Back To You
by Emma.

Pulling her jumper over her head, before reaching for a hair tie, quickly tied her hair into a messy pony tail, glancing at her reflection. Ignoring her tired eyes, she wiped the warm face washer over her skin before drying it on the towel, hearing yell good bye before the front door closed.

The house filled with silence quickly as followed the familiar path from the bathroom to the nursery, sunny yellow walls screaming at her as she positioned herself in the rocking chair by the crib, waiting for her daughter to wake up. Humming to herself, she picked up one of the many teddies she had received, knowing that this one in particular had been sent from , tugging on its ears, she placed it back on the shelf, noticing as began to stir.

“Hello,” smiled as the baby stretched, her tiredness instantly forgotten as she picked her daughter up effortlessly, giving her a cuddle. They had slowly developed this routine after three weeks, was always there when she woke and never cried, instead the two sharing a moment with each other.

“Oh I wonder what Aunty forgot,” cooed at as the door bell rang, the younger girl having only left ten minutes earlier. Carefully standing, smiled to herself as she yawned in her arms, simply snuggling herself deeper in her blanket. Making her way down the stairs, she frowned to herself, the silhouette she could see through the glass next to the door not belonging to her younger sister.

“I wont be a minute,” She called out, taking a detour into the front room, placing the baby in her pram, before kissing her on the head, “Mummy won’t be long,”

Making sure she was strapped in properly, she sighed as the door bell rang again, not reacting to it, as she made her way back into the hall. Biting her lip she reluctantly opened the front door, unsure of who to expect since they didn’t get many visitors.

“Hello?” she spoke as she opened the door, not recognising the person who now had his back to them. He was definitely male.

,” His voice was instantly recognised as he turned around, her initial instincts taking over as she quickly slammed the door shut, locking it automatically.
Leaning back against the door, confusement and fear suddenly filled her body, as she reached for the phone, dialling her sisters number.

“Hello,”

, you need to come home,” whispered, ignoring the knocking on the door.

“I just got to work , like literally, I’m in the car park still,” ’s voice sounded back.

“I don’t care, you need to come home. Right now, Dad will understand,” answered, standing up and moving back into the front room. Lifting out of the pram, she held her daughter close to her chest, as she continued to speak to her sister, “It’s an emergency,”

“What’s happened?” asked, sudden concern showing through her voice.

Glancing at , didn’t answer straight away, peering out of the front window to see if the man was still there, finding him sitting on her front step.

?” She snapped back to reality when she heard ’s voice from the phone.

’s here,” She finally whispered.
