Welcome To The Official Website of:

- JUST TURN UP AND RACE ON OUR KARTS - EXPERIENCED OR NOVICE RACERS - NO MSA LICENCE REQUIRED! - A unique Low-cost Championship and simply the best-organised non-MSA racing in the UK! .......Enjoyable and competitive!!!

COVKARTSPORT was founded in 1996 and is now a firmly established and well-known series giving racers, of all ages, weights and experience levels, the chance to take part in a competitive but fair outdoor multi-circuit Championship.

WE ORGANISE A 7-ROUND (21-RACE) MAIN CHAMPIONSHIP AND A 3-ROUND MINI WINTER SERIES BUT YOU CAN JOIN AT ANY TIME! .......Remember, this is well organised, fixed-cost, low budget and we provide the karts!!!!!

OUR 2009 CIRCUITS ARE: ANCASTER, GLAN-Y-GORS PARK (COVKARTSPORT) CIRCUIT, GLAN-Y-GORS PARK (DRAGON) CIRCUIT, HOOTON PARK CIRCUIT, RED LODGE CIRCUIT, RYE HOUSE CIRCUIT, STRETTON CIRCUIT and SUTTON CIRCUIT.

Photo above: Up to 90 drivers compete at our annual Welsh "Open" Championship meeting. Hosted at Glan-y-gors Park full MSA "Dragon" Circuit it is a fantastic event with over 30 trophies to be won in our 6 classes! The overall winner takes the silver "Welsh Dragon Cup" to hold for one year as our Welsh Open Champion! Spectators and drivers alike are entertained, during the lunch break, with on-track displays by COVKARTSPORT members who own their own racing vehicles. Here you can see Steve Stretton's "Circuit Legend" Racer and Ryan Lindsay in his AHS Challenger Formula Vee single-seater racing car! See our CALENDAR page for details of this tremendous event in which non-COVKARTSPORT drivers may compete - hence our title: "Open"!

What do the MSA think about us?

- “We commend all the initiatives like COVKARTSPORT that put in a huge amount of effort and commitment to further the development of our sport and they are critical to its continued success. I wish you continued success with it.” - Colin Hilton, Chief Executive Officer, The Motor Sports Association. Dated: May 2008.

The MSA is the governing body of British Motorsport. We deliberately remain outside the MSA in order to retain our self-governing status and to keep our costs (and our driver's costs) to an absolute minimum - though we do act as a feeder-club for the MSA!  Many of our members, including our President, are experienced MSA racers and hold full MSA Race Licences although holding a current MSA Competition Licence is NOT a requirement for drivers competing in the COVKARTSPORT Championship. It is good to know that the top man at the MSA knows and appreciates the work that we do and this recognition reflects very well upon COVKARTSPORT and its members!

OUR CURRENT CHAMPION: CONGRATULATIONS TO JUNIOR CHAMPION, ASHLEY CARTER (pictured below), - THE OVERALL 2008 COVKARTSPORT CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY WINNER! ASH ALSO JOINTLY WON THE 2008/9 PRESIDENT'S AWARD WITH THE WINNER OF THE JUNIOR PLUS CLASS, KIERAN ROCHELL. WE WILL BE WATCHING THESE TWO YOUNG MEN WITH MUCH INTEREST AS WE EXPECT THEM BOTH TO MAINTAIN THEIR SPEED, IMPROVEMENT AND MOMENTUM DURING 2009!

COVKARTSPORT is the Only True Stepping Stone between
Corporate Karting and owner/driver MSA Competition!

From 4-stroke hire karts to.....single-seater racing cars!

Multi-COVKARTSPORT Champion Ryan Lindsay pictured with Nigel Mansell, the former World Formula 1 and Indy Car Champion at Dunkeswell Race Circuit, Devon in 2005. Coventry-born Ryan started with COVKARTSPORT in 2000 just before his 12th birthday with no experience of outdoor racing. He won our Top Novice Award in his first season and then went on to win our Junior title three times and our Senior Lightweight Championship twice. Ryan won our President's Award in 2004 giving him a fully sponsored drive into National MSA/ABkC Gearbox Kart Racing which he finished as Top Novice. In 2005 in the same class he finished Third overall. During the 2005 season Alan Harding from AHS Racing spotted Ryan and offered him a Scholarship drive in the Formula Vee single-seater (750 Motorclub) National Championship for 2006 where he justified our faith by competing in large grids of 40-50 cars, posted several fastest laps-of-the day, took pole position at Oulton Park and climbed onto the rostrum at Silverstone which culminated in a top-8 finish overall! Currently Ryan is studying at the Silverstone Race Drivers Academy for a Motorsports Sciences degree (via Loughborough University) where he is also driving Formula Ford single-seaters as part of his course!

Like Ryan many COVKARTSPORT drivers go on to compete at a higher level within motorsport proving that COVKARTSPORT is a great place to begin your motor racing! Conversely we also have many drivers who have been happy to stay at COVKARTSPORT simply because we provide well-organised and extremely competitive racing within a FIXED LOW-COST BUDGET!

WOW!You could win a test drive...

COVKARTSPORT's Ryan Lindsay on his way to pole position (from over 40 drivers/cars entered) at Oulton Park in the 750-MotorClub National Formula Vee Championship!

As a member of COVKARTSPORT you could win a full day testing in a Formula Vee single-seater racing car at the BBC Bruntingthorpe Circuit with the AHS Racing Team under the direct tutelage of team boss Alan Harding!  The COVKARTSPORT President's Award is worth £600 and we have made a joint Award in 2008/9 to two 16-year old members: Ashley Carter of Northants and Kieran Rochell of Yorkshire as we thought they were both worthy winners of this discretionary Award. We can also make this Award to more mature drivers as evidenced by Senior Lightweight: Paul Cox of Staffordshire who won in 2001/2 at the age of 40 years! Last year the event was won by Russell Pinks of Rugby and Callum Foreman of London: both pictured below.

Russ Pinks, in car, takes advice from Ry Lindsay.     FORMULA VEE       Cal Foreman is given tips by Alan Harding.

           WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY:

COVKARTSPORT Senior Lightweight Cal Foreman: "Words can’t describe how grateful I am - thanks again for giving me a day i’ll remember for a long time."

COVKARTSPORT Junior Russ Pinks: "Today was absolutely amazing, I felt I learned so much and Alan has so much advice - 130mph feels good!"

WHAT WE HAD TO SAY: Both Russ and Cal were progressed smoothly and safely, by the immensly experienced Alan Harding, throughout the day. Alan devoted exclusive 100% focus to our two young drivers and they gave 100% focus in return! Both young men proved that they have what it takes to become a single-seater driver and they were both a credit to all of their fellow racers at COVKARTSPORT!

If you are between 12 years and 70 years old................................You can join COVKARTSPORT at anytime (subject to availability of places and compliance with our regulations) and enter one of our following six classes , as a Novice Driver, or at Experienced level:

Our two Junior Classes detailed immediately below:

Senior Lightweight*(up to 68.9 Kgs)

Senior Lightweight PLUS*(69 Kgs up to 79.9 Kgs)

Senior Heavyweight PLUS*(90 Kgs+)

Top Novice Awards and Novice Runner-up Awards are also given in all 6 of the above classes at the end of the season!

* Some Weight Limits may vary slightly from season to season as they are set by weighing all drivers (in a particular class) then splitting them into two equal halves. This is the fairest method possible!

** Juniors must be tall enough to safely operate all controls when flip-over pedals and seat-inserts are used. They may join at 11 years provided they are a minimum 12 years old in their first year of racing.

At our Annual Dinner & Awards Presentations Evening 1st, 2nd & 3rd* prizes are awarded in every section with the winners receiving the Challenge Awards as well. In addition Top Novice Awards and Runner-up Awards are made in each of the Classes plus the overall "Top Rookie" Award. Also "The Most Improved Driver Award", The Dugmore Memorial Trophy, The (discretionary) President's Award and various Special Awards are made. The climax of the evening is the Award of the Overall COVKARSPORT Championship Cup.

*Please note that we will award one trophy for every five competitors, or part thereof, in every class. So this means that if we have between 15-20 in a class we will award 1st-4th place trophies and 20-25 competitors will be awarded 1st-5th place trophies. If there are only between 5 and 10 competitors in one class then we will only award 1st and 2nd place trophies in that class.

We always give just  2 Top Novice Awards in every class (1st & 2nd) regardless of numbers competing.
