

Then I had another baby. I didn't gain as much weight with this one but for some reason gained 30 pounds AFTER I delivered. I don't know why. Don't ask me!

So I had two wonderful kids but gained a tremendous amount of weight with both of them. OK, I wasn't exactly Ally McBeal to begin with but still. When I hit my highest weight of 235 in 2004 I vowed to do something about it. What I did was...nothing! That's right, nothing. I half-heartedly tried to follow the Weight Watchers (WW) program with which I had been successful before...twice. But, I didn't go to meetings or even sign up online. I lost 12 lbs on my own and then gave up. Over the Holidays in 2004 I pretty much ate whatever I wanted and so I found myself in January 2005 at 229. That's when I signed up for WW online.

I've created this Web site to log my weight-loss journey and, hopefully, to help me lose the weight once and for all.
