This is the official website of Letchworth and Hitchin Chess Club:
NEWS FLASH: Apologies to everyone
for having not updated the website for so long. Thankfully, my exams
have now finished until June so the website will now be updated
regularly.
There are a number of new updates: a correspondence chess
section, a message board and a guestbook. The correspondence chess page
follows the progress of the county team as it bids to stay in the top
division. According to Graham, things are currently going well. On the
message board you can discuss the progress of each of our teams in the
Herts league, post game scores you would like to appear on the website,
also there is a section on the message board for discussing adjourned
games with your opponent or other members of this club, there is also a
meetings section - this is hoped to eliminate some of the
problems of arranging meetings - with the new virtual system you can
just log on and chat about the congress etc from the comfort of home
!!!!
Weekly puzzle: White to play and mate in 4. Email me your answers at: davalancox@hotmail.co.uk

Letchworth and Hitchin Chess Club is a friendly club for all ages
which meets at the Plinston Hall in Letchworth every Monday
evening from September -June. From June to August we meet
fortnightly at the Plume of Feathers in Little Wymondley where
sometimes we invite strong players such as IM Andrew Webster to give
coaching sessions.
Adults can come from
7.30 - 11.00. We run six teams in the Hertfordshire league
and also participate in the knockout cups: the U100, U125, Sharp [U140]
and Russell [U175]. Several of our players play for county teams.
We have a thriving junior
club of age range: 8 - 18. This runs from 6.30-7.45 on Monday
evenings. Stronger juniors may be asked to play for an adult team [the
6th team mainly consists of juniors.] The club runs
internal qualifying competitions for the county stages of the UK Chess
International and the UK Chess Challenge. Matches are also held
against other junior clubs in Hertfordshire.

If anyone is interested in joining the club please contact the Club
President Anthony Burrows on 01462 670010 or email the website
